A more customer-focused approach would have been to explain that the issue could not be reproduced at the time and suggest returning if the problem became more frequent or asking me to record the sound when it occurred. That would have demonstrated honesty and a genuine effort to help resolve the issue.

We left messages at several places and then left our truck at Tom's waiting for the shop to open. By the way, we never received a return phone call from any of the other shops in Bozeman! Coming off the holiday weekend Tom's was pretty booked with usual customer repairs. TJ said he would do his best to look at it by the end of the day. Sure enough we got a call saying that we needed new calipers, rotors and brake pads at the end of the day. He said it would be ready by the end of day the next day. Fortunately, it was finished by noon the next day and we were on our way to continue our trip. This is a quality business that we would highly recommend. TJ and his crew were professional, nice and made time for us.
