Here today. Have to day today's session changed my opinion of picture people. I used to come for just basic shots but today's photographer was awesome. She was paint with my kids and helped guide them nicely. They had a few backdrops that I just loved. I especially love the rustic wood backdrop and wooden floors. THEY HAD great props too - benches and flowers were used by my girls. We also this time decided not to do an outfit change. That was the best choice I made. MADE it super easy to keep the kids going and the photographer didn't get frustrated with the downtime. All in all a great time!! I would definitely come back! read more

Got my child's pictures taken here a few days ago. The quality of the printer that they use must be terrible, I asked them to re print the pictures since they charge "professional" prices. Needless to say they saw "nothing wrong" with the quality they did re print them for me but there are still lines running through my child's face and the prop that they used looks like a giant smear on the 8x10 image. I am very unhappy. read more

This place is absolutely horrible!!! Complete waste of time and money. Both girls that we worked with had zero people skills as well as awful interactions with my kids. My son usually loves to smile and he was so afraid of both of them. When it came time to order, she was so rude and just sat there like we wasted her time! And to top it all off they messed up the prints and I had to go back!! Wouldn't recommend this place ever. read more

I brought my son for a photo shoot this morning. I'm smart enough to not do it on a weekend during the busy hour like some other people on this review. Fantastic! Went in today to have my son's high school graduation pictures taken and Landers did an amazing job! Certainly not the place to go for quick and easy portraits. Management of this store has little pride in the appearance of the store or respect for the time of their customers. Store was dirty and not well maintained. We had an 11:20 appointment and arrived at 11:00 AM and told it would be "15 minutes" until we were seated. We were not seated until 12:30 PM. Photos were not ready for pick up until nearly 3 PM. Our photographer was professional and friendly but lacked creativity. Photos were mediocre at best. read more

Staff is pretty unprofessional, like a bunch used car sales people. We had a groupon (1 shot multiple sizes) and the guy showing us the photos acted like a brat when we only took the one photo. The rest of the shots were not good, felt very rushed by the photographer, like she had better things to do and overall a typical "mall" experience. I'll get another groupon, but will not go back to this location. read more

I was at the PP in Rockaway Mall on Thursday, March 29. I brought my 7 month old son to have some Easter pictures done. I had received a coupon via email for a $16 package and had shown it to the photographer upon my arrival. She went over what the package entailed, and we started the session. We went into a room, and I couldn't believe how absolutely filthy it was. The white floors clearly had not been cleaned in some while, and the props were just filthy. I just went with it, because I really wanted the pictures done, and I would have washed my son immediately after getting home. We were there for about 20 minutes, and she managed to get some cute poses (this is due to him being so cute, as he was terrified of them, and wouldn't smile). We chose the pictures, and I even added on a 10x13 photo. When it was time to pay, I was told the coupon code did not work. So, I had to use a different one, which was more expensive....fine. After I paid, I checked the receipt. At one point, I had wanted to get an additional picture in 4x6 form, but then asked (which still viewing pictures at the computer) to have it removed. However, on the receipt, it was still there. I went back into store immediately (I was only a few steps from the entrance to the store at this point) and asked for a refund on that. Clearly, they were not happy with me and grunted as the two "photographers" had to go through endless papers and binders to figure out how to refund me the money. After about 25 minutes, they said it would show up in my bank account within 24 hours. It is now Monday morning, and it has not shown up. Furthermore, when I got home, I was very annoyed to see that the dirty floor that I mentioned earlier, showed up in every single picture I had purchased! I was going to give these pictures out as part of Easter gifts, and was disgusted to have my child photographed on this filthy floor. I actually thought it would have been blurred out. I do not see how this business is suitable for small children. . People, do yourselves and just go with a real photographer from the start. We used one for newborn and Christmas photos and it truly is a matter of receiving what is paid for. We will continue to use the reputable photographer as opposed to this nonsense. We went to picture people. My appointment was for 11:40 and I had to move it so I called to do so. The lady who answered the phone said "don't worry, we have availabilities all day, just come whenever." I asked if I could book an appointment for 12:40 and she assured me there was no need. WRONG. We showed up at 12:45. We waited until past 2 pm to be seen! By then you can imagine my 9 month old baby was not so happy or calm. When I checked he, the guy at the desk told me "oh, we may have called you, but i'm not sure" (note - I was sitting right outside the studio because it was PACKED and they were moving extremely slowly). The shoot was not impressive - the photographer was uncreative and when I asked/suggested about doing one pose or another, she did not respond positively. Almost all the photos were just straight formal shots or shots of my son looking away because she wouldn't move to where he was looking. The pictures are not impressive. Every time we go back (this is our third time, because we bought a membership so I may as well use it) they tell us something different - now we cant use any coupons, before it was something else, etc.. I spent over 2 hours at picture people to receive horrible service, unimpressive pictures and a very bad feeling - especially since when I walked to the back I heard them speaking about me!!!!! When we left, the place was empty. And no one was even at the desk to welcome the next people. read more

