Disrespectful and unprofessional experience on 12/13/25 I had an extremely disappointing experience at Picture People (Fair Oaks). Our original photographer, Kayla, was rude and unprofessional. While we were changing outfits, she had an active FaceTime/video call going in the studio. I asked her to turn it off because it was completely inappropriate. Instead of addressing the concern respectfully, she responded in a dismissive way, claimed it "wasn't faced toward me," and then stormed out of the studio. I met the manager, Yvonne about it and she made the situation even worse. She was condescending, did not try to resolve the issue, and offered no apology. I also observed a clear difference in how she interacted with customers she was pleasant and accommodating with white customers, but spoke to us in a way that felt racially biased and disrespectful. The only bright spot was when we were reassigned to Shelby, who was professional, kind, and helped salvage what she could of the session. I'm leaving this review because it sounds like others have raised concerns before and nothing has changed. Management needs to take this seriously and provide real customer-service training and accountability, especially around professionalism and respectful treatment of all customers. This is our maternity shoot and we looked forward to this moment but the entire experience was so bad I even cried afterwards. I wish I can leave no stars on this painful review. read more

I ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO CHANGE my review. The manager at this location was completely rude today. We have been coming to this location for about a year. We have been going to Picture People for many years a few times per year. Today, the manager yelled saying "you are 3 minutes over. Out!" I HAVE NEVER experienced this type of customer service from Picture People. It is so disappointing. They were even training a new girl who had a very pleasant demeanor. Then, I explained my discomfort with the level of customer service from my visit to Shelby and the manager overheard(I believe her name is Yvonne after looking at my last review). As she was overhearing, she rudely cut into our conversation and said "you guys were 4 minutes late. We have other customers. I wasn't speaking to you. I was speaking to Shelby." She then continues to say "Shelby will get in trouble for allowing you to go over the time." Then, Shelby just laughed. That was so rude. I have never experienced a manager act this way. I told her instead of yelling "Out!" she could've simply said "this session is running a bit over. We will need to end soon." She made my mother, my children, and I very uncomfortable. read more

While the wait is a little long, this is not the fault of the studio or its staff, but the costumers who can't control themselves and/or their kids. Overall, this place takes great photos and has a great staff. The manager there is highly ranked and it is one of the best locations in the DMV. I went in to get a head shot for my son, which was notated in the additional information box when I went to schedule the appointment. Even thought my appointment didn't start until 30 min after it was scheduled I was upset and understood things happen. When we went back to get the photos done I explained to Lauren what I was looking for and she said ok. I came back after picking up a snack while she loaded the pictures. When I showed her the one I wanted she stated she can't print it out because they don't go Groupons on the weekend, which is fine because I didn't have a Groupon and she kept saying that I needed a code from where I ordered it online, I explained to her that I didn't order a package online, I just booked the appointment and gave her the confirmation number. I asked if she could call her manager because and I can explain since she wasn't understanding what I was saying. She came back out after she spoke to her manager and said as a courtesy you can come back during the week and I'll book an appointment for you. I showed her my phone and the email several times explaining to her that it was for an appointment and I showed her on the website about the 20 booking fee and she continued to tell me they don't take coupons on the weekend. I don't know how many times I had to explain it was a booking fee not a coupon and she then continued to explain to me it's in the fine print of the coupon code email about non coupons on the weekend. I told her what photo I wanted to purchase and she said "I have people waiting as a courtesy we rebooked you for Wednesday to look at your photos" she not one time sat down and went over the photos with me which is supposed to be included in the appointment time. I'm not sure why that wasn't offered especially since I arrived 10 min prior to my appointment. I also asked her who I could speak with to get this cleared up since there seems to be a break down in communication and she said "I'm busy and I have other people to handle you can go on Facebook or call corporate", I asked why I can't get the photos and I wasn't provided my appointment obligation and she said "I'm alone tonight, it's a Saturday, I'm overwhelmed, and we have you booked for Wednesday to finish." Yvonne has always been great and been taking my kids photos for years and always provided great service as well as all the other times I've been a customer of picture people for over 12 years. I'm disappointed in tonight's session and the lack of knowledge that should be knowledgeable by all employees that there was a 20 booking fee and I didn't have a Groupon, I had a booking confirmation code. I'm not sure who to speak with since I was told the only way I'll get my complaint heard was to go on Facebook and contact corporate. She said I'll need to speak to upper management that's in charge of her manager Yvonne in order to get the answer about not excepting Groupons on the weekend. I explained again that I don't have a Groupon. She then stated that she's busy and she can't finish my appointment or answering my questions since she doesn't have the knowledge or answers and that I needed to leave and can come back Wednesday. Lastly, We were walking out and my sons photos were still in the screen facing the mall, I asked her if she could take them down so not anyone who is walking by can see his photos, she said they aren't and I said yes ma'am they are on this computer which isn't locked and facing the mall with all these people walking by. She stomped over telling me she has other people to assist and proceeded to lock the computer, I thanked her once she did that. I'd also look into the privacy and openly allowing photos especially of children to be openly seen on a computer with no one sitting at the front desk or where the customers are. Not sure about the concern for computer security, but may be something worthwhile looking into. I've also sent this information to corporate and hoping to get a response to get this resolved since a booking fee can apparently only be done by a "higher up regional manager". read more

