Then they will tell you every card you just pulled out of a pack is LP And turn around and sell them for 2x what they bought them from you for. Take your cards to a shop that will give you a fair offer. Theres a GREAT one across town you'll get up to 90% market in store credit and like 75-80% in cash for your cards. DO NOT SELL YOUR CARDS AT PHAT CATZ YOU WILL GET FLEECED FOR 30-40% of what they're worth. 40-50% market on trade or cash is a joke so dont let these people do it to you. And for what its worth theres a dude that works there with a red beard and long hair that always wears a hat and he is rude and so apathetic every single time I've ever been in there. read more

The store steals what little fun card shopping can be. "our robots sort our bulk for grading, so we don't offer any" This store does have an excellent selection of board/card games, and good music playing. Service was alright, got a greeting, and my only question answered. However, the fact that you can't have fun sorting through cards, coming up with new deck ideas, completely ruins the point of a trading card shop aside from buying specific cards at high prices. The store does offer presorted bulk collections, with any cards of value removed most likely, which defeats the one of the fun points. I recommend only coming to this establishment to play events, purchase board games, or buy very specific cards, because there is no other thing of value here read more

Scalpers in disguise. Not what they use to be and just sad to see. Their argument is they are marking prices up to discourage reselling sealed products. That is a sad excuse for up charging players that barely have enough money to buy the cards they want. Up charge collector products all you want but leave the basic products needed to play the game at msrp. read more

I called ahead of time looking for two D&D books just to make sure they had them, the person on the other end checked the system and then even went to check the shelf just to make sure they were really there. So I get there ~15 minutes later, it's not super busy but there's a fair amount of people in there and I have to say I really enjoyed the vibe I was getting. Granted all I did was browse the shelves as I waited to get to the books/manuals, but I liked how the store looked and the conversations that employees and patrons were having. I did get asked multiple times if I needed help with anything, but all I needed were the books. Very tempted to just swing by again tomorrow and look for some knickknacks/trinkets to give to friends. I'm kinda upset with myself that I waited till I'm less than a month out from leaving San Angelo before I decided to come by. read more

When I got to the store I was surprised to see how relevant the products were; but when I asked for the price my jaw hit the floor. A local game store was charging 300% above market value. I hate to do this but I don't want anyone else getting f****d by these people. I've been purchase Pokémon TCG from Phat Catz and empire for about a year + now. I'll be honest I typically go to Empire in the mall but there is no denying that PC has a lot more inventory. I've probably spent close to five figured between the two. PC is quite a bit over priced compared to Empire but sometimes it's understandable when they are the only ones with certain inventory. Now to today, I spent $220 across two ETB's and a card. The card is in good condition and real, the ETB's are where the problem lies. I opened the first and noticed not only did it have quite literally no good pulls, but a ton of the cards were damaged. Anywhere from slight creases to two cards be literally torn half apart. Then I get into the other box and realize that it was very damaged all around. I got to the booster packs and every single one has the same cut mark in the same spot that is the same size, seems suspicious. I'm not accusing of tampering but if I've ever seen it before this is the worst. The first pack I opened I did the card trick and realized that it was already in order, could be a blunder from Pokemon co. The nail in the coffin was there were multiple packs that were blatantly missing a card. I hate to put this out there but it's unacceptable. Unfortunately I will not be returning unless PC reaches out and attempts to fix this, otherwise my business will belong strictly at Empire. read more
