It's more of a photo op than an attraction in its own right. This is really just a large traffic junction with one famous sight, Eros, at its centre. It's one of the few parts of London to have huge flashing signs but it's no Times Square. Go and see it anyway but like the nearby Leicester Square it's a tourist trap that isn't worth hanging around for long. read more

Famously seen on the climatic scenes of 'American werewolf in London' Piccadilly Circus is probably a sight people normally think of when they think of London. The closest thing we have to Times Square with it neon lights is a focal point in the bustling West End. With the Eros fountain laying across the busy streets from the hypnotising neon's light that stand above the once burger king. The circus is connected by Shaftsbury Avenue and Leicester square and regents street and goes onto green park. No shops of any real interest really adorn the circus as it is just a meeting place for a group of London streets but does provide a great meeting point for meeting friends. read more

Bustling little area, allegedly the "Times Square of London" but hard to say because I haven't been to NY. I will say that I was more comfortable than i expect to be walking around NY -- signs warning the public about pickpockets made me think "well, if that's all they have to worry about..!" Mall nearby, some interesting shops and a couple of pubs, but lacking a certain something. However, I wasn't in London for the sights, it was the atmosphere. I could live there. read more

This probably makes me a total tourist, but I loved the hell out of Piccadilly Circus. First off, I love people watching. I love big flashy things on a gigantic screen on the side of buildings. I've seen this place before, hello Bridge Jones. I sat under the statue and soaked up the place as if I were a sponge. It felt good. Minus the cold temperature (hey, I'm from Miami, it was flipping cold). I especially loved the street performers. I got to view something random - four or five guys dancing for a few pounds. Didn't even last five minutes. There was an Elvis impersonator (in a gold outfit and ridiculous gold, glittery hair) who got told off by a local policeman. Little things like that. You have to sit by the Four Bronze Horses of Helios in the corner! Beautiful sculpture! Rub their hooves for good luck. read more

This is a nice theatre, quite large with lovely bars. At the moment the theatre is showing Grease. I would suggest not seeing the show from the grand circle if you like to be close because it is very high and you will be looking down on the stage. The dress circle is also set far back from the stage - i would suggest seeing this show from the stalls because i believe it has the best view. An iconic image of London known the world over. Who doesn't like bright lights & set amongst the grandiose buildings of Regent Street it makes it even better. Lots of big shops & entertainment nearby including Hamleys Toyshop & The Trocadero. The traffic in this area of london is mental, day or night and it seems the area is alive 24 hours a day. I wouldn't really consider it an attraction but it's a place to say you have been. my one main gripe is the statue of Eros - the area around it is a bit filthy & littered. Maybe it's always like it when I go but I think it could do with a little makeover what with it being in such a prominent position read more

Well I must say Piccadilly Circus is always busy with traffic tourists and shoppers. It has some really great restaurants bars and night clubs so you are really spoilt for choice. I love it more at night with all the lights and sounds. Also it's very central to oxford street regent's street. So really recommend this to you have a great safe time. read more

I know... I fell for it. I agreed to meet a friend (who is new to London) at Piccadilly... THE ULTIMATE TOURIST TRAP. And she was late.. so I took the opportunity to review it.. Aside from the numerous tourists, not such an attraction in themselves (unless your a pickpocket), there is a total higgeldypiggaldy of new and old with Sony's bright lights advertising billboards and the Eros statue melting into one. Perfect place to wander from as you can pretty much get to anywhere in a matter of minutes: Trafalgar Square, Charing Cross, Shaftesbury Avenue, Leicester Square, Buckingham Palace and The Mall... Aside from being good place to people watch (if you have patience as you will get bumped in to) and a central place to wander from, the things to see here are fairly limited in my opinion.. And it's true what the old saying says 'Stand at Piccadilly Circus long enough and you will see someone you know' - my friend turned up.. so here the review ends. read more

Seems like all the European sites we visited during our trip was under renovation and Piccadilly Circus was one of them. Most of the neon signs were out of commission and scaffoldings cluttered the area. I think they must be sprucing up for the 2012 Olympics in London. My mister was a bit let down. He thought the area would have been massive like NY's Time Square, but Piccadilly isn't that grand. I still like it and it is a good starting off point if you want to check out the souviner shops, eateries, nightlife, and theaters of London. read more

This is my favorite part of London. This is a vibrant neighborhood with so much to do, great sights and you just feel the culture. Love it, definitely a must visit when you're in London. It is a busy area kind of like our time square but with so much more sass and warmth. It is said that if you sit there for an hour you will run in to at least one person that you have met even if you are visiting. We didn't try that when we were there but seems interesting. read more

If you're not a shopper, the Circus doesn't have much to offer, but if you're a tourist you will probably find yourself walking through at some point, so may as well enjoy the architecture and people watching. The are some good spots for those classic London photos too. read more

