Local gem. Only cambodian vietnamese restaurant in town. Best bbq. Huge portions. I have been a huge fan of this place since I discovered it when Covid lockdown ended. It has vietnamese dishes with a more stronger taste of lemongrass. Which gives it more flavour. I just love the vietbodian combo dish which is an assortment of grilled meats and shrimp on rice. It is insanely addictive. The beef satay soup is also one of the best deals in the city because of it huge portion is good enough for 2 people. A must order is their unique dishes like their cambodian spring rolls and kuy keav toh soup which is a local fave of dry vermicelli noodles. The food is fresh with what I call american sized bowls for the biggest portions for less than $20. They have daily specials with an appetizer and drink for just $18.50. This place is a gem because it is rare to find a local business that makes everything from scratch with love and care like this place. If you heard any good hype about this place. Excellent service here. Small family run business and the friendliness and care of customer service shows. Food was great. Beef Saté is second best here. Really good! Spring rolls great. A bit greasy but they were really tasty. Tried their dish that's been raved about. Prahok Ktiss....EXCELLENT!!! I really need to follow Kristen K more. We seem to love the same stuff hahah I almost gave less a star because although they bring green tea as included, which I love and every place should do this...they don't bring water to the table. Went here again to try out the food. Everything was fresh and flavourful. I particulary loved the salad rolls which where stuffed with flavourful herbs and plump shrimp. The mango chili shake was fantastic although was the last thing to arrive at the table. Spring rolls were tasty and crisp. The Beef Satay Noodle Bowl was delicious and vibrant. Service was a bit on the slow side, but the server was really friendly. My cousin chose the 4 colour vermicelli bowl and she really enjoyed it as well. I do enjoy this menu because there are some specific Cambodian dishes rather than just the typical Vietmanese ones. This menu will get me to come back and try more things. Just don't be in a rush. I have to say that service was slow. Particularly for a Vietmanese restaurant. But it is worth the wait. read more

If you are reading this on a Tuesday, just cry and sleep until it's Wednesday.) So glad fellow Yelper Cindy K posted a pic the other day of shaved ice here. I ended up messaging her and deciding that I HAD to come here as soon as we got back from vacation. This place was amazing! Every single thing we had was amazing. The Strawberry Bubble Tea was the best we have ever had and melt my son quite happy along with a crispy hot golden mountain of green onion cakes. Hubs and I asked our server for recommendations of his fave items! We started with a Cambodian appy- #11 Prahok ktiss $11. Think heavenly ground meat in a scrumptious savory and slightly sweet sauce that you dip veggies into! I know, my description sucks but this was amazing and we can't wait to go back for it. The purple cabbage was like a vegetable tortilla chip! Next up was #24 Large Super Satay $14. Soooo good, so big, absolutely scrumptious. I swear there was coconut milk in it here - sooo different and delicious! And although we were full we still managed to share the special of the day - Ban Xeo Cambodian style $12 (delicious crepe filled with ground meat and bean sprouts with veg and fish sauce on the side). Everything was amazing! We can't wait to go back again! Oh and the decor was modern and fresh! Loved the wallpaper that looked like grey wooden planks. There was a stunning mural on the north wall. This urban noodle shop is a really bold and special step in Edmonton cuisine. Let me preface this with some background. The owners are two young families who have been in the restaurant business for years and years. Namely, one half of them have been a part of the fabric of the many terrific "pho" restaurants in the city. So, specifically, this is the second generation of restauranteurs whose families are culturally blended (Vietnamese / Cambodian). Their vision has included introducing the market with authentic Cambodian fare. This being said, it is a tremendous risk, because there has not been any successful attempts at bringing the unique flavours of Cambodia to the community in a open to the public outlet. The outcome has been well thought out and researched, and comes with a combination of surprising flare and taste. A first visit, outside of a pleasant interior with booths and several flatscreens playing asian music videos and regular cable channels, the menu will provide a lot of chuckles and deep study of what all the offered items exactly are. The names of some of the dishes are classic dishes named with contemporary and youthful humour (ie. item 12: "Pho Shizzle" is a familiar rare beef with extra beef meat items). Other items are traditional Cambodian names, which I admittedly, know very little about... But this is part of the adventure of Cambodian traditional foods which have never been presented to Edmonton foodies ever before. AND its surrounded by familiar Vietnamese and south east asian choices to make the journey less risk laden. This is why I feel the need to praise this new concept of restaurant. There are also fusion dishes and drinks which are bound to strike people's fancy. Just to mention here, the freshness and attention to detail of all the items I sampled has been stellar and a very nice surprise. However, knowing the owners standards for quality, service and cleanliness, it really should not have been surprising at all. On my visits, I had a Cambodian beef soup (Somlor Machu Kreung Poh Ko) and the "what the pho" with coconut and mango bubble tea(s).... oh and the green onion cakes (which I will add at this point, are light and airy with plenty of thinly rolled oniony crispy layers!) The Somlor Machu Kreung Poh Ko is a slightly sour and pungent soup over rice dish with delicately cooked water spinach stalks and ultra tender beef. I am learning that one of the main soup flavours is from tamarind which gives the mild sourness I can identify with the Cambodian palette. I enjoyed it very much. Truly unique, and is just scratching the surface of the Cambodian food experience. Of course, the true test is the "pho". If you want to explore new things it's one thing, but sometimes/most times if we want to bring friends and folks with less adventurous taste buds we will need to sell them on the pho... the owner sampled me his latest broth the other day, and I actually had my doubts. His mother is a true expert, and I wasn't totally sure I would be sold on her son's take on an old tradition... This was truly good broth. The secret being the freshness and quality of the meats and the simmering beauty of flavours which playfully accompany them. I was told the brisket was of particular quality, and so I equate it to the knowledge and experience of how to feature the flavour of the meat without becoming leathery in aroma. I hope this restaurant can keep the quality of this broth going every time. If so, this might be the... shizzle. The bubble teas are hand made I believe. As in, they had chunks of fruits and ice which added to the homemade and authentic appeal of this dining experience. A really nice touch and I see that the Mango-chili drink special is a clear favourite, as it is served each time I have been through. The great thing is, the prices are reasonable, and the atmosphere is relaxed. Its really a terrific accessible location, and there is plenty of reasons to come back with a loaded menu. Its only been a week, so it can only get better as these young brave entrepreneurs work their Asian magic on the tongues and stomachs of lucky patrons. read more