I went today as a walk in, which I have done before and had no problems, but today was different. The staff couldn't keep the volume of people under control and were very unprofessional. I walked in with my family at 1:30, was told it was about a 3 hour wait (which I had expected) so we put our name on the list. I went back 3 hours later and was told we had 2 people ahead of us and it would probably be another 15-20 mins. Ok, thats fine, it's busy today. Waited a half hour, one of the people called out our name and then fumbled and called out someone elses. We went up and asked HER directly and she lied straight to our face. Now it's almost 5 and we are told that they are backed up on appt and we would have to wait another 30 mins. At this point being at the mall with 2 small children, we have had it but still because we've had such great experiences in the past, we stayed. THEN, we watched as the same lady that lied to our face picks through the name cards and skips our name not once, nor twice but 3 times. I am fed up now, walk up to the desk and ask why we are being skipped. I'm told since we were a walk in we have to wait until they have the appts under control. I wish they would've told us when we walked in at 1:30 and put our names on the list that it was not an appt. So I ask does that mean we are going to be ignored until you have you appts under control and was told yes. I will never go here again. They should specify that walk ins should make appt instead of being put on a list. Waiting until 5:30 at night and wasting the day and still not getting pictures is absurd. read more

Very disappointed! Staff lacks professionalism - they dress messy and look messy- hence their work is messy! Our photographer was super friendly but her pictures were below average! For the price paid I would've done a private session with a professional photographer. Wouldn't recommend this place at all! read more

For quick and easy photos this is the place to go. My boyfriend and I made a trip out to his home state of New Jersey to visit family and friends. We also were there to take family photos. So all 10 of us met for photos on a Saturday and boy was it busy! We had a 3:30 appt time and we didn't get in till about 4-4:15pm. When it was our turn we all piled into the room with the pull down backdrop. Not to many backdrops to choose from but luckily they had one that was nice, neutral and not cheesy. It was sorta a tan and beige Grecian style background. It looked nice against our white shirts and jeans and my boyfriends 2 nieces dresses added a little splash of pink. First we took photos of the whole family then individuals. We had a lot to take. Family, parents, the 3 brothers and finally couples photos. My favorites were the photos of my boyfriend and his brothers, they are so funny when they get together! The photographer was great, professional and moved things in a timely manner. Everyone was happy with the proofs we got to see about 30 min later. And I loved the pics of my boyfriend and I. It's going to make a great Christmas card and some gifts too! read more

This company was responsible for the school pictures of my daughter's pre-school class. The quality of the pictures was completely unacceptable. An amateur photographer myself, I could have taken better photographs under the same conditions. The photographs were not focused properly and poorly composed. Even though these were proofs, you could clearly see that the critical focal point of the image was not on my daughter's face/eyes, rather, on her pants, sweater, or shoe. As a result, we were not able to purchase class pictures of my daughter and her friends this year. read more

The desk staff is rude and not helpful at all. We waited an hour and a half past appt. time with 3 kids. By then, everyone, including myself, were tired and grouchy. I asked for props for my 6 month old pictures and she brings a watering can. It is December & dead of winter.... REALLY?? Then, we did all 3 for holiday pictures. The photographer had little, if any experience, and the pictures came out awful!! After 2 and a half hours, I walked away with nothing, no pictures of my baby or holiday pictures! They ask if I wanted to schedule another session?, I think NOT!!! I would not recommend the picture people and will NEVER go there again!! read more

I had bought a Groupon for The Picture People, so I was glad we were able to get there before it expired. I was disappointed though in our photos. The photographer was very friendly and kept saying positive things after she snapped a photo and then looked at her screen. "Oh this looks great! What a beautiful family! Perfect! etc, etc. Unfortunately when we came back 20 minutes after the photo shoot to view our pictures there were only a very few that were acceptable. If someone's eyes are closed in the picture you should not say it looks great. You should retake the photo. I'm no professional, but even I know that. We will not be back. read more

If I could give this place negative stars, I would.Like others have mentioned,the employees look like a bunch of dirtbags,and act the same way.The photographer Alicia,from the get go had an attitude.She rushed through everything,got impatient with us,and wore this obnoxious scowl on her face the entire time.Like she was doing us the favor by us coming in there.But it's my fault,because I should have known we where going too get this low brow service,with a chain photography studio,in a third rate mall.Also,that cheap used car saleman thing is true.They have some college aged kid with a WalMart tie and shoes,call your name out,like you're some illegal immigrant collecting food stamps.Lastly,the quality of photography sucked..big time.I could of used my fathers Polaroid camera,from 1974,and done a better job.What do they say..you get what you pay for.Overall,you're better off having a third grader do the photography,because you know their IQ will be higher,and quality would be better. read more
