The location of this Verayoga in particular is unmatched, especially since yogaspark left Tribeca we are now with very few options. I prefer this studio over the other heated downtown studios because their staff and teachers are extremely friendly and the space is always clean. I've flowed at all 3 Vera locations at least twice and they're all great, but this one is the most convenient to my full time job in Tribeca and it is worth mentioning that it's quite small. I appreciate the 5:45pm class time during the weekdays, it is epic for those of us who get off around 5pm and don't want to hustle hard down the block. So call me simply grateful for this space, thank you! read more

I've never been a fan of hot classes, but this one completely changed my mind. Since then, I've attended several classes and have enjoyed every experience. The locker room is packed with everything you need and with 4 shower stalls you won't be waiting long for your turn. Thankful for outdoor yoga during Covid, and extra thankful for this studio, their customer appreciation, and amazing instructors. I've done rooftop yoga with VERAYOGA a few times now, all during Covid, and it's exactly what you could need during the daily stressors we're all going through. The set up is well spaced out and feels really secluded from the city, even though Broadway and Canal are just a few floors below you. Mats are $3 to rent, but you can bring your own if you prefer. A single class is $28, and a 5 class pack is $125. Pricey, but entirely on par with every other workout studio out there. They cover the rooftop yoga area with tents if there's a chance of rain, so you can still come out rain or shine... a rarity during this whole period of outdoor workouts. Again, I can't get over the teachers. They're wonderful and really make you feel welcome. They are *most* of the reason I keep coming back here, but the secluded rooftop/class and schedule offerings also help. I tried out this yoga studio through classpass and really enjoyed my time here. The style of the class I did was a vinyasa flow, heated, and went through 3 sequences. If you are familiar with Y7 it is similar to that where the instructor speaks through most of the class, little guidance, no mirrors, it's dark and there is heat. I loved this studio because it felt homey and felt like there was a community. The instructor was great and everyone was friendly. read more

It was my first time visiting this studio from out of town. I chose it over YogaVida and Bodē Yoga (those were the ones I was between while choosing a yoga class) because: - they offered the time I wanted for the type of class I wanted (noon heated Flow). - the heat was preferable level for me, 92-98 degree heat. Yogavida's was 80-90 for heated flow I saw on the site. - Pricing was $28 for drop in, in the middle of Bodē and Yogavida's. Plus I needed to rent mat and towels. Yogavida offers sweet drop-in deals around $17-19 depending on which studio, so I'm excited to try their beautiful-looking studios next time . Bodē was $32 for drop-in. - I found out from a prior review that toward the end of class you get a cold wet towel with lavender, and it was AMAZING! I honestly forgot that's part of why I chose this studio, so I was surprised at the end. I took the 12:10pm Flow class with Juno. The class was great. Juno's mantras/sayings during class was exactly what I needed to hear, she basically spoke to my soul and was so graciously real during class. The flow sequences were great, didn't feel broken up or awkward in transition. My only cons about the class/studio was that the flow sequence will start well timed on one side, but then other side was more rushed. Also, I did not like some of the music during free flow part of each of the three sequences you learned. Also, not a fan of the small shower stalls. Beautiful studio, proper heat, great instructor to help keep your mind focused while flowing. Good flow sequence. Wish they offered cheaper drop-in deals. I recommend class with Juno. read more

One of my favorite yoga studios in NYC! The classes at this studio always leave me feeling amazing. The normal flow classes are a good mix of yoga poses but then also some extra workout (such as holding boat pose for extended periods of time to work out your abs) The showers are really nice (rain showers for the win). The only thing is that if you plan on showing there, bring your own towel or else they charge you for one! The lockerroom can get a little tight, but it's not the smallest one I've been in. I have taken classes with both Britt & Jen, they are both amazing! Great playlists too. Oh, also there's a dog that chills in the studio :) read more

