Back to my favorite CLT brewery. I've probably been here 50 times. Will return for the beer and atmosphere. Scale: 1-5 Beer: 5 - Basking in the Glow Hazy IPA is my favorite. They had a dark smooth beer on nitro Death Clock which was awesome while it lasted. I have tried several others that were good but I keep going back to my favorites. Atmosphere: 5 - Relaxed. One of the best atmosphere's in the country. Dozens of old leather couches and litter the concrete floor sitting on rugs. It is undeniably cozy! I just sit and chill out. Especially when they have live music going which is several times a week. The beer is good but I return for the atmosphere. Service: 5 - Ordered at the bar. Beer delivery is quick. Knowledgeable staff! Food: truck is here on weekends which is when I stop by. Cultural/Political Agenda (1-5): 5 -Everyone is welcome. This place is huge!!! There's plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Dogs are allowed. They host different events throughout the week. There's a speakeasy room. I'm not sure if they ever close the room to make it into a speakeasy but it was opened when we were there. They don't service food but there was a food truck on the property. The food truck is called Lucky Duck. I'm not sure if different food trucks come on different days. We got fries, wrap, and grilled cheese. The grilled cheese would have been so good if there was sauce to dip into. Otherwise the food was really good. read more

Easily my favorite brewery in Charlotte! (OK, a close second would be Fonta Flora) I like crisp-yet-hoppy beers: hoppy lagers. They are hard to find. This place, had THREE: Two Cold IPAs and a West Coast Pilsner! The staff here were beyond friendly...had I visited 2 more times, they would probably be flying up to Anchorage to go hiking with me and maybe make some homebrew. The ambiance here is ornate and opulent in a way you don't usually see at breweries. This place is very social. It seems like there's always something going on/down here. I came with my sister for a private event and the place is gorgeous. I loved the different themed areas, with all of their unique decor. Bar area is large and has plenty of parking. They have a food truck that is always there. The staff is friendly and very knowledgeable. They have QR codes ready to scan for the drink menu. They also have a large variety of beers. TIP: Check out the fun trinket vending machine they have available. Wifi is available, just ask the staff. read more

My company had a Christmas party here and my first impression was that this was a nice chilled bar and pretty spaced out for us all. We had food catered as unfortunately I don't believe that they sold any plates but made it up by offering awesome beers (IPA's are my favorite). Finally got to see what all the hype is about. Attended a summer solstice event here from 7-10 pm and it was an absolute BLAST! The vibes were giving! Goddess with enchanted forest vibes. Love the layout of this bar. There is something to see, check out, or seating in every nook of the place. I love the quirky decor. My favorite was their vending machine, it had everything from evil eye rings, notebooks, naughty pins, mystery packages, and more. Over all the place is awesome. They do offer wine if you are not a big beer drinker. They have a patio out in the front with a food truck for food. Lots of parking which is always a plus. Definitely will be returning. read more

So happy to have stumbled upon this brewery. We took a trip down to Charlotte on the train and this one was about a mile from the station. It was an easy walk over. The staff was fantastic!! Very friendly and helpful. They gave us a couple samples to try and we ordered our beers. We sat outside next to the cornhole boards and played for a bit. The staff keeps the bags at the bar so you just have to ask for them. There were a couple people in our group that don't drink beer so thankfully they had a food truck outside that had sodas. I wish we lived closer so we could visit more often. It looked like they have different events on various nights and there is plenty of comfy seating, so go check them out. read more

