**UPDATE** So confused by Katrin's response to my earlier review. So here's what I have to say: First, I wish I had a personal assistant. I wish I had a job that could afford me the luxury of having someone leave my yelp reviews for me. I wish I earned enough that I wouldn't have to buy an engagement photographer off Groupon for $60. If I can afford a personal assistant than I definitely would've sprung for a photographer for a with better communication. But for right now I'm just a secretary with a very limited wedding budget. I put my faith in you to produce engagement photos I would love, but it's because of you that I don't have any photos to remember that part of my love story. Let me be clear, it wasn't an act of God or the weather I blame. You bailed. You didn't call or text to let me know you couldn't make it nor did you answer my calls when I reached out from Central Park. You didn't even try to make up for the situation by waiving the rush fee. So that's all on you. Second, I'm not sure who you're confusing me for, but we don't have 20 email exchanges. I have your initial email, the one's where we scheduled our first two appointments and then the one's where everything went wrong. If you care to see those than I'll post those too. My name (and my fiance's) are all over my screenshots, if you have any confusion as to who I am than that means you've disappointed a lot more people. Last, I was really rooting for you to respond well to this review. Instead of coming back with a mature response, you just pointed the finger right back at me and tried to intimidate me. I notice you did the same exact thing with the other negative review from January 2018. You attack anyone that doesn't like your method of customer service. It's actually very sad. Funny, creative, personal and thinks outside the box, in all the best photographer i could have asked to cover our photo shot. We've had many photo shots before, and most turn out like your ordinary glossy pics with standard poses and your average backdrops but Katrin sees outside the box. Through her lens she captures emotions that someone only with true grasp of photography can. She first tries to learn about your personality and then incorporates that in her art. She of course has her own style but ensures that your needs are also met. As a person she is someone you'd like to go grab drinks with. And this down to earth and eccentric personality of hers helps you loosen up and do things outside of your comfort zone, which at the end leaves you with truly memorable pictures. I'd gladly recommend her to anyone looking for a photo shot, especially if you'd like something that's unique. read more

We found this photographer via Groupon, and was excited to take some photos for our anniversary and support local artists. Well, Groupon has listed an email and phone number for contact to schedule an appointment. We sent a couple emails to that address with no response, so we then tried calling the number which had a vmail saying you need to email a completely different email address to schedule and to not leave a vmail. Tried that new email and sure enough the email bounced back being invalid. So three modes of communication failed and wasted time. read more

I've had photos with Katrin 4 times now-- maternity and newborn shoots for both of my kids. She checks all the boxes you want in a photographer (lovely person, makes you feel at ease, gets gorgeous pictures that make you look a lot more photogenic than you actually are, mix of posed and candid shots, good communication). She goes above and beyond on value (I found her through Groupon, but even without a Groupon her rates are way better than any other photographer I've found, and without sacrificing any quality in terms of her skill or the number of shots you get) and flexibility (we needed to reschedule one of our shoots very last minute because our toddler had broken out in a rash; Katrin was very accommodating). Also, this is sort of a niche interest, but she's amazing with cats. Was not expecting to be able to get family photos that involved wrangling a newborn, a toddler AND a cat, but she did! Even if you're not a cat person, you have to admit that's incredibly impressive. read more

