Several years ago I was hit with a very large tax bill, I did not see coming in my ignorance. At the same time my family was hit with multiple medical issues that still linger today. Point being, my taxes where only partially handled, and I was hit with a 25% garnishment on my wages two weeks before Christmas. In my panic I called the number on the radio that said they would stop the garnishments, and get things back in order. They gave me a price to handle W, X, & Y. Sounded fine, no issue, but when I asked about the costs if there was a "Z", I suddenly felt like I was being pitched a time share that I could not understand. Several years ago I hired a tax preparer whom I had prepare and file my returns for several years. The short story is that he fraudulently took exemptions that I was not entitled to and redirected them to his bank without my knowledge. He was eventually caught and went to jail but left me fighting the IRS for two years while they continued to withhold my returns to pay back the monies that never went to me. What a nightmare! MR. Chute is, in a word, WONDERFUL!. HE is a kind, patient, non judgemental,knowledgeable professional, whos , attention to detail and willingness to teach sets him way above the normal tax service. I arrived on his doorstep as a first time client in somewhat of a panic. I went to Phillip for an Offer In Compromise with the IRS. He was reasonably priced and said that he would return 1/2 the fee if the IRS did not accept the offer. He indicated that his computer program would be spot on with the number to offer...this would give the best chance for us. Well, you guessed it...it wasn't. They quickly denied it and Phillip not only did not return the 1/2 fee he promised, he wanted to charge more to continue to try with the IRS. I had to call the IRS myself, so I could have just done this on my own and saved money. He said I should pay for work...I told him I was paying for results. Just no good. Phillip saved me over 70K.... The California BOE said I owed 76K after I closed a business due to a tax carry from a prior business purchase.
