Today is an example of how exceptional they are. I was inadvertently 1/2 hour late for my appointment. They send you plenty of reminders, but I read my calendar wrong and showed up late. However, they were still able to work me in, for which I was grateful. They are professional and courteous. You can't go wrong here.

Aside from the helpful admin experiences, I've always had great dermatology care. Joyce is wonderful!! She somehow remembers details of my life even though I'm only one patient out of so many she sees just once a year. I recommend her to anyone looking for dermatology, however Greg Morrison is also a great option for a provider here. I mostly do yearly skin checks but have also had procedures done (mole removals) and allergy testing. The allergy testing was thorough and Joyce set me up with the CAMP app which helps me determine products that are safe for me to use for my allergens. The copay for my insurance is $40 which seems appropriate but each insurance will vary as to price and coverage.

Okay, so I have a pretty confusing view on this place, but to be fair they did an amazing job with…read moremy skin treatment. Dr. Darling and her nurses were very professional and to the point. The front desk staff was super friendly and helpful. The only reason I am giving this place 3 stars instead of 5 is because they sent me to collections the day before my last appointment, which I had no idea I even had a bill due, but would've been happy to pay that next day on my appointment. When I arrived for my appointment they asked for more info than usual and said they have a new system. They didn't say anything about a bill due, which if they have in the past it completely slipped my mind because my appointments have been months and months apart. I've had many different bills in the past few years, it's hard to keep track of which ones the insurance takes care of and which ones require a little more. When I called billing they were very defensive and seemingly had no customer service skills whatsoever and left me never wanting to return to Midwest Dermatology again, which sucks because I never really had a bad experience so far. Granted I should've updated my address, but because I am a student and still under my mothers healthcare plan, I was pretty sure they were all going straight to my mothers address. I even told the lady in billing I'd be more than happy to pay and not arguing whether I owe or not, but that it just seems really messed up that I got sent to collections one day before my next appointment. She couldn't even apologize for the inconvenience or for the system being new to have caused extra confusion. To me that's all this is, is an inconvenience because at the time of my appointment I was doing well financially and now a debt collector is calling me right before Christmas. My appointment was only 5 months ago?! like what?! I asked to speak to a supervisor and got sent to a voicemail. Maybe the supervisor will call back and change my mind. If I could rate the billing department on its own I would give them 1 star for interrupting a customer, lack of understanding, and just poor customer service. Plus wouldn't it make more sense to just have better customer service especially if I was offering to pay Midwest Dermatology directly? That would save them from having to pay debt collectors a 30-50% cut. I still can't believe the way their billing department was talking to me, the polar opposite of my experiences so far. Just wow... I asked billings when they called me and was told they called in July, but that I didn't have a voicemail setup, they sent me to collections late August without ever trying to call again. They could've done a little more in my opinion. Which is all I was trying to tell the lady, but all she could do is argue back and force while I tried to get her to understand why it seems messed up to me. Update: the billing supervisor never returned my call, I paid collections who were surprisingly friendly and had better customer service skills than this billing department. Best collections agency ever lol If it wasn't for billing being so rude, I would give this location, it's staff, and Dr. Darling 5 stars she's been amazing! I would gladly recommend them all to everyone for being so friendly, and professional, but I will let everyone I tell know to watch out for billing issues. It's unfortunate that their billing department is like that because other than that I have been thoroughly impressed!

I just used their online portal to schedule an appointment with Dr. Madson for June 3rd (one week from today). A few minutes later, they called me and said that since it had been 3 years since my last appointment, I would be considered a new patient. The first appointment they had available for a new patient was July 31st - over 2 months from now. I told them never mind - that I would go elsewhere. I realize I will probably have to wait at LEAST that long for a new dermatologist, but at least I actually WILL be a new patient.

Dr. Darling treated me with complete contempt, disdain, and disrespect at my appointment. I had…read moreasked her about which treatments might be best to rejuvenate or freshen up my skin. She repeatedly grabbed the skin on each side of my mouth and mushed it together and told me that my nasolabial folds and marionette lines were so deep and pronounced that there was "no amount of filler she could dump into them" that would help. She then proceeded to point out all of my perceived flaws to me one after another (crows feet, laugh lines, forehead lines, frown lines, lip lines, etc.) only to tell me that there were no injectables available that would help any of those problems either. She also told me that other treatments, such as lasers, would either have little or no effect treating the problems that she had outlined for me. She offered me the option of a $4,000 laser treatment, but also let me know that she thought it would have minimal, if any, effect. I don't know what kind of person shells out $4,000 for something that might have little to no results, but that person is not me. She then said, "You know what?" as she grabbed the skin on each side of my jawline and pushed it up so hard that my cheeks were shoved into my eyeballs, and then told me that what might really help me was a "major" facelift. She told me that a facelift could help get rid of "all the sagging skin" on my jawline and could also possibly help correct the "asymmetry" she had observed in my face. She then told me that she didn't perform facelifts and that she didn't think anyone else in Omaha could handle my situation either and that I would have to be willing to travel to a major city to find someone who could handle what I needed. She then pulled out her phone and started showing me the before and after photos of the patients of some instafamous plastic surgeon in New York City whose work she follows and greatly admires. By this point, I was so stunned and shocked, I could barely think or speak. As I realized that a trip to the instafamous doctor in New York City would probably deplete my savings to an unacceptable level, it occurred to me that by Dr. Darling's estimation, my only other option was to live in the shadows until death decides to take me someday. I have never been treated this poorly by anyone in my life since I was bullied in junior high fifty years ago, and at least those bullies never sent me a bill for what they did. I left my appointment that day feeling like Quasimodo, the titular character in Victor Hugo's classic novel, "The Hunchback of Notre Dame." Something is horribly wrong with Dr. Darling's interpersonal communication skills or rather lack of interpersonal communication skills. I know this is not a surprise to anyone because I have read through all of her reviews on the various medical review websites, and I have seen enough reviews similar to mine to know that her treatment of me was not an isolated incident. I also wish to point out that during my appointment, she was glib, flippant, rushed, and told me things about treatment that directly conflicted with what she had told me during my first appointment. When I would point this out and ask for clarification, she would become frustrated with me. At one point, she sighed and said, "You have so many issues!" Also, I wish to emphasize again, that when it came to the perceived flaws in my appearance, she seemingly felt compelled to mention the same issues over and over again until I felt like I was going to burst out crying. I am not hard-of-hearing, nor do I have a cognitive impairment of any kind. Yet she mentioned the incredible depth of my nasolabial folds and marionette lines SO MANY TIMES that four days later, I still have visions of Charlie McCarthy, Howdy Doody, and Chucky dancing through my head. Dr. Darling did make me realize something, though, for which I am now profoundly grateful, and that is that I shouldn't give hard-earned money away to an industry that profits from exploiting women's fears and insecurities about their appearance.
