My dog has been groomed here before without any issues, but this visit was a completely different story. I have always been upfront about her being a mix, she resembles a Maltese or Shih Tzu and her profile clearly says "mixed." At check-in, the staff changed her breed to "Maltipoo" because she is "larger than a Maltese" and charged me $11 extra. They also added a $10 "scissor fee" because her coat was supposedly "thick," even though she has straight, thin hair. At check-in, they offered teeth cleaning and nail grinding, and I clearly declined both. When they called to say my dogs were ready, they mentioned the extra $10 charge and told me they did her nails "free of charge," despite my specific instructions not to touch them. To make it worse, my 50lb black lab/border collie mix had a grooming the same day and his was cheaper than my 8lb Shih Tzu/Maltese mix. When I went to pay, my fiancé stayed in the salon to pick up the dogs. He witnessed her rolling her eyes then she approached him. This groomer proceeds to tell him, "I'm sorry your wife is upset... this is why we did the charge, etc. Please bring your dog back again, I loved working with her." Unfortunately, after this experience, my fiancé and I both agree we will never bring our dogs back here. I will say, the rest of the staff I interacted with outside of this particular groomer (Keriann M) were friendly and professional, which makes this experience even more disappointing. I suggest others, especially with mixed breeds, think twice if you expect fair pricing, transparency, and for your wishes as a pet owner to be respected. read more

I break my pet sky for a haircut today. They refused to do it because he's getting Arthritis in his back legs. But yet, last month, they did it the month before that. They did it with the same situation. They have no compassion for any animal. They had a worse place to go to look for some other places to take your dog for grooming. You might pay a little more at the other place. But get better service. I'm looking for a better place now. They refused to help my little baby boy, they have no patience for dogs who have medical problems. They only looking to make money. I have multiple dogs, mixed breeds. Had them groomed at another PetSmart and was charged $57 per dog. Brought them to this PetSmart location and they upped the price to $65 without telling me. Went straight to the Veterinarian, Bandield is the name of this surrogate business. Asked if they could tell me more about the Optimun Wellness Plan, they weren't sure but gane me a phone number to call and gave me a pamphlet, no prices on the pamphlet. So we called the number and got a good explanation. We are going to be buying the Active Care Plus which includes vaccines, exams, unlimited visits to the Vet, fecal exams, deworming and One professional dental cleaning per year, all for 44.95 a month plus a one time fee of 54.95 We can get 15% discount on other services like grooming etc Will update as we get the things I mentioned above. read more

The woman working at the front door April 2,2023 at 9:45 AM is beyond terrifying. Unless you're looking for a haunted house experience and you want your Sunday morning ruined, STAY AWAY from this place and order all your pet items from Chewy or Amazon online. They both have excellent customer service and fast delivery. This PerSmart website says they open at 8 AM on Sundays, but when we tried to stop in at 9:45 today, the woman at the front door snarled, "Do you have an appointment?" We replied we did not, and she barked back that they were open for appointments only and shooed us out the door. She is the thing of nightmares. read more

Do not take your dogs to get groomed at Petsmart Azalea Square. They left patches of long hair, testicles are raw from them shaving them, his butt area has many lines going down with different lengths of hair. Very disappointed. read more

I love PetSmart because my Dog and Cat love their food and supplies. I love the idea of them taking Animals from the pound and trying to find homes for them. I lost my almost 21 year old Dog back in June. I was on the phone with a Johnathan at the Corporate Office. I was ordering some Cat Food and mentioned that I lost my Dog and only Sister in one week. Well yesterday I was sent a Dozen of Pink Roses from Chewy.com. I nearly cried when I opened the box. I have always shopped there and will continue to for my Cat. They really have Angels that work in their Stores. They will always be my Number 1 Store. I've always had a great experience here - friendly employees who are willing to help! I have to get a particular type of dog food because my pup is getting much older and is very picky about food. They didn't have it this last time, but I went online afterwards and none of the stores had it in the Charleston area. The employees were very helpful and went out of their way to help me. My problem is that I forget to get her food until she's on the last little bit! I will have to start ordering online and set up an auto ship. :) read more

PetSmart in Summerville is a complete stop to take care of all of your pet needs. They have a great selection of pet food and accessories and many other pet items all in one place. I have always found exactly what I was looking for when stopping in here and have never walked away without what I needed. The staff here is great and will take time to help you find what you need even when the story is very busy. It seems like there is an appropriate number of staff here to handle everything which is not always the case in every pet store. The store is always clean and smells good for all that goes on here that is impressive. This Petsmart location is one of my favorites to shop at. They are one of the best there is. read more

I gave it 1 star because it won't let me give less than that. I DO NOT recommend the grooming services if you have a senior dog. Our dog is 14 years old and has some aging issues including being anxious. She has not been groomed professionally since the lock down in March 2020. When I called to make the appointment, they assured me that they could work with my old pup even after I shared with them that she needs some extra TLC due to her age. Yesterday I dropped her off at the groomer at 12:35 for her 1:00 appointment. I restated my concerns And we discussed the few mats she has (due to me grooming her at home and not being a professional dog groomer) and the length of her cut. They took her back and my daughter and I went to look at the fish. We were in the fish department for about 3 minutes and walked to the front of the store to grab a dog treat. We had been gone from the "salon" for less than 10 minutes- probably closer to 5, but I'm being generous. They said that she wouldn't sit still for them to get the mats out, so they would not be able to groom her. The "professionals" had her LESS THAN 10 minutes and decided they couldn't work with her. This is after not one, but TWO conversations about her needs and anxiety. If they had spent a little more time earning her trust, like real professionals do, they could have done the job they were hired to do, but instead I have a 14 year old dog with half of her face trimmed, looking worse than before I took her in. If they can't work with an old anxious dog, how well do they handle young pups that aren't used to a groomer? I am extremely frustrated that they didn't take the time or effort to work with my baby and I will NEVER go back. I highly suggest that you head this warning for your pets' sake. read more

