Pheasant Run Golf Course is a fun golf course, that is both fun and challenging. The fairways are well kept and the greens are nice. Strategy is important to avoid hazards and water. I was in the 209 last weekend and decided to try out a new course for myself and girlfriend and we decided on Pheasant Run for our round. We booked our tee time online, and found the rates to be reasonable compared to Bay Area standards, at $64 per player with a cart. I think it's in the $40s if you want to walk but in the 209 heat, I wouldn't even consider walking lol First time here and I played the blue tees, and one thing I noticed was that this course played really long. Even with good drives I was left with some pretty lengthy approach shots and throughout the course found myself having to be strategic which is always more fun. While the course is completely flat, there's a lot of hazards that make some shots tricky. The bunkers had a lot of sand in them but also lots of rocks so be careful in there. It had just rained the night before so there was a lot of muddy parts and standing water in some areas. The greens were on the slower side and most were in decent shape. I ended up with an eagle on 18, so definitely left feeling great after the round. In terms of pace of play, it was quite slow. We saw a lot of groups with 5 and the round took longer than expected even on what the pro shop said was a slower day for them. I'd imagine on a busy day, I'd thinking it'll be at least a 5 hour round. Pro tip: when looking online at the tee times, they did have a daily deal for a solid discount so if you are flexible with your timing you might be able to save some money. read more

NEVER, NEVER, NEVER... going back here again! Save your time and money and go somewhere else. My husband and his 3 buddies went to play a round because a friend was gifted a round for Father's Day. The first 9 holes were great. They decided to go use the bathroom as a quick break after 9. When they came back out to hole 10 they were met with a group of 4 older gentlemen. The other group asked if my husband was in a rush, and if not then could they play first. My husband talked with his group and agreed to let the other group play. The group finished and moved on and then my husband's group played hole 10. As they started on hole 10 they heard someone yelling. The golf marshal came yelling at my husband's group to pick up the pace, that they were holding up other groups. One friend in the group asked who was he talking to?! The marshal said you 4! Stop drinking and get moving! He was a young guy, and super rude. My husband's group wasn't drinking, they literally just went to the bathroom. It was too early to drink, and they wanted to wait until they completed the course. They only went into the clubhouse to use the restroom. The marshal then immediately went to talk to the group behind my husband's group, which proved someone called on them. So my husband's group went to talk to the marshal to ask what's going on, like if someone called on them. The marshal said no one did, he was just observing play. However, a guy from the group behind them made a comment that they walked out of the bar area! Which clearly shows again that someone called on them, assuming they were drunk. After playing my husband's group went into the clubhouse to grab lunch and drinks. They heard the "head" cook tell the waitress that they can't sit there and they needed to get the f*** out. The waitress came and apologized and said I'm sorry you can't sit here you need to move. So they got up to try to figure out where they could sit. A friend asked the waitress if they could sit at the bar. Another worker came out of the back area and asked the group if they wanted to talk to the manager and they said yes. The "head" cook came out he said "I'm the manager what do you want?" The friend said we are trying to sit down for service, can we sit at the bar? The "head" cook turned to the people in the kitchen and yelled "Do they not hear me, I told them to get the f*** out!" At that point the group felt attacked for their race. So they sure did say "Come say it to my face!" Because I know I would have done that way sooner. One friend in the group said he was going to call the owner. He did. Another friend is waiting for call back from the owner as well. We shall see what happens. read more

I am PISSED, course has a serious drainage problem and staff is RUDE. At least the range is nice but it really doesn't help the terrible conditions outside of the fairway. the rough was HARD AS A ROCK and i nearly SNAPPED MY WRIST IN HALF, on most of my shots. This last weekend had an outing out at Pheasant run and I have to say the hospitality was beyond what anyone could have asked for. Dealing with Dylan and Garret was such a smooth process. Having an event with over 20 golfers is a difficult task but with the professionalism and courtesy of the Pro shop staff as well as the Restaurant staff this was an unforgettable experience. You rule that you can't eat lunch after the front nine at the restaurant was something that I've never heard of before we've been coming here for years so we were told we could play the front line again or just play nine I paid over $200 to play 18 holes and to not be able to complete the 18 holes with some stupid fucking rule doesn't make any sense and it's irritating and frustrating especially since I've never heard of this before it's never been a rule that we were told of or aware of it's just ridiculous read more

horrible experience, we played the front 9 and then stopped for lunch before the back 9 and the guy from the pro shop comes up to us and says we don't usually stop for lunch but it's ok. he came back after we finished eating and said we lost our spot and can't play the back 9, my dad my brother and I have played this course many times and this was never a problem he said it was a rule but it's not posted anywhere in the corse or the website, and he made no mention about it when we sat down in the restauran. it was unprofessional and it seemed like the guy didn't know his job or what he was doing. read more