One of the best breweries I've been to in awhile. The decor is eclectic and feels like an antique store but also very trendy. They had mulled wine which has been hard to find some I moved back to the US from Europe! Service was fast despite being a busy night due to the live music act which was amazing! Any other place would have charged a cover for this performance. They had a fiddle player, guitarist and more. It was such a cozy, intimate evening. Wow this place is really cool! It feels like a comfy log cabin with all the leather couches and antiques everywhere. There is a hidden room too! A very cool, relaxing place to grab a few beers or ciders. When you walk in you think you are walking into someone's living room or den. Lots of comfy chairs and couches arranged in small groups, with board games available to play. There are a few separated seating areas, the main one with several seating areas, and another separated by the entrance. There is a stage, tables and live music on a Saturday afternoon. Than a secret room with more seating, and a large outdoor space. They have wines, beers and ciders. My husband had the Doomsurf a mexican lager and So Much For The Afterglow another lager. He enjoyed the lightness of both. I had an Urban Orchard cider, which was refreshing on a very hot afternoon. Such an interesting brewery! The decor is like a dark gothic church and there is so much to look at - plenty of conversation pieces are hidden within. The seating is wonderful as well. Petty Thieves is a brewery with a different vibe, and I love it! It almost feels like you're in an antique shop with the cool mix of furnishings and decor. There's also a secret room that you can access by pushing on one of the back walls, which was fun to find. I love saisons, and they had two on tap here when we came. My friends don't love beer and still found drinks they enjoyed with the hard selzer options. The bartender was super friendly, giving us recommendations and tasters of the drinks as well as chatting with us about some of her favorite spots in Charlotte. They have games near the back, and we enjoyed a round of What Do You Meme. The outdoor area out front has firepits and a great view of the uptown skyline. Highly recommend stealing some time and heading to Petty Thieves! read more

Super unique spot for a brewery. Seems like they built it in an old airplane hanger. There's a ton of indoor and outdoor seating. All of the couches and seating inside is mismatched. It reminded me of a coffee shop. We came on a Friday night and the atmosphere was chill. Lots of groups of people but still plenty of room for us to find a seat. There was someone playing live music which was a great touch. I really enjoyed the guava sour. My husband had the hop drop and roll which was a traditional wcipa- citrusy and bitter. If I lived here, I'd definitely bring my laptop and work remotely from here. Highly recommend! read more

My second time to this brewery, and while better than my first experience (I came on a weekend during good weather and the place was packed and understaffed, so waiting eons in line for a beer or to close out the tab and the staff were not very pleasant probs because of this, I felt like I needed to give this place another shot to be fair), I don't think I'll be back. While the place itself is a treasure trove of fun, cool, rustic, antique, and steam-punkish decor to explore and even boasts a hidden room (which in and of itself is ultra-awesome to have your beers in) inside and a great outdoor patio, I'm all about the beer. The beer here was hit or miss for me both times; when it missed, it was an absolute airball, but when it hit, it was a bullseye. That being said, I tend to dislike new breweries that don't offer flights or samples. As a new patron (they are celebrating their 1.5yr anniversary if the 1.5 tshirts for sale are to be believed) , I don't yet know the brewer's style or if a beer labeled as a type of style is classic and true to that specific style of beer or if the brewer is taking artistic liberties with that style. For $5-7 a pour, I don't really want to take a gamble I'm not going to like something...it's a waste of money and beer imho. I also don't get why newer breweries like this one wouldn't want to invite patrons to sample and gather a following that way, at least for the first couple of years...after that I could see no longer doing flights or samples. I for one would probably be here every other week if they offered something other than expensiveAF half pours because, like I said, when their beer hits for me, it is a bullseye! Speaking to that, our bartender (who was much nicer than the other two at my previous visit) did state they had half pours available since they didn't do flights or samples. Ok, great...so usually what a half pour means is you get half the pour of the regular beer size at half the price...just basic logical sense right? Yet here for a half pour of their $6.50 No Kings it was $5.25!?! WTAF!? How does that make any sense!?! Also, if that's the case, then they need to post the half pour prices on their menu board! I would NEVER have ordered 8oz of a mediocre beer for $5.25!? I felt flat out robbed! I got 3 half pours of supposedly 8oz (not knowing their idiotic and out-right gouging pricing scale) and my tab came to $15!? Absolutely insane! I have been to hundreds of breweries throughout the US and have never been price-gouged for a half pour like I was here...sadly, when it comes to their "half pours", this place absolutely lives up to their namesake of being petty thieves. There are so many other better brewery options in Charlotte, that not only offer flights and samples, but price their half pours accordingly. read more