The store could be a little cleaner as the pet waste collection area of the store often has an unpleasant scent indicating it's not changed frequently. Just went in to get our dog groomed and because we had to reschedule the grooming for this today we got put in as a new customer instead of existing. Their system was down and had none of the information needed for any vaccines and it's not like we carry it with us when we expect a company as large as petsmart not to screw things up. We had a scheduled appointment to have our dogs groomed. We called and let them know we were running late and pushed our time out 30 minutes. My stepson arrived literally 4 minutes late and they turned away. Customer service was poor and getting 3 dogs in and out of a vehicle is a job to be told sorry you are 4 minutes late and we cannit take you! Frustrating! We rescheduled with someone else! Great quick stop. I have had our Pups nails done a few times there along with a few grooms. The girls in there are great and seem to care about the animals. Heads up, it is slightly chaotic. My Petsmart visit was more of a Banfield nightmare. I went in here to drop off my dog. This was after the constant phone calls telling me to drop my dog off. After I get into the store, I find out my dog cannot be dropped off due to his past condition. I literally had to wait for him while his exams and shots were done. I mean it did not bother me as much but it is something thay could have stated over the phone. Petsmart is a great store for dogs and cats but I do not recommend Banfield to anyone. I consider this more of a pet insurance. Yes, you do get quality service but it just seems like a rip off. I am paying monthly for a service that I hardly use. I guess that is my fault though because I hardly take my dog in. This store usually has only one cashier open and the lines are ridiculously long. The trainers always seem to stalk my dog as well. It's your typical Petsmart. If you don't have a "Pet Perks" card why bother? I like Petco more, but it's too far. The only thing I like about PM is that they have those cheap, but safe, toys for my teething puppy who is chewing every toy apart. Above and beyond!! I have to say I am beyond impressed by the staff at this PetSmart at Azalea Square in Summerville - namely Stephanie and David. I had an issue earlier in the week and filled out and online survey and both Stephanie (assistant store leader) and David (store manager) reached out immediately to assist me. It's exceptional service that I NEVER would have expected. There's something to be said about this level of customer care when most issues just get pushed to the side at large companies. In store staff seems great. The grooming department seems unorganized, lazy and slow. I scheduled a appointment for 6:00 PM and was confirmed for my appointment. My dogs have minor anxiety and I gave them calming medication to ensure the safety of the staff and my dogs. They called me back a few hours later stating that they actually couldn't accommodate that time and I would need to come in sooner. Due to that the medicine didn't have ample time to kick in. Because of that one of my dogs was to stressed and was denied the grooming appointment. Even with 1 less dog the appointment took over 3 hours to finish a simple grooming. (My dog was still wet after being picked up) One of the staff members even implied one of my dogs was overweight. It seems this industry has been going downhill for years. People are to scared these days to do their job and actually take pride in doing it. I suggest people take their dogs to tractor supply or if possible do it at home yourself. It's not worth the money and doesn't seem like a place that actually takes pride in the services they have to offer. read more

Guys if you love your pet this is a great store. Always great service the staff is always helpful friendly and pleasant. They go out of there way to help you and are very nice to my Dog they know his name and speak to him everytime we enter the store I have been shopping here for over six years, and it always is a good experience. This PetSmart is on the small size, but it has lots of selection. The aisles are a little cramped, and you'll find that you will always have to wait for check out. There is another pet store in the area (rather new), so I'm hoping competition will help PetSmart up its game in Summerville. If you know PetSmart, you know there is a groomer and a vet on premises, but I've always been hesitant to visit either. I did have to take a dog to the vet after my vet's hours one time. As soon as my vet was available, I took the dog to my regular vet and discovered that the diagnosis was incorrect. Sometimes, I think it's better to try to treat your bet on your own - if you can - until your vet is open. It doesn't always work out well, but it's better than spending tons of money when your own diagnosis can be just as accurate. read more

What a crock. Doctor Lady told my son our dog had an ear infection. Gave him no medication because she needed to do all these tests to find out what allergies are causing it on a 10 year old dog. You get nothing lady but a bad review. read more

If I could rate this zero, I would. We took our 7 month old chipoo in for a nail filing, and from start to finish it was a horrific experience. First we walked into the grooming area and my husband tells the girl what we are there for and she tells us to wait and tell the employee that will be doing it, 2 minutes later she finally calls for the employee. We tell her that we need the dogs nails filed and I asked her prices which I never got a clear answer on. She eventually tells me clipping is $9 and I still don't get a price for filing, she says the dogs nails are probably soft enough to not need filing, just clipping. I say okay then clip them please. My husband, children and I leave the room and wait on the otherside of the windows. She looked uncomfortable with us watching and took the dog to the back room, hmm. Ten minutes or so later she comes out with the dog and hands her to my daughter who then has arms torn up by the dogs super sharp nails. We then ask her to go ahead and file them, to which she says she doesn't want to stress the dog anymore? I tell her that it just takes two people, one to hold her and one to file, she was resistant until another employee, who was much more helpful and friendly, thankfully offers to help. Meanwhile, my husband goes to the manager with my daughter and fills him in on the situation. The manager says he doesn't work back there and he doesn't know what goes on????!!! He then tells my husband we should sign up for puppy obedience classes. They finish the dogs nails and proceed to charge me and additional $11 for the filing. I will never bring my dog back here, I still question the treatment of my family pet in the back room. read more