I stumbled upon Sweat Yoga during my free trial of ClassPass and tried an Open Air Vinyasa flow class with Kirra. After attending several weeks in a row, I have become an addict! The facilities at Sweat Yoga are beautiful. The loft room has exposed brick, large windows, and hard wood flooring. There are blocks, belts, water spray bottles and other accessories available for use. The studios are wiped down after every class, so there's never a lingering musty smell that I have found at many other yoga studios. The bathrooms are clean, with lovely rainfall shower heads, hairdryers, lockers, and various toiletries available for use post-class. You can rent mats, non-stick towels, and shower towels for a small fee at the desk when you walk in. As for the class itself, I find it both challenging and accessible for all levels of yoga practitioners. Kirra teaches three Vinyasa-style flow series per class. With each series, she teaches the flow first, repeats it several times with the class, and then turns up the music and allows the class to go through it at their own speed. In addition to the three series, there are usually core work, inversion practice, and stretching portions as well. Kirra gives helpful hands-on instructions and corrections throughout the class and provides introspective meditative suggestions at the beginning and end of the practice. Each class ends with a shavasana, during which a member of the Sweat Yoga team provides you with an iced lavender-scented towel for your face/neck. It is such a refreshing and thoughtful way to end the practice - I have become completely spoiled by it! In summary, if you're looking for a lovely practice in TriBeCa, look no further!! read more

I've lived in NY for 5 years and have taken countless yoga classes all over the city. Sweat Yoga is by far my favorite. The classes offer the best mix of guided flow exercises and freestyle movements, all to great music (I now follow them on Spotify!). The instructors really allow you to personalize your time in the studio, which has helped me challenge myself and strengthen my practice. That's why I keep coming back each week. I love this yoga studio as it's the perfect mix between boutique and personal. The studio is spacious, clean and stacked with essentials you need so it's perfect for those looking to get a workout before work starts. Mats, yoga towels, shower towels are available for rental ($7 for package). Bottled drinks and water fountain are also available. I've been to Irina and Kirra's classes on the weekend and both are amazing instructors. The class takes place in a long rectangular room with students facing the shorter/window side. I like situating myself towards the front so I can see poses. However, no worries for those in the back as we rotate enough to face different sides of the room. The instructors also walk around to correct poses / demo in this back. Irinas class is fast paced and definitely more challenging so I don't recommend her class for beginners. We usually spend 40 minutes flowing, 15 mins exploring poses and actively stretching and the last couple minutes in savasana. Kirras class is slower paced and more suitable for those just starting. The best thing about the class is the cold lavender towel handed out at savasana. Amazing way to end the class indeed. read more

I LOVE Sweat Yoga SO MUCH! Every time I walk through the front door I breathe a sigh of relief knowing I'm in for an amazing experience every time. First off, they have the nicest front desk staff in town. You are always greeted with a smile! There's usually a dog or two hanging around for some snuggles before class.. :) The main heated room is HUGE, clean and beautiful. They also recently opened a 2nd studio that has open window classes in the summer and is heated in the winter. They're always adding new classes to the schedule and have times that work for all schedules. For anyone new going to Sweat you should know it might take a couple of classes to get used to the "find your flow" teaching style where you are guided through 3 flows and have the chance to do them at your own pace. After a couple of classes I literally can't imagine yoga any other way. I love the freedom you have to incorporate different poses that you're working on during sequences. You can make the sequence easier or more difficult depending how you're feeling that day. And if you want to chill in child's pose there's never any judgment. I recommend trying their 14 day unlimited special to really get a feel for the style and teachers. Oh and one last thing I'll leave you with - a cold lavender-scented towel is placed at the top of your mat at the end of each class. Heaven. read more

