After visiting their new location (which is really the pre-Cauley Square location), I am happy to say I have a completely different impression of the store. I went there to buy some supplies for my bird and took the opportunity to look around. They have numerous cages outdoors in their gardens with various types of birds which were not for sale. In the nursery they had a great variety of birds ranging from budgies to parrots. Their cage room had a large variety of cages and stands. They also have a big variety of toys, foods, and supplies for birds of all sizes. The location was clean and employees were extremely helpful. I will definitely be back.

We are now facing the heartbreaking decision of euthanasia because his condition has become irreversible. According to our avian veterinarian, this virus is transmitted from bird to bird and has a long incubation period, meaning infected birds can appear healthy for months before showing symptoms. What has been even more disappointing is the store's response. Despite providing veterinary records and attempting to resolve this matter directly, the store has refused to take responsibility or offer any meaningful assistance. Our family, especially our three children, is devastated. We hope our experience encourages prospective buyers to ask detailed questions about health screening and testing before purchasing a bird. We cannot recommend this store based on our experience.

The bird had bubbles in the eyes and was biting it's feet and kept sneezing. Clearly the bird needed more care and medicine and they just put it back into the cage with other birds spreading the disease even further instead of separating it and healing it. Instead they just gave us another bird to exchange it because they wouldn't refund the money (additionally, it's from the same cage they just put the other sick one I returned). 4 days later both birds were dead on the bottom of the cage. I think the store is under new owners. About 3 years ago they had really caring staff and birds were cared for and really knowledgeable. Now it very uncaring and clearly no regards to the birds health and those purchasing pets will be devastating and heart broken.

When I walked in, I scoped out the back and spotted a few bright Lutino Budgies in the same cage as the Australian Parakeets. I chose the brightest one and when he went to grab him, the bird flew all around the store becoming quite the challenge to capture. The owner was patient and retrieved him calmly as he talked to me about the kind of bird he was and what his tendencies would be like. These are the small businesses that really give Miami that grit that we all can relate to as the heartbeat behind it all. The prices are fair and the hours are extremely welcoming. While they don't carry exotic breeds or a plethora of toys and treats, they still earn a great rating in my book and for that-I recommend it for those bird ppl who want a stop for necessary bird-affiliated purchases.

My avian vet, who is an hr away, suggested that I go to the Birdhouse to see if Charlie could help me give my bird his injections. Charlie helped me and refused to charge me. Charlie's knowledge and love of birds was very impressive. Yes, there is parrot dust in his store. He does have a large selection of birds, and it is hard to control parrot dust with such a large selection of birds in a small store. It just takes a few large birds flapping their wings, and you have dust. If you are looking to purchase a parrot The Birdhouse is a good place to go.
