We hired Phil's Moving for our move from NY to NC. We rented a 26' U-Haul that we planned to drive to NC ourselves. We weren't sure that the truck was large enough to get all of our items in (it wasn't). I wish I'd payed more attention to how things were packed. My Amish made dining room table was placed under another Amish kitchen table (feet first!) on top of it, and a weight bench was placed in-between. The dining room table on the bottom was scratched and dented, and the legs for the table on top broke. Both were damaged due to the weight of the items. Additionally, there were hand and foot prints on my light couch. I spoke with Tim regarding my dissatisfaction. I recognize that they are not responsible for damage that occurs during transit, but this is a result of poor packing. Tim's response was that his guys are good packers and that we were expecting them to fit everything in the truck. This was not the case. After our tables and couch were loaded, there was still 3/4 of room left in the truck. We had about $8,000 worth of damage, and Tim said there was nothing they could do. I contacted Tim from Phil's Movers and it was wonderful working with him and his crew. Tim promptly gave me an estimate based on the size of my house which I believe was reasonable. He worked with my schedule and found a good date and time very quickly after we first got in touch with each other. On moving day, three movers came and worked super efficiently to get everything done. Nothing was broken! Also, as an aside, as a single female I felt safe and comfortable around the movers. They were very professional. Everything made it into the room it needed to be in at my new house. The crew worked with almost no direction after an initial walk through at both locations. Note: I was moving from a partially furnished rental to my own house so it was very important they didn't pack and load what wasn't mine. One last thing was the rig they used - it was a very clean, covered trailer. They brought a bunch of moving pads which is great because I did t have any of my own. I had contacted 1 of the bigger moving companies in the Elmira NY area and received an estimate which I thought was rather high but since we were moving from Horseheads to Fairport, NY I thought probably the price was in the ballpark. So fast forward a few weeks and I had sent an email to this bigger company to set up a move date but never heard back. So fortunately I was sitting at the gas station in Horseheads when this moving truck went by and I was fortunate to catch the name on the door, Phil's Moving company. So I looked them up, contacted them and gave him a list of what I had to move and he gave me an estimate of 10 hrs at $175 as Fairport is 2 hours away. The big guys charge by weight and mileage so not much flexibility on price. With Phil's hourly rate there's a chance if the guys work quickly and efficiently the price could be less. So on moving day Scott, Albert and Mike pulled up and got right to it being careful with our furniture but working efficiently. They got loaded quickly, said they were gonna just make a quick stop at Dandy and head up. I took right off and drove straight up and only beat them by 5-10 minutes. And then as loading the unload was just as quick and efficient as the loading and the final cost was $600+ less than the estimate and almost 2/3 less than the big guys. I was very happy with the whole process and tipped them appropriately. I will pass the information onto the buyer of our house as he's also moving from 2 hrs away. We hadn't planned on hiring a moving company for our recent move from a second story duplex to our first home. My husband's back isn't in any shape for moving large objects and all of our boxes and I had to talk him into this. I contacted and received quotes from several large moving companies in the region. We found their rates to be pretty high so I kept digging for a smaller and preferably local family company. Tim at Phil's Moving came out and gave us an estimate for our move that was very reasonable. We liked Tim and booked with him as soon as we set a closing date. His crew of movers is friendly, efficient, caring. I felt like we had family members helping us out. We've recommended Phil's to friends and will continue to do so. read more

I was referred to Phil's Moving by another (large) mover in town who could not be available when I needed. Timothy returned my call within a couple of hours, and confirmed they were available on the date in question. They pre-confirmed the date and time ahead of the move and on moving day, they arrived on time, worked very hard in horrible heat, were polite, well-spoken, and attentive to my needs and directions. It took 2 loads in the course of 1 day to move me completely. They took a needed dinner break (did not charge me for it) and finished the day afterward. I would highly recommend them for your moving needs. I have only good things that I can say about the company and the moving crew. I had a piano to move too, and they did a fantastic job getting it not only moved, but down a flight of stairs at the new house ! Moving is always expensive, and most movers do charge the same hourly rate what with time, labor and gas expense. But, I don't mind the bill quite as much when I receive great service. A HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT!! Tim, at Phil's Moving, has no business running this company. He incorrectly judged the time and space needed to move us. As a result, we moved a day later, after 2 trips, due to not enough skilled drivers, an $800 charge for his mistake AND countless damaged items and furniture. He has yet to get back to us with insurance claim information for the damages , WHICH WAS PAID FOR. He could not be reached at all during the move and completely took advantage of the fact that this was a long distance move. I would NOT recommend this organization to do any work for you if you value your possessions and your money! read more
