I have a high mile car (over 200k) still running well but who knows for how long...Anyhow I was able to come in and get four lightly used tires mounted, balanced, and out the door for $310 all in. These guys are amazing! My truck had been having vibration problems at highway speeds. Took it to several shops, had tires rebalanced, rotated, etc but none of them found the real problem: My truck had been sitting for a long period of time at some point and had developed flat spots on the tread. They found the problem in less than 5 minutes and had a new set of tires on my truck in less than 30 minutes! Their team is incredibly efficient and friendly. .I had a donut on one tire then a screw in another so I couldn't hold off anymore. It was pretty easy to find but I kinda didn't see it at first because of the two police cars parked on the lot! 0_0 need not to worry because they were looking for someone in the houses down the block. My tire was actively going flat so I pulled up on the lot anyway. As soon as I pulled up, there were mostly younger fellas walking around, one immediately walked up to me and asked if I was helped (wow) so I gave him my story, he priced my tires ($40 for one, $15 to plug the other...cool) he quoted me on another of my tires that's losing tread and the price was still reasonable but I decided to just get what I came for. The inside office is like your typical tire shop office (I like the smell of tires for some reason) so I didn't mind sitting in one of the 4 sweaty dirty seats. They're pretty friendly in here which is all I can ask for being a woman. I was sure I was going to get shafted since I didn't walk in here with my husband. It only took 15 mins!!! I've been going to Phil's Tire shop since they were up in the Patch neighborhood of Carondelet. A few years ago they moved a little further south on Broadway to Lemay into a bigger shop. The building used to be the old Bob Parolin Auto repair place. If you need a GOOD quality used tire this is the spot. They have every kind of tire price range from the cheap-to-get-you-by to almost new ones. The place looks like an old time grease shop and that's what it is. But these dudes KNOW tires, rims, and flats. It's a Blue Collar vibe but every time I've been there I've gotten friendly service and months later all of their used tires are still chugging along just fine. They're not far from Jefferson Barracks park, which is a little known but GORGEOUS County Park to cycle in. A few cyclists have picked up on this spot and if you need air in your tires Phil's will help! yesterday I stopped in to air up my bike tires. The staff treated me just like any other customer and were happy to check the required PSI and air 'em up for free. So don't be afraid to stop in here. I had the unpleasant experience of visiting Phil's twice after my GF recommended it as "cheap and friendly". She was thrilled that she paid around 25 bucks less per tire than in a full-guaranteed place. I should have known then. She had a bulge in her "new tire" in about 2 weeks and was thrilled they DID give her a new one. Well I bought 2 tires for my car for the same price, had a flat tire in 2 days and had to go to the trouble of changing my flat tire to take it to them, initially saying they had 5 day warranty on these cases. Ruined my weekend. I read a poor review on bing and should've listened to it. I hope you listen to me and turn to more professional, legitimate places to get your tires so your purchase will be backed up for a tires lifetime. read more

They always find a set that works. They have almost new tires to half worn and price accordingly. I got 4 like new tires installed for 250. Tire rack same tires were 417 then you have to install them. I was out the door in 45 minutes. Best bang for the buck. read more

I bought a couple of used rims from a nearby scrapyard {Modern Imports, another great place to do business with!}, and one of the guys there recommended Phil's for fast, easy service to change my tires out to the 'new' wheels. He was so right! The guys there had me in and out in less than 1/2-hour. They were friendly, fast efficient and inexpensive!! One of the rims I had bought had a crack in it, which I missed seeing; they pointed it out, and it turned out that I really only needed to replace one of my old wheels. However, they re-balanced the old tire/wheel for me at no charge. I was really happy with the service, and LOVED the old time atmosphere of the place and the courtesy of the folks that work there! Hate your car? Hate your money? If so, this is the shop for you. If not, read on. When getting used tires from this shop, they cross-threaded all 5 of the lug-nuts on one of my wheels. Two weeks later I returned with receipt explaining the situation, and the owner Keith refused to take responsibility for his worker's actions, then 'offered' to fix the damage at a price that he would still profit from. May these actions cost them more than the $20 it would have been to replace my wheel bolts (Keith said he'd 'meet me in the middle' for $35). I had to fix the problem myself, out of my pocket. I just visited Phil's for the 1st time the other day. This was the third place I visited on the hunt for a new rim since my rim got cracked. Every other place I visited said it was shot but Keith, the man in charge, refused to let me leave. He gave me a name of a alluminum welder not to far from his place and said if anyone can fix it they can. They ended up fixing the "unfixable" rim. I went back and got a good deal on some decent tires. I saved over 100 and had if fixed the same day. I will visit Phil's every time I have a tire issue from now on! read more
