The workout program is designed to fit my needs/weaknesses. The group format is fun, everyone has their own program to work on while the trainer is spotting you or correcting you or even challenging you to get stronger. He strikes a good balance between pushing you a level above where you'd go without injuring/killing you.. He works the room well and gives custom coaching to each person and is really good at balancing attention across multiple people in a group class in an effective and motivating way. He's knowledgeable about all the basics of diet and exercise and has a real passion to teach and share his knowledge. I myself have gotten a good deal stronger and more fit since doing 2 classes a week with Ian and a lot of the exercises he teaches I now build into my individualize workouts and that's been really good value too. I have hired a number of personal trainers in the Danbury CT area over the last 15 years and my experiences have been from disgusted to helpful and good. Some trainers have put me on machines, count reps, while looking at their phone, and telling me to run on a cardio machine for 10 minutes to "warm up" amidst my paid session!....This is not acceptable when I am paying around $60/hr! Other trainers are more engaged, and had me use free weights which are a lot better than machines to burn calories. However, a few of these trainers pushed heavy weights on me which I DID NOT feel comfortable lifting at the risk of getting hurt! I have had a couple good trainers that got me in better cardio condition but I sadly never seemed to lose weight because they didn't talk to to me about my nutrition. I had a 45 minute in depth consultation with the coaches at TFW and then they evaluated by body composition with this fancy machine that even let me know my water weight. Then they explained everything and let me know what I need to improve on, how they can help through both training and especially nutrition and would re-evaluate me monthly to make sure my numbers are going in the right direction and I am happy with my results! I have been coming to TFW 4 days a week for the last 6-1/2 months and I have a training package(without contracts) that has me doing a 1on1 session with the owner Andreas & 3 1-hour group classes with his associate Debra. They both push me & motivate me safely to my potential and I always feel like I got a great workout feeling good and wasn't crushed above my means. The other clients in the groups are really nice, supportive people that I have gotten to know personally and can call them my friends. A great friendly environment where I feel like part of a family. I am now back in town visiting friends for the holidays and I made it a priority to schedule in time again on the Power Plate with Pilates. I have not found a substitute near my new residence and my body is really missing these workouts. It wasn't until I stopped going (after 4 years of regularity) did I realize how toned and muscular these sessions truly kept me. I may have to move back...I miss them so much!

What they do a little differently is combine it with Pilates instruction and offer several reformers and apparatus. The instruction is absolutely stellar. Alison does an outstanding video version of a mat class workout. If you position the iPad properly she can make corrections, leads the workout in an orderly sequence, counts for you and controls your breathing even though a remote session.
