You can always tell a teacher who doesn't have their heart in the art of dance. But then again, how can they when they're so over worked? We came here from another studio- if you're looking for something on the core foundation side of dancing- it's not really here. This is more fun, entertaining and keeps your kid active. Which is good, yes! But I understand to more advanced dancers, some classes here would probably seem like a joke. Parking lot is always chaos. Recitals? Wishy washy and chaotic- I guess that can be normal for recitals. Expect your entire day to be solely based on the recital day.. as it is mandatory for all dancers to be there for dress rehearsal and then come back later for the recital itself or literally just hang out all day there till the recital starts. Which is normal for recitals. I say wishy washy because despite other parents busting their butts to get their kid to dress rehearsals, they still let other dancers do the recital sans the rehearsal. Which isn't bad, but I think it's some sort of favoritism. Having volunteered to help in the back, I've witnessed them turn young dancers away from participating in the recital because they missed rehearsal.... and then I've witnessed them let other dancers participate despite missing dress rehearsal?........ Why did it bother me? Well, because I saw a few kids hearts get stomped on after they were turned away and not allowed to dance. Then I saw a few others skip happily on in. Kinda left a sour taste in my mouth. 2 stars because they do keep kids busy and entertained while in class.

The journey has not lacked complaining, but generally, they come out of class drenched in sweat, but with smiles on their faces. I think they are healthier and stronger from the consistent exercise. Solis Martial Arts is trying not only to produce good martial artists, but also good members of the community. Ms. Carla is the owner but also teaches some of the classes. She's very friendly and has been more than fair to us over the years. Our kids' classes have the option of going up to 4 times a week. That gives us some flexibility given that we try to get the kids there 3 times a week. Overall, we've really enjoyed the program and being part of the Solis Martial Arts family. A good business starts with people and there are 2 good ones currently managing things there.

I look forward to seeing my daughter continue leveling up at SMA. Thank you SMA for all that you do!!

Kim is an excellent trainer in Hercules. Her sessions are like getting personal training attention…read morewith group/team support. I'm not the biggest fan of working out but I love going to her classes and feel accomplished after her workouts. The class sizes are small with anywhere from approx 2-6 people per session. You workout as a group but everything is personalized for each individual (Kim tells you how much weight to grab) and everything is done at your own pace so you don't have to worry about what level your fitness or strength is at... Just know you'll be getting stronger everyday from when you start! Many of the workouts include weights (dumbbells, kettle bells, etc), TRX/resistance bands, boxing, etc... Keeps the workout fun and challenging every time. If you have an injury or issue holding you back, Kim will modify a workout that's best for you. Give her a try, you won't be disappointed. Kim's hours are Monday-Friday 10:30-11:30am 11:30-12:30 4:00-5:00pm 5:00-6:00pm She also has a 3:00-4:00pm session on Fridays and 9:30-10:30 class on tues/thurs.

She feels honored that you are including her in this big step and it shows. She personalizes your workouts to what YOU need and she is always there if you have questions, concerns or are on the verge of a mental breakdown because you think it's too hard and you can't go on. When you first start you think she is only your trainer and that she will be barking orders at you like you are a Marine in bootcamp but quickly you discover that she has a specially way to motivate you without getting in your face (don't get me wrong, she will give you a subtle nudge when she sees you not doing the routine lol) and best of all she becomes one of your best friends! All of her clients are nice, fun people and we all become a little family, or as she calls us....her army of badasses! Lol Come join the fun! There is always room for more in Kim's Army!
