St-Hubert Express - Caesar salad with chicken breast

We usually order from the salad part of the menu. Not a fan of the new salads- I miss the chicken fajita salad where you could make your own tortillas and the chicken Mediterranean salad. The new salad menu is in 2 parts- one that is diet and one that are regular salads which doesn't really make sense to me cause salads are salads and they are supposed to be healthy and if there's a menu for ones that aren't healthy- God knows what they put it in. The prices also went WAYYY up. We ordered the smoked salmon salad and it was around $17. We also ordered a grilled chicken breast and romaine salad which was an experience. The 1st time I ordered a salad that was not cut up for me. Literally. There was just 2 huge lettuce hearts that were a pain to cut up. NEVER in my life have I been served lettuce to cut up to make my own salad that I was paying for. Also the chicken breast was not cut up but it was pretty tasty though. Also I asked for dressing on the side so it was saturated in dressing but I have to admit the dressing was pretty tasty. Also it was supposed to come with peppers and zucchini but there was prob just one in the salad. Also Ste- Hubert gives free coleslaw with each meal in mayo or vinegar. In the past, we used to get huge bowls and bowls of coleslaw and keep refilling. But now they just serve it in this tiny dish although you can refill but it's just not like how it was in the past. I miss the old Ste- Hubert. Also I absolutely hate in Quebec how you have to tell the waitress how much tip you are giving instead of writing it down on the receipt.

Very tender and juicy with amazing flavor. We had the Grillades du Poulet Deux Cuisses. (Grilled chicken thighs). It came with a leg and a thigh as well as coleslaw and fries. The seasoning on the skin was spot on delicious! I'm in Vermont right now, and still thinking about it. We tried some empanaditas as well. They were small, but tasty. We really liked the spicy fry sauce that came with them. Of course, we had a side order of poutine to share between the 3 of us, which (as always) was a tasty gooey sloppy treat. You order at the counter, and they buzz you when your order is ready. The staff are fun and friendly, and were happy to speak English to my wife and daughter, while I practiced my quebecois. Great prices - much lower than everything in Old Quebec, and to be honest, much more delicious. Because it's off the beaten path, there is no line. So glad we came here on our last night!

There is some confusion here: the same people own a meat shop next door with the same name and somewhat limited hours. The restaurant side is open more. The chicken is great. I believe it is BYOB but I might be wrong about that; call if you're wanting to drink. It is the kind of food that tastes good after a week of traditional, heavy Quebecois cooking: spicy and healthy.

Food 4/5 Service 4/5…read moreAmbience 4/5 We ordered the lamb chops and a chicken skewer combo and chose plantains and rice for the two sides, and a ginger beverage. The chicken combo comes with sautéed onions. The food was quite delicious and very flavourful. The ginger beverage was true ginger and quite sharp. The restaurant seats about 20 people at either tables or at the counter. There is art for sale in the restaurant. You have to see it! It was so beautiful. Street parking is available across the road.

But given the 6 reviews posted when I was looking for a place to eat tonight I decided to go for it. We were not disappointed at all with this meal. All of the food was so wonderfully flavorful. My mother and I both opted to get the chicken kebabs. I had two skewers she had one. My sides were rice pilaf, and plantains, she had fries and plantains. Both meals also came with sautéed onions. The chicken kebabs were cooked with green bell peppers and onions on a skewer. The skewers were removed, which was really nice so we didn't have to deal with trying to get the meat off. The meat was so flavorful, tender, moist... really wonderfully done. My mother said she wanted to ask the chef how they managed to keep the chicken so moist. The onions that accompanied the mail as a side were equally as bursting with flavor different than what the kebab had on it for flavoring, but equally as good. The rice peel. I've had a wonderful taste as well. My mom enjoyed our fries. And we both love the plantains. They were cooked so well, love that caramelization. We both managed to eat a really good amount of our food. I would've finished all of it if I could've, but I reached my breaking point! The restaurant is not very big. I'd say max 20 people could sit inside, if that. There was some kind of weekend barbecue deal going on, and there was a really healthy amount of takeout orders as we are waiting for our food. I saw the amount of order as a plus as we were waiting! I will say that the food did take a little bit long to come out, and under normal circumstances, I might take a little bit of point wise on the review because of that. However, given how busy they were, and that I could see that they were working hard to get everything taken care of, it wasn't due to slacking in any way, I'm still feeling a five is deserved. I'd say this place would definitely be good for takeout! Also good for a sit down meal if you have some time and can take your time to eat a slower meal just to be safe if they're busy. Presently there is some repair work going on to the building so there is scaffolding outside, but do not let that deter you from going inside. The inside was decorated with bright, vibrant cloth and artwork and was very welcoming. Clean dining area. I did not go to the restroom area so I cannot comment on that. Staff was welcoming. Overall recommend for sure!