Katrin is amazing. We were planning a NYC vacation when I came across Katrin's page. She responded timely and gave a lot of useful info about her photoshoot session. There was some weather issue the day before our scheduled time and Katrin was very accommodating and made it possible for us to have the photo session before we left NY. The session went well, she was on time, she also gave us a mini Central Park tour. I love her approach with natural photo shoot. Pictures are ready within a couple weeks as promised and we love every single one of them! Highly recommended! If you are looking for a talented and professional photographer, Katrin is the person to go to. I generally do not feel very comfortable in front of a camera and was a bit nervous before the shoot. But Katrin has a personality that will calm all your fears. She gave me many helpful suggestions along the way and was able to capture all the best moments. My husband and I did a Central Park maternity photo session with Katrin and she made our session fun, easy and very enjoyable. She had pre-selected spots in the Park and was super focused on getting the shoots right. She paid great attention to details (dress placement, rings, etc). I NEVER write reviews but for Katrin, I make exceptions. Katrin is an exceptional photographer and a beautiful soul. She's been our family photographer for 4 years now and I refuse to let anyone else do our pictures. She's professional yet fun and always makes it so easy to complete the shoot. She is precise in her punctuality and always flexible with us when it comes to our schedules. During the shoots, she never shys away from moving our stroller, holding a bag, cleaning a nose, fixing someone's hair, etc. My son adores her and looks forward to working with her every year as do we. I personally hate having pictures taken but I magically forget about all of my insecurities when she's behind the camera. Her rates are SUPER affordable but her work reflects that of a celebrity photographer. If you're in need of anything from weddings to holiday photos and anything in between, there's no one I would recommend more. Hire her- you won't regret it!! read more

Scheduled a shoot with Katrin in October 2018 letting her know we would be in NYC from out of town Thanksgiving weekend. Received several emails from her confirming our appointment, even received an email the day before pictures to let us know she would see us the next day. At 1am the morning of our shoot I received an email from Katrin canceling our scheduled shoot with zero explanation and a suggestion that we reschedule for the following month. I have never submitted a review on Yelp but felt the need to do so for Katrin. She is simply a joy to work with and we cannot say enough great things about her as a person and her work. We traveled to NY from out of town for a weekend getaway and was referred to Katrin by our friend who had worked with her on a wedding photo. We emailed her about her availability for engagement photos and not only did she respond right away- gave us a great deal as well! That's the one thing about Katrin- she is super responsive and flexible. Leading up to the day of the 1 hour session she responded to all our questions and kept tabs on us. We decided to do our session in High Line which was an area we were not familiar with and we are so glad we did! What a great place and she knew the place so well! The weather was gloomy with some sprinkles of rain but she had told us this type of weather actually suits her style. After our session she immediately sent us a sneak peak and she was right! The photo was amazing and can't wait to see the rest! The thing about Katrin is she is so personable and made us laugh the entire time. Being affectionate and posing for photos in NY can feel daunting but with Katrin constantly talking with us and making us laugh made it feel so comfortable. Time flew by because of her working style and the fact that she knew the area so well- she is super efficient! She kind of acted as a mini tour guide for us too! Katrin was incredible! Her shots are beautiful! I had my family pictures done with her in Central Park. She picked beautiful backgrounds with natural lighting and beautiful angles of my husband & dog. The great part was that she was very familiar with the areas she wanted to shoot at so nothing was taking too long. She also doesn't do cheesy poses that you get at a studio. I had really high hopes since Katrin's other reviews were so great, but I never actually got to experience working with her since she cancelled on me the day before our scheduled maternity shoot. As a Communications Director that works with photographers for a living, I was clear about what I was looking for. The day before the shoot, I asked for her opinion on the time of day we were shooting, and she decided that would be the appropriate time to cancel. While her portfolio is beautiful, the professionalism and commitment leave something to be desired. It was a completely overcast day in Central Park, I was getting over a cold and to make matters worse, I was running late so I was already a bit harried by the time I got there. However, Katrin was so pleasant and easy to work with from the get go, and put us as ease right away! My fiancé and I never did a photo shoot before, individually or as a couple, and were worried the photos wouldn't turn out well. Well, good thing Katrin is a magician because she made us look GOOD! We went to High Line Park and she knew all the right poses, places to shoot, where the lighting is most flattering, and was aware of our surroundings and timing to get the perfect shot each time (it's not easy navigating through crowds of tourists, but our photos made it look like we were the only ones there!). She made us feel so comfortable that even 10 minutes in, it felt like my fiancé and I were on a date having fun, and we forgot about being uncomfortable in front of the camera. There was a quick (2.5 weeks) turnaround on edited photos and communication all throughout the process was excellent. Katrin has style, a good sense of humor and is very professional.
