If I were basing my review soley on the doctor (Abraham) I would give five stars. However, Bob at the front desk was a wise ass, so I shaved off one star. I highly recommend Dr. Abraham. I have seen her twice for ingrown toenails. Once five years ago (still feels and looks great), then again today for the other foot. The procedure was quick and painless and is permanent. Dr Montes is the absolute best!! She was at another practice that was right across from my job, so when she moved to Phoenix it was a considerable distance for me. However, she is well worth the drive! Her b aside manner is amazing and she extremely knowledgeable! She's caring and sensitive to your needs! I can't rave about her enough!! She's the best!!!!!!!! MISDIAGNOSIS AND INSURANCE COVERAGE ISSUES I experienced both administrative errors and a significant medical misdiagnosis by Dr. Montes. Back Office Errors When I first scheduled my appointments, I verified with the clinic that their services would be covered by my insurance. Over the course of my treatment, I attended two appointments and underwent several required medical tests, including x-rays and an EKG, all in preparation for surgery. Despite my initial confirmation that I was covered, I was informed just one day before my surgery--four months after my initial verification and after completing multiple tests and clearances--that Dr. Montes was not actually covered by my insurance. The only option presented to me was to pay out of pocket for the procedure. The Misdiagnosis I collected my medical records and consulted with an orthopedic surgeon. The surgeon reviewed the old and new x-rays as well as an MRI to rule out other possibilities (the first I'd had), performed a physical examination on my foot and toes, and responded with surprise. He explained that not only was the recommended radical fusion surgery unnecessary, but it would likely not resolve the nerve pain I was experiencing. Instead, he advised that I try custom orthotics to address the pain. He further explained that, if I wished, we could consider shaving the bone to correct the bunion in the future with just two small cuts and no fusion, but he did not recommend that approach at this time. His priority was to eliminate the nerve pain. Ultimately, instead of undergoing a procedure that would have fused my big toe and restricted its movement, I found relief with a simple shoe insert. Reflecting on the last-minute realization by staff that I was not covered by insurance, I now see it as a blessing in disguise. read more

BE CAREFUL My experience wasn't good in there. First of all, I was scheduled for a foot surgery. But, I was asking for to fix a fungus in my nail. They recommend me to remove my nail. Doctor did not do it right. He didn't took out my complete nail, till I called them some days later to let them know it. When I returned to check my finger, nail, they did not treat me polite, they were a kind of mad at me, but they saw it, how part of my nail still in my finger. About 25% I CANCELED MY SURGERY. If they did not do it right in a nail, I don't want to know what will happen with a bigger surgery. Note: after 2 hours of my nail removal, I called them to let them know, pharmacy did not catch any medicine order, pain killer. They just said , "that will be till tomorrow"... Dang, a nail removal is so painful, how can I wait to next day, for pain killer medicine. FUNGUS STILL STAND. Maybe because they did not removed nail correctly. Frustration. read more