Insisted that I "wake up" when checking in. very unprofessional, didn't let it bother me much but once we arrived to the 9th hole I went to ask about the restaurant opening. Horrible behavior by the "homeowners homie club" golfers. They were rude, hitting into our group and not verbalizing a warning. Then on the turn as the two of us were driving toward the 10th tee, two or three custom carts raced past us and stood on the tee box. We waited for them to hit and then more carts raced past us and over 15 minutes about 7 or 8 carts arrived and hit. Such rude, obnoxious behavior has been the norm each time we have golfed there. Homeowners wander on and off of the course, hitting at any hole at any time they want too. Sounds like a nice perk for homeownership but creates a very disrespectful atmosphere for those paying green fees and wanting to enjoy the nice course. Definitely now worth the drive all the way out to Chowchilla. read more

Beautiful course, played on Saturday but was a bit disappointed as they were having a tournament but there was no mention on the website or confirmation email when I was booking the tee time. Staff was courteous and helped us the best they could get going with our round. We waited for a good half hour after our tee time and then got started, would have been nice to have a heads up. Food was good and again the course is awesome, tons of water hazards but the views are spectacular. read more

I haven't been to this course in a while. Unfortunately, it's way over price for the poor condition ($48 with a cart for a twilight fee after 3pm)!! Tee boxes are not the best, fairways are thin, greens are average. Plus, expect geese crap all over the place. Also, do not pay your green and cart fees in person. It's cheaper going through their online system, save at least $7. I mentioned it to the guy in the pro shop, he still charge me their overpriced rate even though I mentioned there was a difference. They also charge a credit card convenience fee. And the cart fees are $19 for crappy muni carts. Other issues that I don't remember from before...several families and teenagers driving their personal golf carts throughout the course, on the fairways with no awareness of golfers playing. Random people driving around the course, kids on bikes, a gentleman spraying the greens (I'm assuming to mark the next day's Pin location), while we played on #6. He didn't care that we were putting. Just drove up to the green, plopped out and did his business. The guys in front of us (guessing they were 30 year olds) drove up to every green. No cart path, just up near the green for their convenience. Even on #4 Par 3. Overall, I was not impressed by anything at Pheasant Run. I'd rather pay and play at Dragonfly if I'm driving south. If not, I'd prefer the Reserve at Spanos Park. They charge $45 with a cart after 3pm, and it's a much nicer course. I don't have to dodge random people driving around the course and geese crap. Sorry, I'll continue to pass on this course. read more

The guy at the golf shop tried to charge me $35 for one hour of golf today! LOL. Is this some fancy super busy golf course or something? No. The course is okay, some of the greens are ruined by the geese. I arrived around 6:10 pm hoping to play a few holes before the sunset. To my surprise, the charge would have been $24 walking or $35 with a cart. I told him multiple times there's literally one hour of sun left. I even googled it, and the sunset at 6:55 pm this evening. So I had 40 minutes of sun left but he argued with me saying I could still finish 9 and the sun would set in 1 hour and 45 minutes. Crazy. Should have just went to Merced. Honestly the course isn't bad, but it's the second time that I've had a bad experience here. The first time I played here, it was around 6 pm and the another guy who worked at the golf shop closed up shop and just as I was heading to the first tee. He pulled up to to the first tee as well to catch up with his friends (a foursome) who was waiting for him and didn't even tee off yet. There was another single waiting to tee off as well. Instead of allowing both me and the other single play through, I had to agonizingly wait on every single damn hole on an empty golf course with limited sunlight. I would expect such golf etiquette from beginners, but not from someone who works for the golf shop. I was quite irate and that experience made me not want to return. The municipal golf course in Merced has better service and better twilight rates. For around $12 to play all that you can with a cart. The last time I was at Merced, was able to get in 14 holes in about an hour and a half. My advice- get your shit together and let the patrons who actually paid for the round of golf to play through instead of your friends who may or may not have payed for the round of golf. People don't want to pay for an OVERPRICED course to then have a not so pleasant experience having to wait 10-15 minutes for you to bring us another cart. And TROY.. who do you think you are dude! Maybe the reason why golfers are playing in your Madera course instead is because they don't have to deal with this guy. this course has gone down hill!! it used to be excellent but now it's hard to find grass on the fairway. There are lots of bare patches, and if you find grass it's probably covered in goose shit. this gives "clean and place" a whole new meaning. Our golf cart was old and struggled up hill. The seats were torn and leaking foam! Traveling on the poorly maintained cart paths is hazardous! The unbroken paths were tilted at such an angle we had to lean hard to prevent disaster!! When we called the clubhouse to get it handled the guy says "well maybe they're members..." Uhm...WE ARE MEMBERS TOO. Ridiculous. This course has really gone down hill in a short time. How they justify charging 50-60 dollars for a round of golf baffles me. Bunkers have pools of water in them deep enough to store fish in. If you're lucky enough to find one without water, then its just hard pan dirt. Greens are super soft and spin to much for my liking. They are also really bumpy, I think the asphalt on the street would roll truer. If all of that wasn't bad enough, a group of 6 people with 5 carts driving all around and on the greens (no handicap flags) is probably not going to help. This course use to be worth the drive from Fresno and cost to play. Be hard pressed to ever play this place again. read more