It was my first visit today and it didn't leave a good impression. As I entered the building, there's a giant logo on top of the elevator that says VERAYOGA so I thought I would be able to enter through there. There's no VERAYOGA logo on the elevator buttons and the elevator wasn't working. I didn't know what floor the studio is on and I had difficulty finding it. When I walked into the studio, I saw a shelf to my right and thought that's where I put my shoes so I did. Then I walked down the hall and saw that everyone put their shoes next to the benches. I had difficulty looking for the front desk. It was actually down the hall in a room to the right. It would be better to have put the front desk where they had the shelves as you walk in. The front desk was very efficient in signing me in. The STRENTH class I took was just a cardio workout that used some yoga poses. It isn't a yoga class at all. It was difficult to follow through the teacher's instructions. The teacher would demo it before we do it and by the time she finished demoing I would forget what the sequence is. I didn't know what I was doing for most of the class and didn't get any help from the teacher. The music was really loud and the teacher was using a microphone with a class size of around 10 people. The speakers had poor sound quality. The FLOW class is exactly what the description says it is. You are given a sequence and have to memorize it and then modify it to your taste. It's less cardio, but I felt confused most of the time because I couldn't memorize the sequence. The LED class is more like your typical yoga class, but there was a portion where you did your own thing. I'm not a fan of classes where you do your own thing. I come to class to learn something new and hope that the teacher see's something in me that I don't see. If I wanted to do my own thing, I can do it at home. Some of the teachers were friendly, others looked at me like it would be a pain to teach someone new to yoga, and one was extremely cautiously and made me feel like I was a sexual predator. At the end of every class, you get a small complimentary hand towel that is very cold. I never used it. After class, you throw it in an industrial garbage can which is their laundry bin. Also, it's very cold outside. To avoid catching a cold, it's best to maintain a stable body temperature and don't go from hot to cold really quickly. On my first visit, as I left class, and went into the changing room, there was someone (maybe the cleaning person?) that walked in with sneakers on and asked if I was almost finished. That wasn't a nice experience. Class just finished and I just begun to put water on my face. On my second visit, there was a weird obese male who waited for me to change and then watched me change. He even threw a bunch of cash on the bench centimeters away from my belongings and then walked to the shower. I don't know why he did that. The studio seems like it would look great with a minimalist look, but they added too much stuff and it looks really messy. The men's room has a urinal right next to the door where the door is halfway covered by a cloth. It's very uncomfortable to take a piss while hearing footsteps and people walking nearby. It's also awkward to change as someone else is taking a piss where you can see them in plain sight. There's also a bench across from the urinal which makes it more difficult to avoid noticing. The bench is also directly across from the mirror so people can watch you change while sitting down... Overall, I feel the studio can be better organized and more attention to detail is needed. As I was leaving, it was difficult to walk by people who were sitting on the bench and putting the shoes on. Also, on the first floor, there were a bunch of drug dealers blocking the exit, smoking pot, and selling drugs. read more

Thank you, Sweat family! I felt part of the tribe from the moment I walked in the door. This was my first heated flow class above 80 degrees...and I was really nervous. I've actually never done any exercise in that high heat and I'm in great shape (according to my own standards lol!!) but I didn't know what to expect. I loved the class format - being guided through 3 different flows and then having the music cranked up so we could move through the poses on our own. It was such a great feeling to let my body take over when my mind couldn't remember the exact poses in order. To me, that is what Yoga is all about! Julie gave me a little extra attention exactly when I needed it but I didn't feel singled out, it was perfect. Oh!! And let me tell you about the cool lavender towels at the end...huni, they deserve their own review!! Ah-mazing! The rental Maduka mat didn't smell btw, which is a plus when I need a rental mat because I couldn't pack my Liforme mat. I found the non-slip towel pretty slick for my preference, so I just used the mat without the towel over it and was fine. Anyway, those are the little nuances but over all, I had a great experience from the time I walked in the door to the end chatting in the locker room with the ladies :) I'll be back on my next visit to NYC! So tried on a whim with the misses. She's a hot yoga aficionado, I do my best not to fall down and embarrass myself. Don't get me wrong, it's not my first time on the bicycle, but at 6'4'' I do this to combat the tall man's disease i.e. become a hunched over old curmudgeon. The amenities at Sweat are great, clearly I only can attest to the men's room. 2 showers and lockers to lock up your stuff (they provide the locks). It's a bit thin, so you know, get ready to get comfortable. But really shampoo, body wash, conditioner and nice towels. Shower towel is $2 I believe and a rental mat is $3. The room is HUGE! No joke, possibly the largest studio space I've seen ever. And that mother gets hot, real hot, the jungles of Panama hot. I've practiced Bikram for years, and this was on par if not hotter to honest. Since it is all flow you get juicy there real quick, so drink LOTS of water. On the commuting side, Sweat is right around corner from Canal St. NQRW. Give it a shot, newer studio run by a bunch of Aussies - what've you got to loose? read more

