The classes are consistently amazing and "Most" instructors are top-notch. My only gripe is when classes get packed beyond reason. For example, a few Saturdays ago I took a Power class that had well over 40 people. I'm not sure if it was the instructor's popularity, but I've never seen a Saturday class that crowded. Overall, the instructor was good, but not sure why the class would be that packed. It's hard to move or even fully stretch when you're practically mat-to-mat. A simple solution might be to offer two Power classes back-to-back on weekends to help ease the crowding. When you see that one class has that many students, over 40, it would make more sense to split it or add a back-to-back session. It's just not ideal to be so tightly packed when you need space to move and stretch. Early mornings are definitely the best if you want to avoid the overcrowding. Other than that, I absolutely love this studio and recommend it to anyone looking for a solid yoga practice.

I have…read morealways been reluctant to shell out $20-30 for a fitness class or $200/month for a membership. Instead I just dabbled with classes and mostly worked out at home. After a month of unlimited barre classes with their Noho location, I loved how sculpted and toned my body had become. I noticed that my butt had become visibly more sculpted and lifted and overall, I felt more flexible and stronger. After my first month at Noho, I couldn't repurchase their unlimited classes Pulsd so I bought the 10 for $89 voucher for this location. This location seems a lot smaller but the facilities are still extremely clean and stylish. Their class times are far more limited but I make it work. At this point, I've taken a class with several of the instructors and noticed that they each have different teaching routines that they rotate. I love that the different routines keep me challenged and excited to go back. My favorite instructors are definitely Linnea and Alison. Like all the others, they do hand ons on adjustments and will give individual tips during the class. Their routines are challenging but still do-able for me. By the end of class, your core and glutes will be rock hard from "gripping your seat" and back dancing. Classes incorporate a well balanced blend of arm work, pushups, thigh and seat work at the bar, and core work on the mat. I leave every session feeling better than I felt before. The post workout recovery session allows me to stretch out my tight muscles and relax. The only con to the Bar Method is their strict lateness policy. Due to the unpredictable train mishaps in NYC, I have been over ten minutes late multiple times and had to forfeit my class, IN ADDITION to being charged a late cancellation fee of $15. I feel that is a bit harsh since I already lost a class. Still, I would recommend the Bar Method to people at all levels of the fitness spectrum. It is easy to follow and all exercises are modifiable. Instructors are great at providing feedback so you do the moves effectively and classes are affordable when purchased through Pulsd.

Absolutely love this place! I've been attending classes here almost everyday since late August and…read moreit's been such a good experience. Everyone who works here is so kind and welcoming. Working out has always intimidated me and I was really nervous before my first class but every instructor I've interacted with has been incredibly patient and understanding. Every instructor makes an effort to ask the class if anyone has injuries, no one is bullied into doing more than they can handle, and modifications are always welcome! While the instructors are very understanding and don't try to pressure students to go over their limits, they're still extremely encouraging and do want you to try challenge yourself. I will say that Dr. Brown's Align 1:10 is one of Align's most challenging class. It's very fast-paced (the most fast-paced class I've taken at Align) and I think Dr. Brown's class can be intimidating for some who have never taken the class before but the intention is to keep your heart rate elevated so he means well! Since the fast-paced element of this class is very intentional, you'll have to switch through each exercise very quickly, which is challenging at first (I struggled through my first class). But if you keep attending his classes, it'll become second nature. The style of the class is like a bootcamp class so he will definitely push you to give it your all but if you absolutely can't do something, modifications are fine. I always modify at least 1-2 things in his class and it's never an issue, as long as you feel like it's still challenging and that your heart rate stays up. The Align 1:10 Xpress class is shorter and a bit slower, at least I think so. Both classes are great if you're up to it and trust me, you'll feel so accomplished when you get through it but it's definitely not a yoga class! The other thing that Align has really helped with is my flexibility and range of motion. I originally started coming to Align because I wanted to start weightlifting but I'm so inflexible and tight that I couldn't even squat with proper form. All the classes I've taken at Align have really helped with this issue so if you're experiencing something similar, this is the place for you! Honestly, every class I've take at Align has been so great. If you have injuries that limit your physical movement, if you just get intimidated by working out like myself or even if you're an experienced athlete, I would highly recommend coming to Align! They have a student trial period, which is great because you can take as many classes as you want for a week for only $20 I think.

From sweating buckets in vinyasa to revelations in my postures in align ground to chillin' and meditating in restorative (which I fondly refer to as adult nap time), I find myself feeling transformed as I pour a complimentary tea before heading out for the rest of my day. Also, I have to say I really appreciate that many of Align's top instructors are black women. These teachers are some of the best I've encountered in over a decade of practice in NYC and other countries. Bravo to Align for highlighting an underrepresented group's fierce and fantastic ability to teach yoga.

The space of the class brings your mind to a soft meditative focus. They have a variety of classes from classic (medium difficulty), define (greater focus on core and strength), and align (stretch/recovery). I've gone to the trifecta of locations (Greenwich, Flatiron, and Williamsburg), and I think this location is one of my favorites with proximity to Union Sq trains and the open space of the studio. Awesome instructors who are very supportive. Class goes quickly since it's mixed with regulars who have often gone to Pure Barre in the past, but usually if you're newer the instructor pays more attention to your form and helps. After a few classes, you learn the regular moves + positions and you're able to get a grasp much better on how your form should be. Flatiron Pure Barre is paired in a space with Cyclebar and has a massive selection of lockers + showers, Williamsburg has great lockers (both locking and shelves) but is smaller, and Union Square has nice locking lockers and changing areas. **NOTE: MAKE SURE TO BRING GRIPPY SOCKS (barre socks) or else you'll end up paying ~$20 for the socks they have in the studio (which are nice but let's be real no one should be paying $20 for grippy socks)
