Was in Manayunk this morning for a separate event and was able to stroll Main Street. A friend had…read moreheard about a nearby shop that sells Taylor Swift themed items and turned out it was Minor Details, right around the corner! The shop is small, but very cute. There are 3 stairs to enter through the front door, so please note this establishment is not wheelchair accessible. Inside, there were many local-themed items, such as Eagles and Phillies themed merch I hadn't seen elsewhere. I ended up purchasing some cute earrings as a gift. Things were reasonably priced for a niche boutique shop like this in Manayunk, though I wish their selection was bigger for pretty much everything in the store. There is a little photo area as well. In addition to Philly sports stuff, they also had candles (peep the ACOTAR candles below), Taylor Swift merch, and a decent greeting card spread.

However, the way it was explained came across as rude, and no alternative options were offered. She did assist me with choosing a helmet, and a younger staff member upstairs (with glasses) was very helpful and took the time to help me. Despite that, I left feeling uneasy after my initial interaction. First impressions matter.

This hurts me to write this because I am all about small businesses, but Buckman's did me wrong…read moremultiple times. Bottom line: If you want to get your skis serviced in a timely manner, go somewhere else because this place doesn't have its systems in order to keep their timing promises + I hope you are also comfortable with slack mask-wearing discipline during COVID. Broken Customer Promises: 1. Broken Promise 1 - Failed to Keep to Servicing Schedule: Turned in skis for rush servicing with promises of next business day completion. The next business day, I was informed my skis would be 3 days late. 2. Broken Promise 2 - Failed to Keep Customer Service Remediation Promise: I was promised that to make amends for the lateness, they would ship my skis to me after service (I live 2 hours away - hence I requested a rush). When I called, they backtracked on the promise. Other Issues: 1. It was very blatantly obvious that one of the more senior store staff that interacted with customers struggled to keep his mask on. Occasionally it was on, but it was most often off (as in mouth and nose open). The rest of the staff kept their mask on and had no issues. 2. There was mass confusion of where lines were and where to go for specific services (paying, seeking product advice, ski servicing) and etc. People were standing around waiting for service. Deeper Operations Problems: I stood around long enough to overhear an interesting conversation between the staff and customers about the store's issues. Apparently, there are two digitally tracking systems for ski servicing that don't talk to each other. So although everyone is supposed to get an automated text and email, its very easy to fall in between the cracks (like me), if it is input in the wrong system. The staff was consistently checking between the two data systems, an easy point of mistakes and inefficiency. The Staff is Great Though: While I was standing around, I did see lots of friendly and caring staff helping people find the best gear. They seemed like lovely people. However, they were clearly overwhelmed and clearly sagged with bad systems + management struggles. Final Thoughts: I hate to sandbag a small business with so much history in the community, but they really did me wrong. I had to spend $300 (in extra travel and lodging costs since I was from out of town visiting family) + adjusted my winter plans because a business could not keep their word. I also canceled visiting family out of an abundance of caution after interacting with the non-mask wearing customer service person. Thanks Buckman's.

My school has been using B&E for 25 years and have always loved their commitment to quality throughout the whole process. I just did a small personal order with them and the quality of customer service and product was the same as it is when I do my massive school order. They always deliver high quality printed shirts and are always on time for delivery. They're a great family owned and operated business. It's been a pleasure to work with the different generations over the years. The customer service is great. Being we have such big orders there are bound to have a few minor issues or missing shirts. Billy and Carol gave their direct numbers to call if we need something and they always drop off the missing shirts that day. Their artists are very helpful with finalizing designs and making great suggestions. Their prices are the best around. They're great for local orders. Easy to get to their location offices in Broomall. When you go in, everyone in the office is super friendly and very helpful. Not including pictures of the shirts we've had made for privacy reasons but I promise they are great quality that lasts for years.

I just last night came up with an idea as a Father's Day gift for my husband, a personalized tee shirt since he's about to start coaching. I knew getting a custom shirt two days before Fathers Day was a long-shot, but called this morning to ask. The woman who answered started to say that an order would typically have to be in before, but as she spoke she cut herself short in her sentence and said, actually, we have basic alphabet letters here and I'm sure we can figure something out. Why don't you come on in and we'll make it work." I was so thrilled. I headed over and everyone was happy to help. The young man working the letter ironing was also great (ironically, I noticed he was in the middle of creating the kids' tee shirts for the league my husband will be coaching)...he was happy to stop what he was doing, went to find me a good tee shirt to use, made suggestions on what would look nice, and finished the shirt in minutes. Lastly, because of the incredible sidewalk sale they have going on right now, the charge for this was so cheap I thought I heard him wrong. My husband's family are lifelong friends of the Lloyds, but the employees of course didn't know this about me while taking care of me today. I left thinking that it's very cool to know that they clearly treat all of their customers like family, because they took care of me as if I was a family member asking for a special favor. The…read moreselection is nothing compared to, say, Mitchell & Ness downtown, but they claim to have the "best deals in Philly" on these authentic jerseys and fitted caps. (I'm not enough of an authority to make any judgment myself.) The stuff they do have all fits into the "urban chic" style. 95% of their hats are Yankees (weird, right, since we're in Philly) -- I'm talking 20+ different styles of NY hats. They have the new Iverson jerseys, with Denver, and a bunch of stuff that will make you look really cool if you're going to a hip-hop night spot, but if you're looking for a rare or vintage jersey, I highly doubt you'll find it here.

Their prices are also about $10 less than other running stores I've been to, so that's great too. The only reason it didn't get 5 stars is that there is no treadmill to 'try them out,' and no place to really even walk around to see how they feel....but their return policy is generous, so that shouldn't be a big deal.
