I used Philadelphia Mailroom to pick up and ship (to California) a guitar I bought at a Philly online auction. Kudos to the person who packed this guitar. I've never seen a guitar packed this well, bubble wrapped and packed with packing peanuts. There was also bubble wrap around parts of the guitar in its case as well. Couldn't ask for better packaging, and my guitar made it safe and sound all the way across the country. It did take a few days to actually be shipped out (there was a large auction and I'm sure this place was very busy), but it's worth a little extra time to have a delicate item so well packed. Mixed feelings about this place. I consistently get glares whenever I bring packages that are for Amazon Returns, or pre-labeled stuff (which I do at home and pay for at home to save time for everyone). I usually get a BIG SIGH from the old white guy that works there. He's been there for a long time, but gives me a big frustrated attitude everytime I bring items by. The younger people who work here were very polite and, more importantly, wore their masks properly the entire time I was there. Unfortunately - and this is the reason for the poor review - one older man refused wear a mask at all and another kept his hanging under his nose, where it did little good. And I'll echo the serious over-changing. I totally understand that they're going to charge more than the USPS and I'm willing to pay more to stay out of crowds, but this place is really expensive. My biggest concern though is that the older employees don't value their coworkers' and customers' lives enough to wear masks at the very worst part of this pandemic and after eight months of public education about mask wearing. I went in and there was a man at the counter, two other people in the back. The man DID NOT acknowledge me when I spoke the first time politely asking if they were still open. (I did catch them right before close. Which I normally do not do at any store. I also would have been OK with coming back the next day if he said no..... BUT The man ignored my presence and my question, but I instead assumed maybe he did not hear me. So I walked closer to the counter but not too close due to the l distancing precautions regarding covid19. I then asked the same question in the same polite manner. He was doing something at the counter with a soft pack mail envelope and did not put it down. When he looked up finally he just said what do you need? In a lazy manner. And still fiddling with what he was doing. Instead of maybe responding yes or no or anything else in a kind professional demeanor. The man did not smile and looked annoyed. (I know this because he did not have a mask on.) Although this man's demeanor could have been because he had a busy day which I would have understood because I worked in the same type of establishment privately owned by another person. So I was not intentionally trying to assume he was being rude at first. But he literally gave me the run around like he didn't want to help me because he stated that's had incorrect information. Although it felt like it. There was no evidence he cared about the customer service he was giving me. When I explained that I wanted to mail off a large item for repair and that I had a number for it provided by the company I was shipping to so that they could pay for shipping, long story short he tried to talk to me like I didn't know what I was talking about. He said the number I was telling him I had was not the proper number or account number to send off so that the company could pay for the shipping. I informed the man that I did not want to come off like a know it all but that I know you can use a companies account number to create labeled to them as I literally did the same mail work before. I told him that these are the exact instructions the company gave me, I clarified it twice on my initial call and that their store was one in the list off stores I could go to to mail my item. He still went on to say that I needed to contact the company for better instructions. He also did not even attempt to take the item to enter the account number to the computer and see if it came up. I left the store disappointed and annoyed because I knew exactly what I was talking about and the item should have been packed and the account number should have been put in the system to print out a label that the company would pay for all of this and be done. I originally chose this store because it was conveniently located and on the list of store options that the company I was mailing to provide. Instead went to the only shipping store that I have been using for the last 10 plus years even though I HAD TO DRIVE OUT IS MY WAY TO ANOTHER AREA. I also called the company back for the second time just to clarify what I had already asked two times prior on the first phone call. They confirmed I was correct on what I had and told the man in the store. So I went to my store that I knew I would be treated kindly and professionally and I was in the store for about five minutes. IN & OUT! My item was taken measured for packing the account number was taken from myself and the label was printed and I was on my way with my tracking. I will never go back into the Philadelphia Mailroom. Rude customer service. I was willing to cooperate but oh well. They lost a new customer who could have been a new long term customer. read more

Wow I've honestly never met a douchier group of people running a business! I will say the older man is nice enough but the other two I encountered today were just awful. Wily or whatever her name is on her sweater is just awful. I was called to the desk and asked what I was there for. When I said I needed fingerprinting (fingerprinting I already scheduled and paid for) she sighed loudly and turned to her boss and said "can we tell them we aren't doing it today?" Well 1) I have a receipt for $38.50 that says you are in fact doing it today, and 2) if I was her boss I'd fire her on the spot for being extremely rude and ignorant to customers. Thankfully her boss didn't say they weren't fingerprinting today so I didn't really have to go off. Also rude-the guy doing the fingerprints. He held his hand out, which I guess I was supposed to know meant hand me two forms of ID? Words actually are much more helpful. I'm so pissed about the rudeness and unprofessionalism of this place. The boss/possible owner guy seems ok, but as long as those other two are still there I will never go back, and caution others to do the same. read more

