I found a used putter I liked at a high but still somewhat reasonable price. When I asked if it came with a headcover I was told that headcovers were no longer included with used putters. Rather they would sell me one for $35.00. It is not that the putter did not have a headcover when traded in. It is that the store's new policy is to not longer include headcovers with used putters rather sell them separately. VERY abusive of the customer. PGA superstore has NEVER been known for bargain prices but this new policy is a bit over the line. read more

Dropped off a club to get repaired last Friday...they said it would be ready within 24 hours. So I came by 3 days later on Monday giving them plenty of time to repair the club, and it still hasn't been repaired yet. No call or notice that it was delayed or backed up, still had to drive all the way up there only to hear they were behind schedule. Thanks for the heads up guys read more

I went for an iron fitting yesterday, but it wasn't much of a fitting. It was more of a club demo. I received zero feedback as they just handed me different irons to try. I had a different employee halfway through the session so I basically had to start over. They did not care for me to set benchmarks with my current 7 iron I had with me, they mentioned nothing to me about club speed, spin, ball speed, lie angle, or shaft type. After many bad shots I realized I was holding a 1/4" longer club and different stiffness than I was used to. That would have been nice to know at the outset, or even better, maybe they should have tried different shafts with me. The employee that helped me was Dan. He was unfriendly and just ready for me to buy something so he could make a sale. What a let down. read more

The only reason I am leaving a two star and not a 1 is because there are two employees who are worth talking to in that store. In my first experience with a "free club fitting" I had a older gentleman with a pony tail and when I approached to ask about the fitting his exact response to me was "what are you wanting to get fitted for? I can't read your mind" slightly shocked at what the guy just said to me, I told him I'm looking to buy a set of irons. During my fitting the pony tail guy walks away and just swaps with another guy. The Second Gentleman that came over to help fit me was phenomenal!!! Super nice, helpful, and most importantly, knowledgeable! Once we get deep into the fitting process, another worker walks by our bay and says "you're still here swinging clubs?" And I just stopped and looked at the guy fitting me, and he apologized for the rude worker. If there was another golf store worth a crap in the area, I would never come back here. Great selection of items and clubs, but nearly the WORST customer service I've ever seen in my 28 years of life. read more

I have been able to come to this store since it opened and it is one of my favorite places to go. In the past few months I have started taking lessons from Trey and he is outstanding! I'm a 3 handicap and have rarely taken lessons before because I was afraid of the pro that would try to change everything. That's not Trey! It is a vey big store that is very nice. But the service at the store is very bad. The workers their are rude and not very helpful when testing out clubs. Would not recommend going to this store. Edwin watts is not that far down the road and would recommend you going there instead. read more

I am back to playing golf now with a new job so I needed to freshen up my equipment and golf attire. I have an event coming up that I am playing in but not a lot of time available to evaluate, review, gather and choose from what's in stock etc. I sent Lane Young a list of items that I found on line from the PGA store website. He gathered everything and we set a time for me to come in and try everything on. After I chose a new bag, shoes, socks, glove, outfits, and balls, Lane turned me over to Danny Lazenby to get fitted for a driver and a putter. I am a tall female, so female clubs don't fit me very well. Danny introduced me to a senior mens driver after a few test runs that immediately worked for me. We headed to the putting green and trialed three different kinds of putters. It didn't take Danny long to fit me with a mid weight, large grip putter that felt just right. I am so pleased! Next... we will work on replacing my ancient 3 and 5 woods. Thanks guys! read more

I wanted to let everyone know about my last experience at PGA SS HOOVER this week. I have been in Hoover Alabama for my entire life. I have seen golf stores come and go like a bad habit. Other than IG, on Hwy 280, no one has stayed around for more than 1-2 years. Edwin Watts has tried, but they have always had limited store space, club selection and practice areas. However, they have been a staple in this area for many years and pretty much charge full price for everything. So, I wanted to try something new and heard that PGA SS was very golfers dream when it comes to golf. 90 day playability, great selection, etc.... So I take a chance and decide to buy a new set of clubs and get fitted for the first time in my filing career. last few days, I wanted to find a set of new irons, get fitted for the 1st time and had always heard that PGA SS was the best place to go. Today is Sunday June 14th and I just made a stop at the PGA store in Birmingham I believe it's the Inverness location 116-A Inverness Plaza Birmingham AL. My husband and I arrived about 5:30 pm traveling from Atlanta and the goal was to make it to the store and knew we had about 30 minutes to pick up items. I was in the ladies area picking up skirts and tops and actually had them in my arm. I saw a sales person in the area who never said a word to me or my husband nor acknowledge us. We watched him straightening racks but wondered why as things were not out of place. In my opinion and perception he was watching us. I don't want to accuse him of racial profiling however that's our perception of this incident. So he came by again and said are you wrapping up we're closing at 6:00. At that point and as I thought about what I was about to spend and feeling not appreciated or knowing this person could care less and had revealed that by his actions. I politely put the merchandise down, walked to the front of the store to meet my husband who had items in his hand and ready to purchase. My husband asked who was the manager on duty at the register and the clerk at the register said I am. At the point I explained to her the experience I just encounter. She politely said I'm sorry with a smile. She said I'm sorry, but it was not authentic nor sincere, or she didn't ask not one question, no explanation. Based on how she responded my husband left his items at the counter and we decided not to purchase at this PGA store. The experience today was disappointing. I'm questioning the customer service, problem resolution and the quality of leadership at this PGA location. We are questioning wether PGA is worthy of our business, and if you have teammates that treat clients in this manner this is serious and should be addressed appropriately. read more

I initially had a great experience with the superstore. I bought a Taylormade M6 driver from them for myself this past Christmas. The club head snapped off on my 25th time swinging the club. I took it back to the store to see if they would replace it and they said they would have to send it back to Taylormade to get me another one. They called me a couple weeks later saying that my driver was ready for pickup. I live in Auburn so this was somewhat of a trek for me to get there multiple times within 3 weeks. However, at the time I was willing to do it because I was desperately missing the long game. I get to the superstore to pick up the driver and Taylormade had apparently sent me the Sim Max as a replacement driver. The clerk at the desk reassured me that that's what they had sent after I had told him that it wasn't the club I sent back. Excited, I go on my way. Fast forward about a month and about 7 rounds of golf I get a call telling me that my driver has come in and they have given me the wrong driver. They ask me to return it and they would cover the shipping cost (I would hope so). So now I have to go out of my way to fix their mistake. Needless to say this rollercoaster ride with my driver has been the most exhausting Christmas present I've ever gotten myself and will be looking elsewhere for the set of irons I am getting soon. read more

I don't understand the previous comment. We went today and my husband had a new grip put on his putter in about 10 minutes. We had help picking out some shoes. The experienced people were great. I went to the front to pay for my son to do the driving cage (I don't know what you call it), but when I was walking back a young man, in his 20's, was telling my son to leave. My son said, my mom is coming back and he turned to me and said, oh, I didn't know it was for him. He was embarrassed by his comment I could see, but that's immaturity.
