Philadelphia serves the best fish & chips in town. I don't often eat fish'n'chips, but when I do, I always visit this friendly place.

Review Highlights - Philadelphia Fish & Chicken Bar

I'm sure I've had a fish supper from here before, but I cannot see past the pizzas - some of the best in the city.

Our server was excellent, very nice and attentive, and the entire staff was friendly. The food was great, my boyfriend and I split the mozzarella fritti, the croquettes, the arancini, and a pizza col baffo (mozzarella, rocket, prosciutto). They were all delicious and all tasted fresh! The pricing was very reasonable as well which never hurts. The decor and atmosphere of the restaurant was also beautiful and very welcoming. My boyfriend and I are huge fans and happy that we live so close by, for our soon to be frequent visits. Welcome to the neighbourhood, Baffo! Will definitely be back soon and regularly!

Inside, the restaurant is modern and vibrant and i noticed a very nice wood burning oven at the back which is key to a good pizza. Its probably not fair to compare Baffo to Paesano as the types of pizza they prepare are rather different. While Paesano do a classic Neapolitan style pizza, which is wonderfully soft and doughy, Baffo's is crispier, drier and with a mucher thinner crust. Therefore for people who dont like the former they may enjoy Baffo more. My visit to Baffo was a bit mixed. Service was really slow but the staff were nice and attentive which made the wait a bit easier. When my pizza arrived, I enjoyed the flavours but felt it was a little dry and over cooked. The ingredients were of good quality and so I think there is real potential here. Another positive is the selection of Italians craft beers, perfect with a pizza! I ended my meal with a tiramisu and must say it was exceptional. The perfect balance of espresso, booze and biscuit, yummy!! As Baffo is a relatively new place, its surely only going to get better. Really look forward to getting back there soon once everyone has settled in.

The choice was between a more traditional Italian restaurant and Pizza Punks which had a little more of the grit and industrial nature that we associate Glasgow with. The reason for the low review is the pizza took an hour to arrive. We were excited to start the meal but around 30 minutes of waiting it started getting awkward and when we looked around at other tables that were there before us we also noticed them looking around for their food. It took so long some people started leaving and the only reason this is not a 1 star review is staff was very good and kept apologizing. They did knock off 10 percent off the bill which we really appreciated but we would have left if they told us at the beginning the kitchen was very far behind. The pizzas tasted OK, but we were also very very hungry by the time it came. I would have ordered more food but were terrified it would take too long so we left still hungry. Interior is very nice and surprisingly large. They had a DJ in the front room and a professional photographer was also there when we ate shooting the interior. It could have been a more interesting experience if it didn't take so long!

I was expecting it to be much better especially with many positive reviews. I thought it would also have improved over time and would have a better menu. I only came here as a friend was celebrating his birthday and chose here as he and his wife had been before and there was also a quiz on. Alas for me it was to be another disappointing visit and a menu with hardly anything I could choose from. It wasn't really Italian as I thought apart from the pizzas I suppose, which I don't like. I ended up choosing a side of triple cooked chips. I went to the bar and ordered the chips (£3) and also a pint of coke and I was charged £7.40. £7 bleeding 40????!!!!!!! Good grief! £4.40 for a coke? I had to speak to the girl again and ask how much for a pint of coke and she realised she had overcharged me. After she struggled with the till I eventually got my money back. She apologised and said my chips would be with me soon. So I waited and waited and waited, after about 30 minutes and other customers around me who arrived after me had be served, I went back to the bar and found the girl who served me and she was very embarrassed and apologetic. So after 45 minutes I eventually got my bowl of chips. The girl fortunately came over and gave me my money back. The last time they didn't charge us because the food was awful. So I started tucking in, as I was starving, and accompanied with my chips was mayonnaise. I thought everything was ok but before I finished I developed a very sore stomach thereafter I became extremely ill. I became very familiar with the toilet after several visits. The toliet was awful which didn't help. On one occassion the only cubicle that was available didn't have a light and no light could get in as there was no usual gap at either top or bottom of the door. Argh! After my two bad experiences I don't think I'll be in a hurry to come back. Sadly I had to cut the night short, miss out on the rest of the quiz and just get home to my bed. I ended up being ill for two days. It might be others cup of tea but unfortunately it's not for me.

I had the special pizza that had the haggis , onion and goats cheese. For me the pizza tasted like crunchy flatbread a pizza should be soft doughy full of flavour sadly that day may have been an off day but wasn't for me. There was a condiment set on the table and noticed that even though the jar was full nothing would come out as the wrong pepper was placed in the shaker, the holes was too small. Good for drinks yes! Food mmmmm! if you take grandma make sure she has used poligrip as that pizza is hard as nails.

This is like Groundhog Day. It seems like every day I'm writing a review about a new pizza place,…read moresuch is the scale of new pizzerias opening in Glasgow. This little takeaway literally popped up near my flat out of nowhere. Now I have to walk past a delicious pizza place every darn day and somehow try and stop myself from entering! This is going to be a real test of grit seeing as Lamora's pizzas are mighty fine. One of the key things about a good pizza (I reckon) is the dough and their dough is wonderfully soft and light, but with a slight crisp, just how I like it. They have a wide range of good quality toppings and even do my favourite pizza which consists of Tuna and onion. It may sound wrong but it's a total Italian classic, showing that these guys know their stuff. If pizza's not your thing (amazingly there are plenty of people who are averse to it, shock horror!), Lamora have daily soup specials, pastas and focaccias. I've tried their minestrone and it was really hearty, flavorsome and rammed full of delicious vegetables. This along with a garlic and rosemary focaccia for £5.50 this is a meal not to be sniffed at. Simply great value for money. Lamora is a wee breath of fresh air in this part of Charing Cross. Being the only real takeaway in the area it serves up fine pizzas from lunchtime until late and has a very cool and fresh vibe that means it would not look out of place in a hipster area like Finnieston. Although predominantly a takeaway, there are a good 4 or 5 tables which means you can sit in if you like. Most pizzas are priced around the £8 mark which again is excellent value considering the size and quality. This is definitely my favourite pizza takeaway in Glasgow and I'm pretty chuffed to have it soo nearby!