This studio is fantastic all around, but I quit classpass (after 5 Years!) and got an unlimited membership here because of strength class with Alyssa. If you're looking for a welcoming studio with classes that'll kick your ass to HELL you should try this place. I also appreciate that in the dozens of classes I've taken here so far, no one has mentioned chakras or the weird spiritual stuff you sometimes get from yoga (I want a solid workout, not a sermon). Verayoga is incredible, I'm so happy I found it! Britt and the other teachers are friendly and knowledgeable, and provide slightly different styles. Yes, nearly all of the classes are some form of heated vinyasa, but Jen's and Britt's and (I've heard) Alyssa's tend to be more athletic, especially if you take a strength class with them. But I've also loved classes with Kirra, Kaetlyn, Justin, and Chelsea! The vibe here is just so positive! I've never been at a yoga studio that encourages so much acceptance and body positivity, but also challenges you to improve your practice. I've brought two friends here, and they both love it. Very clean locker room and shower facilities. They have shampoo/conditioner/body wash in the shower a la equinox, and there are blowdryers available as well. The locker room can be a little cramped between the evening classes (they generally have only a small downtime between classes), but everyone is friendly! I highly recommend. read more

This is probably my favorite yoga studio in New York. If I'm ever stressed, I can go to sweat yoga and immediately de stress. The atmosphere is extremely welcoming. The staff is so friendly and they always make sure you have everything you need. I love the classes because not only are they challenging, but they really help me to just focus on what I'm doing at the moment and forget about everything else. I had studied to be a yoga certified and have done yoga in Florida in a small studio. With that said when I moved to NYC I have been looking for a yoga studio. I have tried 3 so far. At Vera Yoga I only tried their strength class and cannot speak for other classes. Location: easy to access by subway. It is a bit hard to find the place as you need to walk up the stairs and there is no obvious logo. However if you see all sweating people coming downstairs you know you are in the right place. The studio has a long hallway before you get to the check in. This is a big disadvantage for this place in my opinion. The long hallway also makes it very hard to come in as 30 people are also trying to exit the studio. Once you figure where to get the staff is very friendly and accommodating. They did not explain much but when prompted with questions they did answer them all. There is a changing room with lockers, showers etc. Bring your own lock, however plenty of unlocked space as well. Yoga class: it is a heated class at 97, quite dark but very big. Very loud music, which I enjoyed. The instructor was amazing. I absolutely loved this class. I would not call it a yoga class. It was a work out class using yoga moves. The instructor kept me engaged, even though the class was hard, her way of teaching, explaining the move was really fabulous. Now that I know what to expect I would come back a bit more prepared (with water, towel) you can rent the mat, towel etc but it was expensive or I shall say average for NYC. I gave it a 4 because of the studio, very chaotic due to the lay out of the place. I will try their other location. Great instructor! read more

Second, it's so casual and welcoming. Britt and Wade (owners) have done an incredible job making everyone feel welcome from the start and creating such an oasis-style environment in the city that never sleeps. 3. TEACHERS - there is such a variety of styles and personalities to match your mood and level. I went in knowing 3 poses and over a year later I'm trying to master my crow. Used ClassPass to register for the Hot Yoga... It was awesome! The facility itself is so clean and designed well, along with the helpful and kind staff. Alyssa was the instructor for my class and she was very nice, had a great flow and tone in her voice that was calming and motivating. I never did hot yoga before (or any actual yoga class) and really enjoyed it. I'd definitely say to take a beginner class if you're interested in learning but this was a very positive experience! read more

Nice studio with exposed bricks. Very clean studio. They are located on the 3rd floor, you need to walk up. They have do-your-own sequence yoga with music, which I don't like it much. Shower is clean but kinda small. They give cold towel after yoga. Very refreshing. They have fancy rainfall shower with everything you need like shampoo, conditional, bodywash and blow dryer. I've been practicing hot yoga/Bikram yoga for going on 7 years. I go to a specific studio in Manhattan that has been around since 1999. I decided I wantedto try a new studio. This place is located on the 3rd floor right off of Canal St. My teacher was named Justin. He was okay not the friendliest. He didn't make me want to sign up for a membership. They had music playing in the class. It was around 95 degrees in the class. The place was dimly lit. The bathrooms were very nice though. The two stars go to the bathroom. And there was a dog roaming around which I enjoyed. I most likely won't be back. There are too many hit-it-out-of-the-park yoga studios in NYC. read more