Pretty lame landmark, especially if you've been to Times Square. The surrounding stores and restaurants are all tourist traps and there really isn't anything unique to see. This was my first memory of London. I've heard all about Picadilly Circus and the light signs before I've moved here and after I arrived from the airport, it was the first thing I visited.. along with my suitcase and all. The light sign itself has changed quite a bit over the years with various sponsorships taking up different spots on the light sign. Not to mention that the old neon signs are now being replaced with newer LCD screens. I do like the old neon signs more as it has more characters but I guess it's just moving on with the times. read more

Piccadilly Circus is tourist heaven. Being a local Londoner, I have been here numerous times and will remain visiting the area as it has lovely restaurants, independent coffee shops in the side streets. Piccadilly Circus is great to meet my friends who don't live in London as everyone knows it and can get to it. I do find it too busy to come here but still do cause of the restaurants in the area. Its a tourist heaven but at the like I've said before, it has really nice restaurants coffee shops in the side streets so I will be coming back to go there. read more

How can one review a square? Well, a circular square, no, wait... a circus... why does geometry have to get into this anyway? So Piccadilly... It's world famous due to the smog-darkened little golden boy holding a bow and arrow. Or is it the baptismal-font-like fountain beneath it? In reality, Piccadilly is famous for, you'll never guess, even though you know it already: its advertising! Story goes there was a law that forbade putting signs on top of buildings as it would deface the landscape. So some smart marketing guy thought that the law doesn't prevent him from putting them on the walls of the buildings, and off he went! The advertising was such a success, that the real estate cost of the buildings around Piccadilly is astronomical, and the billboards featured probably cost the relevant companies most of their annual budget. Seems to be worth it though, for all the pictures of all those adverts that are plastered across the net, with foolish tourists smiling in the foreground, passing along the new McMenu to their friends back home. As a square - no, circle - I quite like it. The metro station below is an octopus of exits, with staircases leading to a multitude of spots around the circumference of the area. Going down there is rather fun, as I never know on which side I'm going down at and how far around the periphery I shall have to walk (or in which direction) to get to the entry gates. Or, as a child who grew up in the 80s, I like the swirly Dr.Who reference... If you only had a day in London, I'm not sure I'd say that you have to see Piccadilly. The statue isn't breathtaking, the adverts are prosaic, the traffic crazy, and nobody really shops at Lillywhites anymore... But somehow, all of those elements combined, perhaps with the odd well-timed routemaster peeking out of the gentle curve of Regent streets Victorian row of buildings, makes this the epitome of London's picturesque life, and a sight that you cannot experience anywhere else. read more

Only had one night to spend in London on my euro trip and I spent a good 30 minutes here wandering around watching the street performers. Reminds me alot of Times Square, but with a twist of Double decker buses passing by and much smaller streets. The walking distance over to Buckingham wasn't that bad either. Great place to start a quick tour if you only had one night in London. read more

Piccadilly Circus is the place to be. Not only is it home to the famous eros fountain but it is also home to the outstanding light display that we all know and love. The circus has many shops, restaurants and entertainment. It includes shops such as Japan Centre, Lillywhites, Boots and Zavvi. Other highlights in the local area include Trocodero, which plays home to the great Funland arcade, which has 2 floors of electronic games to play. There is also a new attraction called Ripleys Believe it or Not, this showcases many weird and wonderful things and is a great attraction for the kids, however it is pretty overpriced. Overall Piccadilly Circu is a great place to visit, and it can lead to many other places, such as St James Park, Leicester Square and Regents Street. read more

As a first time visitor to London the Piccadilly Circus sounded interesting. I'm not sure where I'd heard the name before or what I was expecting, but Piccadilly Circus is nothing more than another street junction decorated with some large neon signs. We did some shopping in the area but there's nothing else to see. Not a destination by itself, but it you're in the area you can snap a photo. read more

At night, Piccadilly Circus really comes to life with the neon lights brightening up the night sky. It is a rather spectacular sight. That's said for a reason, Picadilly circus is one of the busiest places you could encounter. As a semi-paved junction in the centre of London, the traffic is obviously chock a block, and you don't really stand still while you're there. Looking over it all is a statue of Eros, his bow raised and ready to shoot his arrow, looking slightly odd against the walls of neon advertising. They are an amazing sight in their own right mind you. You can get a good view of it all from the second floor of the Virgin Megastore, worth a look from a different angle. read more

Go for the pictures and to say you've been and then get back on the tube or bus and go somewhere a bit more interesting. It is worth visiting this place at night as all the LED light are turned on and the large TV is very attractive where it is hard to draw your attention in day time. Besides the large commercials, there are several large shops there, like the Boots and the Gap. You can stay at the Angel water fountain while your girlfriend or wife go shopping. It is a very central point in London which you can get to the China Town in just 5 minutes walking. read more