Great Staff, wonderful same day printed photos. The photos taken are the best. This is definitely the best picture people location in the DMV. I will come again! read more

Soooo our appointment was at 5:15 we didn't get seen until 5:50. It seems like its the normal occurrence for their locations we've been to 2 ( Woodbridge)of them, atleast the other location we got some good shots. If it wasn't so hard trying to get kids together for pictures I would have left with nothing. Now I know why they had so many spots open last minute. Don't stand behind a camera snap a shot and day got it WHEN YOU DIDNT! They missed some cute shots. Going through pictures and the wait we didn't get out of there until 7. read more

Can I give a 0? I had pictures taken in 2017 they were amazing....tonight I just left the store so upset. The girl had no experience taking picture did't show me how to pose...to look my best....I can't tell you how much time I wasted going to picture people. read more

Bait and Switch. I went in for a digital pic for use in a Christmas present & maybe a different shot(s) for Christmas cards. No package options with pricing online, but i found a Groupon for a digital + 6 sheets for $30. We didn't meet criteria for Groupon (it was a weekend when we could get dressed up and all schedules work) but I assumed I could get same package & little pay more for it. Wrong! No such packages exist. Nothing smaller than 20 digital & $220 on weekends. How can you not have a package available based on day of week? It was also the second employee I asked who even offered the all digital option. The first employee told me the smallest was the $250 package. Also they take too long to crop after your shots with lots of kids struggling to hold it together in their nice clothes. If I had picked printed pics, i would've had to pic them up another day because they took so long & store was closing. 6pm appointment, 8pm close. I'd had a great experience 5+ years ago. It's not the same experience now. I feel duped & angry. Buyer beware. read more

Visited during December for a few Christmas pics. Used Picture people in the past and it was always a pleasant experience. Apparently the chain was bought out and things are very different. The session was booked for 20 minutes. However, when I had to leave afterwards I was informed the real time to get underway should be 1.5 hours! Told its in the FAQ. Thats how long to take 15 minutes of pics then get them onto the computer to look at. The packages they had were pretty much off the charts in the price department. Ie 8 framed pics and a few 8x10's for 300-500 dollars with the discount. I opted for the pics on a thumbdrive for 200.00 with the discount. The employees photo skills are questionable as well. My son had his tie sticking out of the bottom of his jacket and his coat buttoned wrong and they happily took all the pics like this, totally clueless. My advice, go absolutely anywhere else. My Husband went in to get last minute headshots for work. Photos looked horrible and very poor angle and lighting. DON'T GO HERE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!!!! I ended up taking way better photos of him on my iPhone. Wasted more than $120 on photos we will NEVER use. read more

I have never had such horrible pictures. I am a dark skin African American Woman. The lighting that the photographer used for my pictures was not good. She should be trained to change the lightening for different skin colors. My chin looks darker than the rest of my face. There were very deep shadows on my chin. She claimed it was the computer. I do not think that she was paying attention to the lightening when she took the pictures. I was very disappointed. read more

I went to take a passport photo for the visa application. After I left, I noticed that my neck looked like a photoshop in the photo, and a day later I went to solve this problem, and the employee started explaining how they would refund the money and said that they would not do anything about it. However, I never asked for a refund, I was just saying why my neck was like this and the photo was cut incorrectly. And I just request to gave me another photo and she said I need to pay to get new one. They said that my neck was sticking out because of the shadow and that it wasn't their fault! How the shadow that appeared in the photo could be my fault ? A s a result, it was an experience that ended with a badly taken photo and a guilty conversation. I definitely do not recommend it, because of their attitude towards the customer and people who do not know how to take photos. They give a camera to a person who doesn't know how to take a photo. read more
