Much better than any frozen food you could experience anywhere else, especially in the US where it's often bland and extremely salty. But not here friends, not here. I'm a fan of Picard and always have been. It's been my go-to solution many times in the past where I was only one quick microwave, pan or oven away from having a warm and tasty meal for a modest price. The locations aren't all that big but they have all kinds of goods and it often rotates to follow some of the ingredient seasonality. Thai Soup? Check. Chicken Tikka Masala? Check. Bangers and Mash? Why not. Or maybe you want some chocolate eclairs with some frozen green beans? Guess what, they'll have that as well. Some of the dishes are also pretty advanced from a culinary standpoint. You have chestnut-stuffed chicken or even spiced lambchops with honey-glazed figs. All kinds of stuff! And all so good! They always strive to create and improve current dishes and does a great job at breaking the stereotype that frozen dishes are disgusting. Honestly most of them aren't just good, they're great. Maybe one day they'll make their way across the Atlantic into the US; that would be awesome!

My favorite Formule Express meals are the 1) Saumon with sauce citron basilic, purée de legumes verts et pommes de terre 2) Blanquette de volaille et riz. They contain a nice portion for me and low in calories. Will probably not be enough for a man though.

I'll stick to the farmer's market when I want to stay in for a home cooked meal from now on. No more Picard experiments.

In the midst of trying all the shop had to offer, the owner also poured us a glass of wine from his hometown in the south of France. We struggled to decide what to bring back, but we settled on the buffalo, duck and salami. If you're lucky enough to find yourself in the neighborhood you MUST stop by to learn more about the meats, cheeses and libations they offer here. The experience here beat any tour or five-star restaurant you'll find.

Only good things..... They are part of a shopping mall that stays open about an hour after the regular retail stores close. This way you can get what you really came for without having to carry it around while shopping. Once outside one can go from window to window looking at the Christmas displays. This is a great place to sample different items such as 10 different flavors of eclairs. How can you give this less than 5 stars? You really can't. I love this place.

It's a little hectic and hard to navigate for me to love unreservedly, but there's no doubt that it offers a plethora of good food. I can't think of anything quite like it in the U.S., but if you've been to the Harrods food halls or department stores in Asia, you might recognize the dense arrangement of mini restaurants and food purveyors, spread out across several floors. My first visit was for an hour-long hangout with friends, and we had a hell of a time finding a place to sit down while we got a coffee or snack. We went up and down the escalator scouting things out, but almost every spot with seating was overrun on a Saturday afternoon. We ended up at an okay pan-Asian spot called Rice Street between lunch and dinner service, getting boba and sheltering from the chaos. I went two days in a row on my more recent trip to Paris, first for a Glace BACHIR pop-up, and then to get an easy on-the-go lunch before getting sucked into the broader maw of the main Galeries Lafayette. It was crowded both days, the ground floor crawling with people. Both the ice cream and my sandwich, from Chez Meunier, were delicious. I haven't quite figured out Galeries Lafayette Gourmet, but it's a worthwhile destination if you want to run around trying pastries and chocolates and other French delectables.