This is a north-side hidden gem in Edmonton. Great food with reasonable prices. If your tastes run to explore the more exotic side of culinary options, this is fantastic spot to experience new tastes. After reading all the great reviews on here, decided to place a delivery order via Uber Eats. Ordered the no. 37 which had pork chop, egg, various meats and a spring roll. Enjoyed it but I think this would taste even better hot and straight from the kitchen. Sure the 15 minutes or so delivery took away from how the dish would be. I also ordered the green onion cake. You get 2 very nice portion sizes. One of the better green onion cakes I've had. I would love to give this place a try again, but dine in since as I mentioned, the food just isn't the same delivered as straight from the kitcheb IMO. read more

Ok. Vietnamese and Cambodian husband and wife combo. What could go wrong? Answer, NOTHING!! SERIOUSLY, try both the Vietnamese and the Cambodian spring rolls. You decide which you like better. I couldn't. I order both every time. The menu has a variety from both cultures and honestly I've never picked a bad combination. They pride themselves as being the first Cambodian restaurant in the city and even though I've looked, I couldn't find another, so I have to give the title to them. They are both ridiculously friendly and accommodating. You literally feel like you're in their living room watching TV or something with them. Highly recommend them. I ordered from skip the dishes tonight and was extremely happy with my meal. My mom and I got a Cambodian chicken sub to share, and a bowl of pho each. We were stuffed silly and have leftovers, even though we only ordered the regular size. Everything was incredible tasty and fresh. The food came piping hot, hot enough that the broth cooked my rare beef easily when I added it in. The bun on the sandwich was still crusty and the toppings fresh. Pho or Kuy Teav Noodle Shack is the best and only restaurant that serves authentic and delicious Cambodian and Vietnamese food in Edmonton and probably all of Alberta. It's located in a tough looking neighborhood, but we regular customers knows the owners are genuine and hard-working. They're not a chain but family-owned. The food stands out without help but the business is worth supporting during COVID-19 times or any times really. As a function of portion size, the prices are 20-30% higher than they should be in my considered opinion. The place is in an older style strip mall on 97 St but the interior and decor are fine. We were the only ones in the restaurant when we got there and understand that they close on Tuesday. My only comment is that the portions are small for the price you pay. When you have a large option and the food comes out and there are not a lot of noodles in your bowl, I was wondering what a regular would have been like. Otherwise, the owner seemed friendly and served us just fine. The spring rolls were good, but it was interesting that we got two types of spring rolls. One traditional and another seemed liked it was wrapped in bean curd? The names of the dishes are fun and an attempt to be a little more hip. Not sure if I will go back. read more