I would like to update my review. I had a rough start at this spot, I think perhaps one of the staff members was having a day, but after that experience and voicing it, things turned around. The same person that I had friction with was kind and professional. Dr. Abraham was very good when she did my minor surgery and monitored it accordingly and today I am on the clear. My first visit with Pheonix Foot & Ankle Associates was during the holidays and the staff had decorated the offices. It was a warm, comforting reception (who likes going to a doctor?). From the moment I entered Phoenix Foot & Ankle Associates, I felt comfortable with my choice of using their services. The front office staff were polite and professional, and all staff were respectful of my time, but the camaraderie between staff members was obvious and as a patient I felt a part of their "family." Now, about Dr. Harlan. . .that is another story! He is the best in his profession. He is a "gentle giant" showing a friendly and caring attitude - he really does care about his patients! During my first appointment he explained in laymen's terms my ankle issue and available options with never any pressure for surgery. We opted for cortisone and stretching exercises but after a couple of years and breaking my foot last year, it was time to move from cortisone shots to ankle surgery. That was mid-April and I cannot believe the difference, even though I am still in the "healing" stage - it seems a lot longer since I had the surgery. I highly recommend Dr. Harlan! I love Dr. Abraham, I recommend her to all my friends experiencing any foot, ankle or toe issues. She listens so well and will work with you until you are happy. I have seen her for almost 10 years now specifically for corns and ingrowns. She will take care of the corn every time fully and is very careful in removing my ingrowns. The quality of care is PHENOMENAL here! I was probably a baby when it came to a tiny ingrown toenail that was bugging me. But they made me feel so comfortable and didn't make a big deal out of the fact that a minor issue bothered me so much. Put me at ease and took great care of me the whole time. I had a terrible experience in the past with another Podiatrist, so I was really scared to see one again. I'm happy to say that Dr. Harlan and his team are amazing. From the front desk, Dr's assistant and the Doctor himself, I had a wonderful appointment. The Dr's assistant asked questions so that the Doctor was fully prepared. The worst doctors office experiences I've never had. I went there to get my ingrown mail removed and they talked me into doing the procedure to get rid of them permanently. I was told it would all be covered in my copay and it was not, I had to pay an extra $50+. Second appointment- this is why I won't come back Second appointment was just suppose to be a quick checkup on my toe. I waited 42 minutes to see the doctor. No joke. I sat on the little examination room for 42 minutes. It's like everyone forgot I was there. I even came out of the room TWICE TO REMIND THE STAFF I WAS THERE WAITING. Once the doctor finally came in. She was in the room for less than 2 minutes, said my toe looked goof and I could go. I waited 42 minutes for that...what a joke. 2 months later My toe is not looking good at all! I called the office to ask if how my toe was feeling was normal. NO ONE ANSWERED, I left a message for a medical assistant AND I NEVER GOT A PHONE CALL OR EMAIL! So now I have a messed up looking toenail and 2 terrible experiences all from this lovely practice :) Bottom line- go anywhere other than here! read more

Dr Abram's was 45 minutes late for my appointment . She examined my feet, made a diagnosis and told her assistant to make molds of my feet. My husband had come here months earlier, had the same diagnosis, same insurance, and was told to fill out paperwork . His orthotics were covered by my insurance. I was not given any paperwork to fill out and the same insurance rejected my claim. I am now $500 poorer for orthotics that I can't wear because they make my feet hurt. read more

Absolutely the best care I have ever received, from start to finish, bar none! Dr. Harlan came well- recommended by peers and other health professionals. I am a health professional myself, and when my ankle turned past the point of tolerable, I saw Dr. Harlan to diagnose and recommend treatment. He was personable, friendly and frank. He did an exam and thoroughly explained to me what he thought was happening. He ordered an MRI that validated some of his concerns although didn't recognize what he knew was contributing to the problem. His ability to ascertain the extent of the problem, without imaging, was very impressive. My ankle reconstruction surgery was successful and my recovery was quicker than even he thought it would be. For 6 weeks I was non-weight bearing. At 6 weeks, I began weight bearing and at 8 weeks, I was walking pain free, 9 weeks- taking stairs and 10 weeks returning to normal life and feeling great. I had my appt. today (surgery 8/1) which is 11 weeks and I've been released to do whatever I want (within reason- no football yet- lol) and plan to be golfing this weekend. This guy is a great DR/surgeon and even better person. His office staff is exceptional and Dr. Abraham was so kind to help me when Dr. Harlan was out of town. Went here roughly 6 years ago and the orthotics they made - the old fashioned, hand-wrapped way, have served me well for the entire interim. Had to go back recently and service was also highly satisfactory in ease of scheduling, ability to get appointment in relatively short time, and diagnosis and treatment. Dr. H knew at my description of symptoms the problem and cured the discomfort in a literal matter of seconds, and explained future options should the no-cost instant relief he provided not hold.
