The staff is extremely nice and welcoming, and not to mention they speak both Spanish and English. The food is doubly delicious. Specializing in Cuban style cuisine, they have it all. The fried plantains are great as well as the fried octopus. The Cuban dishes are the perfect portion, not too much but not too little. However, the food is relatively pricy, so know before you go (around €20 for a drink and entree). Speaking of drinks, I had a large mojito and they know how to do it up right. Honestly, this place is great and a sight to behold. From the ambiance to the food to the vista, what's not to like. Enjoy!

We followed the sunset to the end of the beach walk to find Azúcar de Cuba Beach Bar. With great popular music covers from 1970s to today playing in the background and setting the mood this beach bar has a great combo of indoor dining, as well as out door beach side dining and small cabanas. On weekends they have live bands providing entertainment. It definitely was not easy at first to place an order. We weren't seated at a table but the server suggest we sit at a side bar looking outward to the beach and although it was a high traffic area no server in particular seemed to be responsible for customers sitting in that area. The menu has a fun mix of Caribbean, Latin American, and Spanish inspired dishes. I had pico de gallo with tortilla chips which tasted fresh and flavorful. I asked for Sangria, the offered Rojo or Blanco. I chose red but recieved white Sangria which had a fruit and cinnamon sticks added. It was good, just not what I ordered. My friend wanted the 75 Euro Steak meal but they told him no they were out. Someone at a table nearby sat down after us but got the steak. When he flagged down the server again he asked a second time but they told him no again and went to find a server who spoke some English. That server told him they only had one steak left and it was 75 Euro per kilogram and the only steak in the kitchen was over 1 kg so it would cost too much. It seemed awfully presumptuous to make an assessment that my friend in shorts and flip flops could not afford such a steak. He was more that willing to pay for it but got frustrated with being told no. The food, drink, and atmosphere is 5 stars for sure but the service needs some improvement. I would definitely try again, maybe when they aren't so busy.

Venue: Come for the food, stay for the ocean view and sunset. This place is in a great spot next to the beach and easy to find. You will need to park your car somewhere in town, we parked a few blocks away near the Embarcadero parking lot. The restaurant is also very clean and if you arrive right at 8pm, you don't really need a reservation. Staff: Great service, especially for our for customers that don't know how to speak Spanish. They are fluent in English and very helpful in ordering local favorites and fresh fish. Food: We loved every item we ordered and it was nice to be able to share the dishes so we can all experience each other's plates. The grilled octopus was tasty and not too smoky or salty. The croquettes weee surprisingly tasty and not fishy at all. Definitely come here if you want to have dinner with a group or want to relax and enjoy a fun meal. We came here during the week and did not need reservations, but it can get busy on weekends, so make reservations if you can.

Taco Tuesday ... HOOAH!…read more We saw the sign for Taco Tuesday with tacos ranging from €1 to €2 and the menu had some things my wife would like, so we asked for a table outside. The gentleman told us that he would be right with us, but we waited 15 minutes to be seated, too long. We were hungry and it was late, so we stuck around. I asked for a Margarita (€7), not knowing the price, even though I had asked for a Drinks menu, not available, something I hardly ever do because that is a sure sign that the drinks are expensive. It came in a small glass, maybe 8 ounces, and was filled with ice, having taken maybe three small sips to finish it off, 3-4 ounces of liquid max and extremely weak ... FUBAR! My wife's first choice, the Philly Cheesesteak (€11) was not available, so she decided on the Pulled Pork Sandwich (€9). I wanted the Al Pastor tacos (€1.50), but they were also out, crap, so I ordered two Carnitas (€1.50 each) and two Steak tacos (€2 each). My better half did not like the taste of the pulled pork, but it tasted fine to me. Her french fries were abundant, but were too salty, even for those of us who like salt on our fries. My tacos were on small 'street taco' tortillas with a reasonable amount of meat, but only some onions and radishes, no cilantro. They were actually pretty good, but not filling, so I polished off what was left of my wife's pulled pork sandwich and a few fries. For €1 to €2 a pop, I was not complaining. The service was good once we got seated and the food was decent, but the lack of available options and the price of my itty-bitty margarita would ensure that we do not return any time soon. From the…read moremoment we walked in, the atmosphere felt warm and inviting, and everyone at our table left with delicious meals and an all-around happy mood. I started with a glass of Moscato that was perfectly chilled and just the right amount of sweet--light, refreshing, and not overpowering. For my appetizer, I had the bruschetta, which was fresh and flavorful, topped with juicy tomatoes, fragrant basil, and a drizzle of balsamic, toasted bread. For my main dish, I ordered the four-cheese gnocchi, and it did not disappoint. The gnocchi were soft and pillowy, coated in a rich, creamy blend of cheeses that was indulgent without being too heavy. Every bite was comforting and full of flavor. Highly recommend stopping here if you're craving authentic, satisfying Italian food in a welcoming setting. It's also a great place for great conversation--the cozy ambiance and unhurried pace make it easy to sit back, relax, and enjoy the moment.

The restaurant is 100 meters away on the plaza which is also where we checked-in. Ristorante Italiano Tuscana has an extensive menu of antipasti, pastas, meat dishes, desserts, and a full bar. They have an indoor, air-conditioned dining room and tables outdoors on the plaza. The food was very good, the portions appropriate, and the prices fair. We ate there twice and enjoyed our meals along with their resident dog, Rocco, who was very sweet, lingering near outdoor diners, but not begging or being a nuisance at all. The first night we had l'insalata caprese €8 and tortelli 4 formaggi ai burro e salvia €15 for my wife and the lasagna bolognese €10 for me along with a bottle of water with gas and a liter of sangria €12. My lasagna was delicious and HUGE, but my wife's tortelli had not been properly drained, watering down the rich butter and sage sauce, but my wife still enjoyed it. On the subsequent evening, we forewent the starter, my wife ordering the tagliatelli con funghi €10, me the spaghetti carbonara, and sharing the cotoletta alla milanese €12, a bottle of water and two glasses of house red wine. All were very tasty, especially the carbonara which was prepared in the traditional way by adding egg yokes just before serving with plenty o' pepper ... HOOAH! Our dinners, a starter, main and wine/water ran around €50, not bad for good meal for two, so Ristorante Toscania was a definite Travelvalue and worth a return visit the next time we go to Naval Air Station Rota.
