It's rare that I buy fireworks anymore. Part of it is because I still have a small surplus of them but more importantly I'm too nervous about the elaborate, fire bouquets that go over the whole neighborhood's roofs for the smoldering refuse to land on. I don't want the responsibility of setting someone's house on fire. But I feel like I can totally do the ones that go off on the ground or sparklers, things of that nature so I picked up some of those type of things here at Phantom. It's been a while since I bought fireworks as I said and I had to show my ID and sign a disclaimer that I'd use fireworks responsibly which wasn't a problem for me to do but not quite the easy in and out of yesteryear. Lots, and lots of fireworks selections here! You could spend an exorbitant amount of money for your own private show but as I said I was just looking for ground type fireworks. I got some cute sparklers, the black snakes that grow when lit and some great smoke bombs. I got some fireworks called Satellites which I remember enjoying. These do fly but not very high. Apparently this newer version puts on more of an elaborate and sparking display than I expected but they still didn't fly very high, much like the old kind in that regard. I won't be back. They require that you scan your id when entering the store, not just when purchasing. They have a ton of fireworks, but so do the other 4/5 stores in town. When I asked the woman why I was being asked to scan ID before purchase, she said sorry just corporate policy. No thanks. I allowed her to scan my id and it populates my address. No thank you, I don't need to buy fireworks from a place like this. I would rather go buy from one other the other places in town. There may be no better way to make yourself feel like a kid again than to blow things up. I mean, who DOESN'T love fireworks??? (okay, dogs, some old people, and the one neighbor behind my house.) Phantom has it all. They are open 12 months a year and conveniently located across the border from Ut.... a state we won't name that likes to regulate fun. Here's a few hints and tricks to make your fireworks show more affordable, fun, and awesomer: 1.) DON'T go on the 3rd of July. The place is a mess and it's like "amateur hour" at the fireworks stand. 2.) DO join their frequent buyer club. It does a few things for you. First they track what you buy so if you loved it you can buy it again next time. They also throw in a TON of freebies and coupons across the year that will save you a bunch of money. 3.) Keep your own list of what you buy. When you blow it up, decide if you liked it or not and keep that list handy. 4.) Look for the "Utah Friendly" signs in their store. Not everything sold there is in the good graces of Utah and they are nice enough to let you know what you can and cannot shoot off across the state line. 5.) Use the coupons!!!! They send out "Buy 1 get 2 free" type stuff all the time. So you can spend $70 for something huge and get 2 more for free! 6.) Use their website. They have videos online that show what the different fireworks do so you don't waste money on things you won't enjoy. 7.) READ the signs. Hate the loud, whistley fireworks? The sign tells you if they do that or not and what to expect. Look, fireworks are an expensive hobby. You are definitely going to get a dirty look from the wife if she finds out just how much you spent. This place does probably have the largest assortment in the area. They also usually offer a buy one get one free special. This means that their fireworks are more expensive but when you account the one that you get for free in then they are pretty similar to other store locations. Sometimes you get it slightly cheaper than other places, sometimes more than other places if you priced it out by piece. The assorted packs were not as good here as the other stores in the area. There were several fireworks that were either not priced or labeled wrong. When I pointed out the mistake of the pricing the young kids working there were all kind of useless. I had to wait about 20 minutes to have them finally get a hold of their boss on the phone to figure out what to do. They have a broad range of prices on items which is good but it also makes it hard to get things that are similarly priced for the buy one get one free promotions. There is no reason for them to store my name, date of birth, height, hair, eye color, address, which is all included in the barcode of a drivers license. There are basically "3" Firework stores in the area, right off the freeway (Phantom, Black Cat, and TNT). I went into each of these firework stores doing price comparison. One thing to note, each store has their own brand and style of firework. There are a few fireworks that are generic (i.e. Roman Candles). After comparing all three stores, I found Phantom to be the most expensive. They advertise the heck out of buy-1-get-1-free firework, but they raise their prices a little more than double what the price would be at one of the other firework stores. For example, you can get a good size Roman Candle pack at the Black Cat for $2.50, but at Phantom, it will cost you $5.99 (which works out to be $3 a pack). A 10-15 shot firework show who will run you at least $50, but at Black Cat, you get a similar show with the same amount of shots for about $15 - $25. All firework store have incentives for buying a certain amount of fireworks. Phantom was the first store I went to and I wanted to visit all three stores before buying any fireworks. When I walked out of Phantom, they handed me a business card that had an offer of buy-1-get-2-free discount (up to a $150 item). I came back here and purchased only 1 item to get 2 more free. Phantom is the only firework store that has the adult snaps (which are those cheap Mexican throw on the ground poppers, but only these come with a BIGGER bang). Phantom displays their fireworks more like a grocery store and the store looks nicer. You MUST show your id to purchase any of the fireworks (the other two stores do not require it). Phantom claims that it is to monitor terrorist activity...just a FYI. Make sure you sign up for their text message when you enter the store and they will send you a free offer right away to your phone. read more

I'll be the first to admit that the buy one get one free is a total gimmick, but buy 1 get 2 free specials are pretty good. As long as you know what you are getting, it's about the same price. We come up here from Utah where many exploding fireworks are illegal. We go to Phantom because they have a pretty good understanding of what's legal in Utah, and even have some bundles and shelves marked as such. I would normally give them a 3 star experience as they are a good clean store, with knowledgeable staff, who are sometimes a bit pushy to remind you of their deals. This last trip in particular, we actually had great customer service. We had received a coupon to purchase a $99 dollar aerial for $35. We had 3 copies of the coupon and 3 adults and our plan was to beat them at their own game and use 3 separate transactions to get 3 big fireworks. The girl helping us said that was allowed, but went to check other coupons, and found one of the buy one get 2 free coupons, which actually saved a a few bucks. Upon checking out, we were at $243 and the teller told us if we spent $7 more dollars, we would qualify for a large reloadable mortar kit. I said I would do it, but that the mortars were illegal in Utah. She grabbed her manager, who swapped out the mortars for another large aerial cake, and a smaller aerial as well. I realize Phantom uses sales tactics to try and push more fireworks, but they really did want us to get the most for our money. read more

I spend about $500 a year at this store only to find out I've probably been getting ripped off over the years. I recently went in and realized I was over charged. I called the store and was told they could do nothing for me unless I came back at this point I was 60 miles away so between going back up and then back to where I drove from that's an extra 120 miles out of my way. I got a simple sorry after getting back nothing to compensate for putting me out and wasting my time and gas. With that said Phantom has lost a pretty loyal customer. Keep up the terrible work I see why you had 3 cars in the parking lot including mine. I'll be taking my business elsewhere. read more

Great variety of fireworks. Went in with my wife to stock up for july. Staff was very helpful and kind...until it came time to check out. We had spent provably 30min enjoying ourselves shopping, and had probably 400 in goods to purchase. Once we came closer to the register to check out, THEN came the interesting part. Put of no where, tge mood changed, and the 3 staff combined were insisting on me giving them my personal info so they cpuld send me a catalog. I told them i didnt want the catalog, and further more eas very honest in telling them that i dont give out my information. I was told that i couldn't buy their stuff, and in shock i asked, we're in wyoming yes, where i can go in next door and buy an ar-15 without these requirement, and i was told...well, thats our policy. I told them then enjoy yourself putting this stuff back up on the shelves and left. Went maybe 50ft up the hill to BlackCat, and got everything i had selected and more. Avout 600 worth, no questions, just good conversation. Dont waist your time on their deception. Just go to black cat. They're better anyways. read more
