I paid my deposit and after a few weeks i started to feel really bad about it - it gave me a very uneasy feeling in my stomach everytime I thought about it - and then the more uneasy I felt - the more I thought about it to the point I couldn't sleep it worried me they would ruin my photos - they just didn't seem to be listening and I was allured by the price of their package. I went with my gut, against everyone's advice in the summer - I cancelled my contract, swallowed my deposit, and started my search again. Because I was getting married in only 3/4 months - on a very popular date (11/11) I didn't have many GOOD options left - and quickly was blowing through my limited options - even though they say beggars can't be choosers, I was expecting A LOT. I found Dawn online, and was IN LOVE with her portfolio - and I didn't really think she had my date available - but she did! I snached her up quickly before anyone else got to! We met with Dawn for the first time only a few short weeks before our wedding and we were in love with her. She really seemed to care about the details of our wedding, and that was important because I cared so much about all the small details of my wedding. We talked for a few hours and really felt like she was the perfect match for us. She showed up the morning of my wedding with her assistant Ashlyn. It was very important for us to have 2 photographers because we have 2 brides to focus on. Dawn was with me, and answered a lot of my questions about how things would go and all the wedding traditions. She such a pleasure to work with! and we had now booked separate photo and video companies - and they worked together like true professionals! you would swear the way they worked they'd be working for the same company. So in my bridal suite you had Dawn and my videographer moving couches and people's things around to get photos by the window. Meanwhile in my wife's bridal suite you had Ashlyn standing on the couches, laying over the videographer to get her shots. Dawn & Ashley wrangled up a bridal party of like 20 people and made sure we got our photos done quick in the cold without dealing with dilly-dallying from people. we called her "bubbly & on point!" which is exactly what she was. Everyone in our bridal party loved them because they were such a joy to work with. Also my wife had an allergic reaction to her makeup, and dawn said she will try her hardest to fix it for our wedding photos, and she DELIVERED! because my wife was like crying she was going to look ugly in all the pictures. Dawn did an amazing job at getting the photos with her head angled so you didn't notice, or get it far away so it didn't look bad at all. Our wedding photos are SO beautiful! and we are so incredibly thankful that we hired Dawn Joseph Photography for our wedding!! Her eye for photography was exactly what we needed for our New York City elopement. She followed us all around Central Park and Times Square trying to get the perfect photos. You didn't call or text to let me know you couldn't make it nor did you answer my calls when I reached out from Central Park. You didn't even try to make up for the situation by waiving the rush fee. She's definitely laid back and makes you feel comfortable. We were shooting in Central Park on a really cold cold COLD 39 degree weather day and although at times we were uncomfortable, because it was so cold, you couldn't tell in the pictures. I consider her fees to be reasonable and fair. After the meeting, we received our photos in about 10-12 days with roughly 80 images. I'd definitely recommend that you consider her for your big or small events and family photos! I'll be definitely keeping her in mind for the future.

We submitted a detailed shot list in advance, which the lead photographer, Lena, admitted she barely glanced at and chose to ignore. Important, personal photos we requested were completely missed--and somehow, we were blamed. Even though she admitted fault, we were told timelines were the issue. There was no accountability, and no apology. The video team missed a key moment from our reception and gave us a rushed trailer with mismatched music. When we flagged the errors (that should've been caught with a basic review), we were told we'd have to wait two more months for a revision. Absurd. We were constantly following up on every piece of this process--Photoshop edits, album corrections, video revisions. There was no quality control, no urgency, and we were the ones catching their mistakes over and over again. We even drove out to meet with them in person to get things resolved. Jovon, the owner, made a lot of promises--that we'd be made a priority, that things would be expedited. But afterward? Nothing. He called once, said he'd follow up, and then disappeared. No resolution, no genuine accountability. The admin, Lisa, was rigid with her limited schedule and not helpful when trying to coordinate team meetings. The editing team was sweet and you could tell they really cared to make us happy, but clearly inexperienced--we had to walk them through multiple corrections on video calls they'd never done before. For the price we paid, this lack of professionalism was shocking. The only bright spot was Carlos, their lead videographer. He was kind, positive, and tried his best--but unfortunately, his efforts were drowned out by the team's carelessness. In the end, we did get our final photos and videos only because we spent countless personal hours managing their process, reviewing everything ourselves, and doing the job they should have been doing. We really hate writing a review like this--especially about a family-owned business--but we gave them so many chances to make it right, and they just didn't care enough. If you're considering Jovon Photography: they will treat you like a priority until your wedding is over. After that, you'll be chasing them for months, fixing their mistakes, and left heartbroken by how little care is given to your most important memories.
