First of all, the reason I am writing the review and not my daughter is because I am the one having to pay for all the repairs Phillips' Automotive caused by being too lazy to look beyond codes. Whatever happened to real mechanics? Because of their negligence my daughter needs a $1300 valve job, on top of a failed catalytic converter, some EGR valve pipe that had to be welded and something cracked in the exhaust. We haven't had the valve job done yet because all the other repairs cost $1024. Repairs Shannon should've caught over the past 1 year my daughter has been bringing him the car. They were repairs that IF had been done in a timely manner wouldn't have caused her to need a valve job. The plugged cat converter and the other things caused too much pressure in the EGR valve and damaged the engine valve. So Phillips inability to look beyond codes caused major engine damage to my low-income, currently looking for work, unemployed daughter's car. My daughter had been going to Phillips for the past year, trying to track down a misfire. Each time he sent her away with no repairs, Shannon, the business owner assured my daughter driving the car around would not do further damage. The problems continued and my daughter grew tired of wasting her time at Phillips. We took it to other automotive places that turned out to be scam artists. Ended up taking it back to Shannon because his prices are reasonable. Once the car didn't start and Shannon replaced the distributor, but the misfire continued. Shannon told her not to worry to wait for the check engine light to come on so he could see the code. The car kept acting worse and worse and she took it back to him repeatedly. He did some minor tinkering but never found out what the problem was. When the check engine light did illuminate again, she brought the car in. He got a cylinder 2 misfire code, reset the check engine light and told her to wait for it to come on again. This was about 3 months ago and the engine compression was still good then as far as we know. It was checked by a few different people but not sure on the time frame. This past month, she took it back to Phillips again because the check engine light was illuminated. They got a cylinder 3 misfire code and crankshaft sensor code. They reset the check engine light again, drove the car around for a while trying to get it to turn back on, then told us it probably needed a valve job. Lucky for us Shannon had a broken arm and couldn't do the valve job so we had to take it to Hans Auto. Had Shannon done the valve job it would've been a waste of money because the problem would've reoccurred again due to the other problems that caused the bad valve in the first place. Hans Auto did the EGR pipe repair, the new Cat Converter, and the cracked exhaust thing for a total of $1024, but told us there was a bad valve due to the built up pressure in the EGR valve from all the other problems he fixed. We couldn't afford to do the valve job as well. Now the car probably won't even pass smog. So thanks Phillips automotive for being too lazy to check anything out that doesn't involve codes. My daughter needed a car to find a job and now she may end up homeless all because of YOUR INCOMPETENCE AND BEING TOO LAZY TO LOOK BEYOND CODES CAUSED MAJOR ENGINE DAMAGE TO HER ONLY TRANSPORTATION. Also, before we knew he had totally screwed up my daughter's engine, my husband took our car into Phillips because it was was acting flooded when it would get hot and you would try to start it. He told my husband to wait for a code as well. About a month passed, no code. It turned out to be the fuel pressure regulator and too much fuel flooded the engine while my husband was driving it home from work and hydro-locked it. Total and complete engine failure. Bent rods and god knows what else. A fuel pressure regulator doesn't give a code and any mechanic worth his salt would've investigated further. This place is a menace to the lower income people who bring in their vehicles, Phillips will turn a $400 problem into a complete engine failure problem. We were without a car for a month and paid $800 in rent a car fees until we found another one. We were under so much stress, depression and fear due to the situation. My husband's job was in jeopardy due to the no vehicle situation. So Phillips has ruined two cars for my family. AVOID THEM LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!! Their cheap prices sucker you in but they don't really care about spending any time on your vehicle if it doesn't give them a code. Older vehicles don't give up codes for everything. read more

These guys are AMAZING at what they do ever since I had my first car Shannon has been my mechanic. He is a miracle worker on the classics I had a 67 as a kid and took that car everywhere LA, Laughlin, offroading ..... accidentally jumped a small washed out part of a dirt road lol I would break it take it to him and get it back in better condition then before. he'll be 100% honest with you If you go in and say "I think I need new brakes" they'll check them and ether tell you yea you do or you have so much percent left ....OH YEA and that's at no cost try and go to a dealership and ask the same question (just saying hi at a dealership Cost 80 bucks) they let you know so your not wasting your money on things you don't need I'm so glad he's teaching his kid the business because it's like having that favorite barber i won't go to anybody else read more