I have been coming to this course ever since it first opened. There was a time where it was well maintained but the direction it continues to go in is strange. The back nine is where most of the issues are because they just don't put enough water on it yet there is water everywhere. The rates they are charging are ridiculous right now and the idea that I have to pay $19 more to get a cart is insulting. I get upping things due to covid but this is too much. Why can't it all be one fee like it used to be. Now we have to pay twice. Sometimes I just don't get the management at this place. read more

Fantastic course, absolutely beautiful, 16 of the 18 holes have water that can come into play very easily, fairway bunkers, hills and tiered greens of which the greens are fast and very well groomed, course is maintained very well, SGM has done a fantastic job on this course!!! There are several different tee boxes to choose from which make this course challenging even for the scratch and low handicap golfers. While walking is possible this is not a course you really want to walk Emilie and Eric in the Clubhouse are very friendly If you truely love playing golf at a beautiful course than you must play here. read more

Ever since covid19 there has been a new "single rider premium" being charged. There was never any sort of extra charge for being a single rider before covid. Now they add a full cart fee on top of greens fee? What used to be a mid $20 round at Madera is now a low $40 round. What used to be around $30 at Pheasant is now around $50. If this isn't price gouging I don't know what is. No other courses in the area are doing this except those under Sierra Golf Management. To SGM-your company should be ashamed of themselves. I'm sure you've noticed the drop in players. Your raised price scam is a large part of why. Golfers talk. Soon many of us are going to be filing complaints with the BBB and others if prices don't go back to normal. read more

Love this course. Fairways are beautiful and not too narrow. Greens are the best in the Valley- and FAST!!! Unfortunately very SLOW play and no marshall to speed it up. Clubhouse is gorgeous, huge with indoor A/C and a large outdoor stone patio. Look for deals online for green fees. read more

Paid $240 for a (4some) 10:30 tee time on a Monday (5-17-21). Booked a week in advance for the record. We arrived 30 minutes early at 10am and were told there was a 15-20 minute delay so our tee time would be 10:50. We sat and waited for an hour and finally were allowed to tee off at 11:30. Beautiful course, great bar and restaurant but terrible organization in the club house. Golfers don't drive an hour and pay $60 to sit and wait for an hour on the 1st tee. read more

This golf course is extremely unpleasant toward beginners. I was playing in a foursome with two intermediate players and two beginner players and the "player assistance" guy was basically stalking us the whole time and telling us to hurry up. We weren't doing anything but taking our shots and moving on. We weren't playing slowly and even caught up to the group in front of us and had to wait a few times. If the course wasn't open to beginners, then it needs to say so on its website. This was a horrible experience and the guy bothering us obviously made us play worse. read more

My brother-in-law and I played this course about 2-3 times a month for about a year. We're both mid handicappers and always play quickly. However, the "Marshal" or at least some older man with a fancy cart and a name tag claimed he was told us were moving too slowly for "pace of play". He was very rude and spoke to both my brother-in-law and I as if we were children. We were both upset as I said we play this course a lot and are very familiar with the rules. I dont mind someone telling me to speed up if I'm holding them back or playing through if they feel I'm moving too slowly for them. But, will not tolerate someone speaking down and trying to belittle me in front of others because they want to go faster. This course has lost my business for while if not a lifetime. read more

Always enjoy the course but they need to figure out food service for the golfers. We saw a sign on the 9th hole to call in our lunch order and no one answered so we left a message. Were told they don't check messages and they didn't have any quick food options. Poor customer service to say the least. Play there in the summer time is like playing there in the winter. They water all day long so the fairways are always wet and having standing water. The sand traps are outrages they should call them dirt traps. You would think they would hire enough employees so they would not have there lawn mowers mowing the fairways on Saturdays and Sundays. That should be done during the week. Always check on where you are teeing up. They like moving 5 to 8 white tees to the blue tee markers. If you like slow play this is the place for you they are always letting groups of five and six tee off at the same time. Beware of the golf cart they buy used golf carts from other course that have no battery life left. Not worth the $65.00 you pay to golf here read more

The restaurant needs a manager, today my 75 year old mother went to have lunch with a friend another woman in her 70,s. Eating outside ,the umbrella from the table came falling down and smacked them both. The staff (retards) acted like no big deal. Both my mother and her friend are still feeling pain from this. I give this place 5 stars for value and pace of play on a weekend. Course has a lot of water but there is some room for error as long as it's not a huge error. Pretty wide open course with water to enhance the ambience of the course. Fairways have some dry spots but greens were in top shape. For the price, pace of play and condition of the course read more