I recently purchased a number of porcelain antiques from a local auction house that listed many shippers for me to choose. I talked to three of them. One shipper tried to talk me into using expensive crate option, the other one asked me to send an email first when I called. The Philadelphia mailroom was nice and helpful. The staffs were cordial and responsive. The packaging was perfect and professional. All porcelain antiques came in with good protective wrapping. They placed the heavy ones at the bottom and separated each porcelain in a well packed double box, The staffs really know how to pack and ship expensive porcelains. Worse than overpriced, they quote you one price and charge you triple that. I asked for a ballpark quote on an auction item and they had the exact item details. I win item and agree to have them ship, based on quote. After a week and a half I get a email saying its ready to ship...but at almost three times the quote. They got me! Never again though. I sent email asking for explanation, no reply. I could of hired Uber to pick it up cheaper. Its not worth doing business with them or the auction houses that recommend them. read more

Out of my 3 years running a business, Philadelphia Mailroom is the absolute worst business ive come across. Not only did they charge me an extremely overpriced shipment, but they did not use a single piece of packing material to keep my item safe. After this I called to complain and had another even worse customer service experience where I was yelled at by the packer who refused to give me his name. I've been a customer here for years. I have a mailbox here, and use their shipping services frequently. The mailbox prices are 50% cheaper than a UPS mailbox. The only downside is the mailbox isn't 24/7 but that's OK with me. They are always friendly here. They always help me choose the cheapest shipping option when I need to mail something. And they take care of boxing it and wrapping whatever item i need to ship. They are like shipping ninjas. I think they need to re-do the floor as it get's a bit messy with all the boxes lying around. But beyond that I've always been impressed with their operation and definitely recommend them for any mailbox or shipping needs. read more

Can't speak on their prices as I had a prepaid shipping label, but I will say that the service at this place sucks. The girl at the counter had a snotty attitude and made zero eye contact with me during my entire transaction. I dropped off a package to be sent by FedEx. When a couple days go by and I still can't track my package online I called FedEx and they confirmed that the package was never scanned into FedEx's system. I called PMR, and the girl I spoke to (who sounded completely clueless) basically told me "Call FedEx. If they can't help you then I don't know what to tell you." Awesome. Lesson learned. *Update* The manager contacted me to apologize for the poor customer service I received and clarified that PMR does not process packages with prepaid shipping labels. That's fine, but the people at the counter should communicate this policy to customers so we can make an informed decision as to whether or not to use PMR as a drop off location. read more

First let me start off by saying I have rented a mailbox from these folks for about the last year and a half. I have to say the mailbox is somewhat convenient to have however I have to agree with the previous reviewers here, the customer service in this establishment is not that great. It's like they treat customers like money and not people. It's sad to see this, each time I come in there I kind of feel uncomfortable because I feel like there is always one or two people standing around not helping anyone just watching you. The poor older gentleman is the nicest as it's gets in there and I've probably never seen him smile once, but on the other hand if I had two people standing around doing nothing just watching and I'm doing all the work I wouldn't be smiling either. Even the owner Craig Vogin the few times I see him there doesn't seem to be that friendly either. This business should attempt to better their customer service a little. The employees are very friendly however, they charge and exorbitant amount for shipping. First off, they do not honor the pricing on the USPS flat rate boxes. I shipped multiple packages and I went here because it is a neighborhood business and I thought it would be fair. Plus, there were some things I needed the right size boxes for (the gentleman who packs is very nice). On some, they literally doubled the amount and there seemed no rhyme nor reason to it, with the exception that California was very high (and of course most of my packages were going there.) I came home and entered all the shipping into my computer to verify with USPS rates because I thought that I was crazy - I wasn't, I just trusted the wrong neighborhood business. I am highly disappointed. I understand making a profit, but gouging people is wrong. I paid 234.00 to ship 117.00 worth of packages. How is that fair? read more

I started going to this place because it's close to my home, few times I have gone and they're a rip off!! I had my own box they wanted to charge me $40 to send to California priority when I asked wait a minute I thought for med size box is usually $9 they started telling oh the box you have it's bigger so I said ok let me see the priority box and I'll try to fit the stuff in. The stuff fit in perfectly with room they gave me such a look bc I called them out on it!! So the price comes down to $18 I called usps priority they telling me should of been $10 and change so still over paid them!! Other times I have dropped off pre paid returned boxes not only the stuff took well over 3 Weeks to get there the store had hard time tracking it they just issued credit for the items. They're attitude sucks, not helpful they just see money sign over your head!! I'll take my money else were instead of these old dudes working there look frustrated with their lives!! read more

Five months ago I tried to ship a parcel from their mail room. They were asking $64 and the package was a small one. I went to the Post Office and I paid only $32 for the same package. Today I sent 6 letters, only 3 ounces each, containing pictures, They charged $6.58 each letter, while, when I calculated the postage online at home, after carefully weighing the envelopes one by one, the postage required by the National Mail Service was only $3.25 each letter. These people overcharge, sometimes even double the regular price of sending letters and packages by mail. read more

The guys working there are super nice! I arrived almost ten minutes after closing and they graciously let me in. I was on an errand for my mother with two packages, a UPS return and a UPS package that needed to arrive in two days. My mother is a long-time customer and they had her information on file, as well as the address of her grandson. I was impressed with this convenience and their professionalism. Do not go here. This place is super expensive with their ad on fees. I sent a 1.6lb UPS package from here ground and they charged me $22.92. What a rip off. I should of walked out and went to the US post office and just sent it priority mail but I was in a rush so I just paid it. I checked with UPS the next day and gave them the zip code and weight and they told me it would have been $9.73 at a UPS store. Total ripoff read more
