It is surrounded with commercial pharmacies but this particular branch has its own followers. It has its own personal connection with the community. Just like a regular pharmacy, they carry more than medicine. I love their selections of home equipment. They even accept Bed Bath and Beyond coupon. That's a lot of savings if you apply for any medical equipment. They have membership rewards program that seems appealing. The attractive display outside the store invites everyone to come inside and to give them a chance to be of service. I go maybe once a month to get what I need and all the employees there are friendly. The woman that works in the pharmacy actually remembers my name when it comes time to check out which amazes me since I'm not there very often. If I go in alone, they ask about my daughter and make small talk. The store is clean and has a good selection and this Duane Reade in particular puts a lot of stuff on clearance which I love.