Shout out to Andy... let's start there! He's a kind vibe and very welcoming. I came here during the weekday to enjoy the summer night on their patio with my mom and the atmosphere of Petty Thieves gave everything it was supposed to. The space is large and perfect to gather with a few friends and there are a few games to occupy your time there as well. Since there's a small stage in the corner, I imagine open mic nights or live shows are soon to come if they haven't started them already. They offer snacks but this isn't a place to grab a meal. I did see a couple DoorDash food while they were out on the patio, so that's an option. Also, on a hot day give the Beer Slushy a try. It's not for me personally, but a good bit of people on the patio had one. Last but not least... be sure to check out their secret room. At this point, it's the best known secret of the bar (lol) but that doesn't take away from the dope-ness of it all. All in all, I enjoyed my visit and I look forward to checking it out again. I just loved this brewery. The decor is so cool, like a library throughout. They also have nice bar area and outdoor patio. Great vibe. The beer was very good. I had a What Will Be Destroyed by What We've Created, a hazy IPA. It was very true to the style. We were only able to have one beer here because we were on a time crunch but I would love to spend more time here. Such a comfortable atmosphere and seating, definitely very unique. Pulling in, I remembered seeing on Yelp what this place was about and I said how can I get that vibe from a place when it's in a little strip mall? You can! It was rainy, but walking through the outdoor space. If I lived here I would spend some afternoons and evenings here. The view of the charlotte skyline, the large fire pit, the option of food trucks and comfortable, cozy seating. Super win! Inside, makes you feel like you are in a reclaimed church. Steampunk decor, mismatched chairs and tables. Possibly a little cluttered by design, but overall a comfortable space. A cool place to meet up with friends, or have a drink without kids. read more

This is a really cool spot...has one of the sweetest interiors of any brewery I've ever been to and I've been to many. Tons of free lot parking, tons of seating inside and out. No in house food, but they bring in food trucks. NO WIFI! As much as I wanted to love this place and just chill here for hours, I didn't like their beer. Their only version of a dank NE style IPA was so totally West Coast IPA. That was a failure for sure. They did have a coconut porter that was ok, but again, not my favorite. Finally tried out this brewery that is right around the corner from work/in route home and it did NOT disappoint! It's tucked back from where you turn off the road so you may be a little confused by the directions, but trust me, it's there! It's pretty spacious both inside and out. A nice large patio with chill vibes and great music. Inside it almost feels like you walked into a Midwestern bar with deer heads, but also an antique shop at the same time, as there are very eclectic decor and art items throughout the place. However, that's not it... there is also a secret room behind the bookcases on the way to the restroom that is a fun little spot to check out and claim for your group! Just make sure you push on the right bookcase so you don't look silly! The secret room is pretty cool and almost gives me a beauty and the beast with comfy couches vibe lol They don't do flights, which was a bummer for me, but they do have full and 1/2 pints. They also let you try anything before they pour you a glass. So what I'm saying is, is there is a way to figure out a beer you like to enjoy while you're there! My favorite so far is the Hazy IPA, awesome flavor and color. The staff is also super friendly and helpful if you're in need of anything! They have a few snack items, but I'm pretty sure it's fair game to bring in outside food, which is nice. While recently in Charlotte, my trip was filled with visiting as many brewery as possible. Petty Thieves originally wasn't on my list to try but so glad a friend was there when we decided to meet up with them as this was one of my favorites! The large space, whether sitting outside enjoying the cityscape views and ambiance of a fire pit or inside in one of the eclectically put together sitting spaces of chairs and sofas surrounded by random decor that shouldn't go together but just does and has a library-esque feel, is a fun place to hang out and drink with friends. Quite the selection of beers on tap and cans; a variety of sours (my fave), IPAs, stouts, etc.. something for everyone (who drinks beer). Some snacks too can be bought inside and a food truck is parked out front (didn't try and not sure if the selection rotates). There are board games to play and great alternative/indie music playing throughout. The staff at the bar were friendly and efficient in getting everyone's orders quickly. The space is also dog friendly! In a less crowded part of town with plenty of parking. read more

This was my favorite brewery that we visited during our most recent trip to Charlotte. The space is really nice, there is a good amount of seating both inside and out. The menu also had a good mix of options. If you don't like beer they have sours and ciders. My friend had a pint and a half of Curiouser & Curiouser (a cheesecake sour), my husband had a pint of Midnite Rodeo (a stout) and a half pint of Hunting Attire (an Oktoberfest) and I had 2 pints of Perpetual Enigma IV (a hazy IPA). Such an amazing cozy place, especially on rainy days. I've been here twice now on weeknights and it doesn't get that busy, it's a great spot to chat. Their beers seem to rotate pretty often and they have quite a few on tap maybe 12-15? I'm a happy camper here because they usually have 4-5 IPAs to chose from. I've had the hazy IPA and west coast IPA, all delicious. They have $5 lager on Thurs and $5 saisons on Sunday. Overall very local vibe, the bartender seems to know many people. The decor is unbeatable and if you're bored there's plenty of old books to pick up to read. My new favorite brewery in the city! read more

