I ALWAYS wait too long to get my tile roof cleaned... too many bad experiences with cleaners in the past! The most typical problem has been too much bleach being used (even when they promised they weren't going to use it) and killing the plants around my house. And, of course, the fear that they are going to break tiles leading to leaks. One guy who came to give me an estimate had to be over 250 lbs...not on my roof!! NONE OF THE ABOVE HAPPENED with PhD. PhD scheduled according to my schedule, were very courteous and very prompt, starting on time. He spent the whole day here and never appeared rushed. I could smell a very light bleach odor but none, I repeat NONE, of our plants died. That is a first!! He was also small in stature (I didn't worry as much about the tiles) but his size had no correlation to his stamina and strength. He powered through and didn't stop except for a brief lunch. As far as the charge for cleaning the roof and the back patio, it was slightly more than I paid for cleaning the same area a few years ago (I said I put it off too long) but no plants died which is in direct contrast to the last time. Who knew this was even possible? So,if you are like me and extremely hesitant (scared) to hire anyone to clean your tile roof (and patio... ), you can relax and "Just git 'er done!". read more

My review got a response from owner of PhD. Doesn't he know that as a professional painting contractor it is HIS job to catch all the sloppy work himself before he calls on a client. Yet for some reason the painter can't seem to notice overlapping paint, major drips, etc and then trys to pass it off as pre-existing, REALLY?!? And to add insult to injury, PhD is trying to pass the buck and blame the client instead of accepting responsibility not only as a professional but also as a grown up. The client isn't the painter, PhD was. My pics are real proof, not imaginary. My review is spot on. You cannot refute the evidence and that is a sloppy unprofessional paint job. Things started out well but ended differently. I hired them to paint new trim and doors that were installed at our home. We also added some staining for the wood staircase, this needed to be sanded down and re-stained as the original finish was damaged during construction. Their painting crew sanded part of the stairs and re-stained it but couldn't get the finish to look good so they stopped. Pedro sent his dad out who supposedly has a ton of experience staining. He didn't sand the areas down, he just applied clear coat to the areas the other crew messed up and tried to spot fix some other areas. He left big chunks of debris and even hair embedded in the clear coat, not to mention the stain he applied looks horrendous. The spots he tried to fix, versus sanding the tread or landing down and doing it correctly, stick out and are very noticeable. After seeing the photos I sent, Pedro's solution was to blame the stain we chose and suggest I hire an artist he recommended, what a joke. As I spent more time looking at the painting they did there are big chunks out of the wood they didn't fill or sand, they just painted over them. There are a number of ares that were not filled in or sanded properly and are now painted over making fixing them much more difficult. They didn't cover the few light fixtures we have installed and they are now covered in fine white paint dust from when they sprayed the trim and doors. We are living in interesting times. Finding anyone in the trades that takes pride in their work and actually does a quality job is difficult, but PhD Painting is at the bottom of the barrel in my opinion. read more

PhD Painting is a very professional company who did an excellent job painting both my interior and exterior, after a complete house remodel. My general contractor originally hired an incompetent crew who ruined the interior remodeling job. I contacted PhD Painting and their crew conducted themselves like professional painters should, and went above and beyond to fix everything inside the house. Pioto & Son stripped, sanded and stained our staircase about two years ago. They also helped us with paining some very tall walls. They bring true northeastern craftsmanship to south Florida.
