You hear of "traditional" Irish pubs but this one really fits the bill. It takes you back to another time in Ireland with its old world charm and ambiance and the barman is great craic. He has a great knowledge of local issues and folklore and is an expert on Kilkenny's long hurling history. He has photographic recollection of every point and goal scored in all the great showdowns involving the Black and Amber County and could talk forever to anyone who shares that interest. Also has lots of info relevant to tourists or people tracing their Irish descendents. Vintage hurling paraphernalia is tastefully displayed on the walls, along with eye-catching pictures depicting pub culture and relics of the vintner's trade in Ireland. The pints are top quality, way ahead of most I've savored in other pubs in the South East. They taste better than strawberries and ice-cream and that's apart altogether from the soothing effects. read more
