When my son started kindergarten, I decided I wanted to sign him up for art classes to give him a chance to express his creativity in a way that isn't encouraged in school anymore. After checking out a few different art schools, I ending up choosing Picasso's Playmates because the kids are not forced to all work on the same picture or medium. Each child is free to choose their inspiration based on skill level and then let their creativity fly! My son has grown so much in the past year thanks to Mrs. Paula, Ms. Noel and Ms. Chelsea. I love to see his art skills grow with each passing week and the happiness and confidence he displays with each new completed piece of artwork. I highly encourage anyone who is debating whether or not to enroll their children in art classes to check out Picasso's Playmates. You will not be disappointed!!

Most of them do workshops and classes here, in the great facilities. LAAFA is a great resource, and you meet many fellow working professionals in classes here too. If you want to pursue a career in the arts, where you learn the ways of the old masters, and by…read morethat I mean learning how to REALLY draw, how to REALLY paint, how to REALLY sculpt then LAFFA is the school for you. No school now days will teach you how to draw and paint like Rembrant, Bougerou, Ingres, In fact many art schools now days do not teach you the most important concept of drawing and that is that in art learning is life long it does not end with a degree. LAFFA emphasizes that. Furthermore many art schools focus simply on art being just paint splattered on a canvas or some weird as hell sculpture that sells for millions and where the "artist" i.e. like KOONs and Andy Warhol do not even do any work at all. LAFFA is very much like how people back in the ECOLE Beux arts were taught, or how those in the high renaissance were taught, in the atelier style, by the end of one class you will have learned how to truly draw which is the basis of all art! The accreditation, accreditation is a good thing, however it will not mean you will magically teach you how to draw and paint, much like some assume a degree means. no a true artist has YEARS of practice and does not stop because a true artist knows that to be able to truly know that they are good at something, they must remember they always know nothing like the renowned cellist Pablo Casalas once said when he was asked at 93 why he still practiced the cello 3hours a day" i think i am finally improving" that is what you will see here TRUE MASTERS of the lost art of drawing and painting, modern day Bougerou's, Rembrants, Franz Hals, Titian, Ingress etc. Who embody the true spirit of the lost arts which many so called art schools sans Cal Arts and 3 kicks do not teach today. One teacher i highly recommend taking is Rey Bustos, he is harsh, he is firm but his passion will drive you. He is truly an amazing instructor.

Ms. Antoinette is a wonderful teacher. She is kind, encouraging, and really brings out each child's artistic side. She helps the kids feel confident and proud of their work. One of the best parts is the friendly poodles. If the dogs are around, they're super sweet and the kids love them. It adds a warm and playful touch to the whole experience. We also like that they allow food and drinks inside. It makes the space feel relaxed and comfortable, like a second home where kids can create freely. Overall, ARTuity is a fun and inspiring place where kids can express themselves through art. We highly recommend it.

The owner/teacher is so incredibly kind and she really creates a calming environment, when you step in the studio with the light piano music in the background it just gives you and I'm sure the kids just a great peaceful atmosphere. I really appreciate this place here in the AV. There are classes all week long and they have a website to check it out.

No pressure, everyone is just there to paint and chat. Basically, when you can't pull off the brush stroke you are looking for, Karen the instructor will show you how you can do it. I haven't been in a couple of months because work has been very busy, but I still have the painting I promised my wife on the wall waiting to be finished up. They have great kids classes too. All three of my kids have been going there off and on for the last 10 years too. They will also host special weekend classes with local artists. The artist will show how they perform their techniques, and then you recreate your own version based on their instruction. This is a great way to have fun and walk out with a finish art work in one day.

Although I was very proud of the art I made and enjoyed the process, Renee and the women she employs would bully students into buying art supplies from their studio only. Although I value the importance of supporting local business owners, my family was not well off and my mother put us in these classes so we could do something productive while she was working extra hours to support us... When I came to the studio with supplies purchased from other retailers, I remember the instructor very intentionally broke my palette knife and said, "Well you just need to use one of ours!", which then my mother had to purchase when she picked us up from the studio... rather than the instructor offering to pay for breaking my palette knife... Renee would occasionally make appearances during lessons, but she very coldly scolded my sister and me and told us to go take lessons somewhere else if we were not going to purchase supplies at her studio. I was 9 years old at the time, and my sister 11! I was so embarrassed and hurt that I cried, and Renee showed no mercy. After that, my mother discontinued our lessons. I really did enjoy learning to paint, but it was not worth the bullying I experienced from a group of adult women.