This place was great! The industrial/intellectual feel of this place is unmatched. In the best way it's a place that makes you want to think and create. While having a brew of course. The beer is excellent. It's seems they might be short staffed and/or have an issue with the order line. The Skyline was a fantastic lager and the Making Stacks was next level, truly out of the park. I want to start this off by saying they killed the decor of this place. The artful decorations, the thriftiness of the furniture and the old school art all over the walls really gives this place a vibe that sets it apart from other breweries in Charlotte. The place is so comfortable and there is so much space! No worries about being shoulder to shoulder with people. They have a killer patio and huge doors that open up to a couch area right by the bar. The menu has plenty of beers for everyone from sours to double IPAs. Make sure to wander astray on your way to the bathroom and you might find something secretive! Stopped by this brewery for the first time this evening. It was a little tricky to find at first, as it's a kind of tucked away. However, as soon as you walk up it's immediately warm and welcoming. The patio is spacious with plenty of seating.. and did I mention the spectacular city view. The fire pit is perfect for the crisp fall/spring evenings. I was pleasantly surprised by the eclectic decor inside. It feels almost like a nice coffee shop meets thrift store, and there's really not a bad seat. As I approached the bar, the staff was extremely friendly and let me try a couple brews before making my choice. I opted for the Belle Terre, which was delicious! From the location, to the decor, warm service and delicious brews... this place deserves all five stars. I'll definitely be back! read more

We knew about Petty Thieves from when they were giving samples out at Goodyear Arts during art exhibits. I don't think I ever tried a beer I didn't like from them. Now they have a full blown brewery! And I must say, it is amazing. The decor is easily my favorite in all of Charlotte. They have a large space consisting of indoor and outdoor seating. Inside is the perfect blend of vintage/thrift decor from benches, couches, winged back chairs, and more. Currently, they have 10 unique beers on tap, ranging from $5-$7 a pint. All of the workers were friendly, tentative, and quick to serve. Opening day has plenty of people, and with that many people I don't think I waited more than 2-3 minutes to get a beer. Talk about exceptional service! I got the Burden of Boredom Fruited wheat on Nitro and it was amazing. It tased just like juice! Easy to drink. I also got the espresso stout on nitro and it was equally delicious. Overall, the quirky decor, amazing beer, and great staff made our visit wonderful. I rarely review breweries on here, but this has got to be my favorite one in Charlotte. The vibe is laid back, cozy, and has an air of a library. The bartenders are super friendly and knowledgeable as well as patient when you're unsure exactly which of their flavorful beers to order. I am a sour fan and I love the creativity that goes into each of their beers. The flavor shouldn't work it might sound weird but they work seamlessly. The patio is large with a fire pit and picnic tables and they have rotating food trucks. If you haven't been I highly recommend it! My new favorite watering hole! Located on the north side of town giving those of us not in South End, etc. our own brewery to wind down at the end of a work week. The venue is unpretentious with its eclectic decor instantly allowing you to feel welcomed. The bartenders solidify this feeling with their genuine greetings and willingness to answer any questions about their beers. When we last went on a Friday we had the best time warming up by the fire pit and playing corn hole. Decided to check out one of the queen city's newest watering holes, it's in the back parking lot off Dalton road on the Graham street side. It's not very big, but what it lacks in size, it makes up for in beer. They have a good selection of draft brews and cans to go. The staff is very friendly, and you can sample whatever you like, they just didn't offer flights when I went, not sure if that's just because they are fairly new, but maybe that will change in the future. I had a tropical ipa and it was fantastic, I'm kicking myself for not getting a pack of cans to go. My wife even loved it, and she's not really an ipa drinker. They have a good bit of seating both indoors and outside, and a nice fire pit area for those chilly evenings. It's right up the street from camp north end, and close to Noda as well, so if you are in north Charlotte, you should definitely check this place out. read more
