Our first meal upon arriving in Stockholm. Shared the flatbread with caviar and the Swedish Caesar Salad. Both were Delightful! Prices were reasonable.

Pickwick's seems to me to have all the appearance of being an Irish Bar or British Pub, but that just might be that I really can't think of anything, any particular color, décor, or appearance that would mentally define a Swedish bar. However, once you're inside, everything about it, particularly their menu is definitively Swedish. For lunch I ordered a beer, a plate of Swedish meatballs and their Janssons frestelse, known in English as Janssons temptation. The Swedish meatballs came in a handsome presentation, smothered with a cream sauce along with sides of potato and lingonberry. The meatballs themselves seemed a little larger in size that what I am use to but from the flavor and texture would guess that they were comprised of the traditional meat combinations of 1/3 pork, 1/3 veal and 1/3 beef. Overall a rather good very hearty dish. As for the Janssons frestelse, such is a traditional Swedish, comprised of potatoes, onions, pickled sprats, bread crumbs and cream. I know that some recipes state anchovies but that tends to be an error in interpretation stemming from the fact that pickled sprats are known as "anjovis" in Swedish. I might also add that Swedish anchovies tend to be very different than the typical anchovy found in the United States, in that they are much mellower, much less salty and not nearly as dark in color. Anyway, the frestelse turned out to be the real genuine thing, very much similar in taste to the frestelse my great grandmother made for me. Pickwick's offers a very nice casual café/bar type of atmosphere that is almost classic in style. The eating areas inside are nice with the outside patio areas well covered. The service was also on spot and I walked pleased with my meal and the time I spent there.

While this place is located on a Main Street near tourist shops and other busy places, the food here was pretty good and not exorbitantly priced like much of Stockholm. It claims to be an Irish bar but while there are Irish beers on tap, there are many local ones as well for around 79kr. The food on the menu definitely has many Swedish options. I had the Swedish has which was pretty good. It was potatoes and sausage with a fried egg on top. I sampled the Swedish meatballs with lingonberry which were also very tasty. Overall, the meal was pretty good and worth a stop by.

Great British/Irish style pub with outdoor seating. Great selection of beers, liquor, snacks, and more hearty fare. Sweet servers who are used to non-Scandinavian speakers. I tried the delicious fisksoppa which had a lovely flavor with saffron, curry, cream and was full of huge pieces of firm fish and vegies. Loved the place.

Nice atmosphere. Swedish meatballs weren't the best but reasonably priced. Good service.

This place is trying to fill the gap in the market left by the fact that government owned monopoly selling alcohol is not allowed to sell beverages that has low alcohol content (they can sell alcoholic beverages aa well as non-alcoholic beverages). The beer revolution has also brought along numerous small breweries who also make good and interesting low alcohol beer. The range in this small store is pretty good, when I was there I would estimate around 20 different producers and around 40-50 different products being offered. The prices range from around 20 SEK to around 35 SEK and one can also have the beers there. I like the concept but would want a larger range and also a clearer shelf system as everything was now just mixed and when asking about a Polish beer (only had Polish text on it so could not even figure out if it was a lager, stout or ale or whatever) the staff had no clue either. In this type of nerdy store I would want them to be able to let me know both basics and some nice stories about all the producers. Still a nice and very hipster addition to the area and like that it is possible to enjoy the beer on site as well.

Louis R loves local Swedish pubs close to his 5-star hotel…read more This spot is located on the corner of the main street and the tables outside, filled with local Swedes chatting and drinking, make it easy to find. Don't get intimidated if everyone is speaking Swedish, within, as this is a true local joint. And yes, the menu ain't in 'Murrican. Sorry bruh. The salmon with potatoes was clutch, actually, all the fish dishes here will be on-point. The barkeep was affable and can help you select legit choices in fare as well as drinks. Go with the local beers. Do it. Since this spot is not in Old Town, there won't be many tourists, which suits Louis R. It is very easy to chat with the locals, as they aren't the typical pretentious American D-bags. Be like Louis R, be the only pretentious D-bag in Sweden.

I had dinner in the second room. I would advise you to book a table (I got lucky, someone had booked but cancelled last minute so my friends and I could sit). I had a burger, the meet was very tender and juicy. The fries look like crazy Macdonalds fries but they were actually much better than that, and came with a homemade aioli sauce. I was also super tempted to take tartare steak, the table next to us had some and it looked really good. As it was my first time I wasn't sure of the quality of the meet, but now I know it's good, so next time I'll definitely have that!
