If you're spending any time at the beach in Zihuatanejo, you'll probably see the Picante catamaran, both docked and cruising across the water. Just look for the big boat decorated with a painted chili pepper. Zihuatanejo isn't a huge place, and I think Picante might be the only option if you want to enjoy a sailing excursion. We went on a sunset cruise with a big group on our first night in Zihuatanejo for Melissa K. and Kevin L.'s wedding. The bride booked it last minute, and we had the whole boat to ourselves. It was a lot of fun, even though I was one of the only sober (and pregnant) people on board. There was an open bar with free-flowing alcohol, and we had a rollicking sunset party on the water. The cruise was relaxing and beautiful, taking us from Zihuatanejo to Ixtapa and back. There was a pretty long stretch when we were joined by a huge pod of dolphins, more dolphins than I've ever seen in my life. They swam and played in the waves kicked up by the catamaran. There was dinner service on board, but it was frankly not great--ready-made plates of chicken, rice, and vegetables--and most of us required a second dinner once we got back to land. Otherwise, though, the sunset cruise was fantastic. I'd recommend Picante if you're looking for things to do in Zihuatanejo, especially if you like dolphins. read more

We decided that we wanted to go on the Sunset cruise and because we were in and out of our room, I had gone onto the Picante website, requested a price (because that is no where to be found), and indicated the date I wanted to go on the sunset cruise. The response was quick enough and I used the paypal link that was provided to book the tour and again indicated the date. @ 3.30 the day of the tour, I heard nothing, no email response, no phone call, nothing. I called the office. They hadn't heard of me, they didn't have my payment, I effectively was not on the list for the cruise. Emailed again, and instructed the person what to do... what did I get in response. A snarky response saying they were on lunch and didn't get back to me. And that they had booked me on the following day. The front office antics aside. We showed up for the cruise on the following day (good thing we were flexible with our schedule). All went very smoothly. You have to check into the office, and then make your way to the pier. Once on the pier we were a bit early, and took a seat. The Sunset cruise starts @ 5 and from the sounds of it they depart at 5. What we found out, as long as their large tour groups are there by that time. Boarded the boat, we were immediately offered drinks. The captain does a very minimal safety demo, and then you are on your way. If you are not fond of the sea and are a bit paranoid, note, they do not even do a life jacket demo. The captain talks in both Spanish and English, so there was no problem for us. Just past the midway point of the cruise there is food that is offered. It was a plate of guac and chips, chicken kabobs, and rice. Not the greatest food considering some of the options in Zihua. The Cruise goes thru Zihuatanejo bay and by La Roopa and Las Gatos beaches, then north to Ixtapa and around some of the small islands. Around sunset they slow down so that everyone can get some great sunset photos. Then it's back to Zihua. Overall, Avoid the website and call them directly. My mistake was assuming there was coordination between the people that work in the office and those managing the email/webiste (there isn't). Getting a snarky response back via email is just wrong. Lucky for you, you are the only game in town, so you have a monopoly on sunset cruises. The only redeeming part, is that the cruise is fantastic, even though it's pricey compared to all the other activities in Zihua. Would have rated you higher, but I don't appreciate being snarked at when I pay you money. read more

We took the sunset cruise last night. We had a fun evening. The staff was attentive and helpful. We were celebrating our 30th anniversary, so I told the Captain. He announced it to the crowd and as the sun was setting he played a romantic song and had us dance as the sun set. The drinks flowed constantly (we stayed with bottled beer). The beers were nice and cold. The food was chicken kabobs with rice and guacamole, which was tasted good. Even saw a whale (it was off in the distance but saw it breech one time). read more

Fun but short for a sunset cruise. Suggest a bit earlier start to allow for a sail back. The sails were for show and it would be nice to feel the peacefulness of the Pacific. Not really a party cruise and so I suggest you build on the knowledge your team has to give more about what we are seeing. Like how ixtapa developed Anne snore on the condos on the shore. Value added information. Staff is great but really a different crowd from the day cruise. read more

Had an amazing time on 2/1/17, beautiful ride, amazing fun filled crew, so much personality! Would recommend for sure and I'd return again.
