Watched the Allstar Game with dinner spread from the grocery store right across the street.

Decent hotel with indoor pool in beautiful Munising, MI. Stayed on a motorcycle tour of the Great Lakes. Priced well and great full service gricery store across the street. Very friendly staff. Rooms were clean and nicely appointed. Hope to return on the snowmobile if the snow returns!

This is a TERRIFIC little hotel!!! We stayed here Sep/30/2022 through 3/Oct/2022. The hotel has that Up-North-Michigan-log-hunting-cabin feel. I've attached some of my pics. My wife, Kimberly Y., also left a review--we live in Lansing but she hasn't updated her profile so it indicates Longbranch, WA. The staff is REALLY nice---shout-out to Heidi at the front desk who was SOOOO sweet and helpful!! The hotel is modern, clean, well-kept, and the rooms were the same way. The rooms have a fridge, microwave, hair dryer, and coffee maker. There are also coffee dispensers in the lobby, which are nice to supplement what's in the rooms. There are some clothing souvenir items for sale in the lobby too. There's free WiFi, a nice heated pool, a steam-room sauna, and a hot tub. The hot tub ONLY accommodates 6 people, so it's a crap-shoot if it's available unless you don't mind dealing with strangers in a close-quarter setting. The small hot tub is my ONLY negative aspect about this hotel. There's one thing that MAY be important to some---there's NO ELEVATOR. If you have a mobility limitation, you would want to address that for a 1st-floor room. This hotel couldn't be more conveniently located--The downtown area is about 3 blocks away (seriously--it's that close). There's a Family Fare grocery store literally across the street along with the Munising visitors' center (if you go to the web cam for the Munising visitor's center, you can see the hotel across the street, the Family Fare sign, and the Shell station), a Hardee's, an auto parts store, and Shell gas station. We stocked up on goodies at the Family Fare to include breakfast sandwiches to microwave in the room versus having to go out 1st thing for breakfast--there's no breakfast at this hotel. If you're into the stink-weed, there's a couple of those shops nearby too. The Eh, Burger restaurant in town had excellent food at a good price---try the 5-piece whitefish basket!! Lake Superior whitefish caught locally--YUM!!! The gift shop in the Pictured Rocks Cruise center is the biggest, most complete, and best in the area...FYI. In short, don't hesitate to stay here as it's a REALLY nice place. I'd have NO quarrel booking a stay in the future!

Room as you walk in. Curtains cover the pool.

If I could give this hotel less than 1 star I would. Seriously, this place is a price gouging dump. My husband and I had a car accident and were stranded and had to get a room. This place was the only place available and they charged us $200. I was expecting better quality for the price and it was a big disappointment. When we got here to check in it took forever and they were overbooking the place. You'd think they'd have a better system. The elevator was not working and the pool was drained and being filled. Our room had permanently locked sliding doors to the pool and since they were filling it you could hear all the banging around. They don't even offer breakfast in the morning. What a fricking joke. Don't waste your money here.

    Quick repair! Professional job!

Our room with a view $235 a night with a bonus view of the dumpster and getting to the over night staff talking all night long! I give this place a 1 Star just for the fact they have enough nerve to charge to charge $235 a night. A campsite or my car trunk would be cleaner!! Stay away...

This Hotel/Inn was the epitome of how not to care about the standards that your guests are paying for and should expect. It is in desperate need for an update and there was a ad saying there was a continental breakfast but it was really a coupon to the bagel shop across the street that was so busy that there was an hour wait to sit and order. But back to the room it was like no one had cleaned or paid attention to the maintenance and upkeep of the room at all. See attachments. There were bulbs out and toilet seat was very loose, not to mention the hairs in the tub and bathroom floor along with the multiple black stains and streaks on the bed covering. The owner was at the desk and when I mentioned the issues she checked my acct info and was more concerned with how I got the room for 140$, she said we should be paying 200 per night. Thanks trivago. They have a indoor pool but when we went to use it the air was sooooo littered with the aroma of chlorine that we could not even sit in there let alone swim, even the small amount of time I was in there I came away with a major headache. So I recommend NOT EVER staying in this dirty, infested, attempt at a Hotel/Inn the only good thing was location but there are other options....Take the smart route and rent somewhere else

Tight bathroom space but not too bad

Over priced! Not real clean. Made a reservation but they didn't have me in the system. It then ended up being a hassle to check in.

That's the only semi-negative thing I will say about this place, The hotel is nice, the workers were nicer, the rooms were clean and the halls were quiet. The continental breakfast was pretty solid too. Bananas (finally! after 9 days in Michigan hotels, I was beginning to think there was a law against them) mini omelets, bagels, muffins, cinnamon rolls, turkey sausage and a pancake machine. The real star of this hotel is the back patio view. Sitting on their deck enjoying the views of Lake Superior while having a cold beverage is pretty amazing. The rooms with lake views have their own balconies or you can be a cheap ass like me and share the patio with the others.

The hot water was good. Water pressure was fine. The room's heat was welcome on the cold evening. Past the lobby the Inn has a nice seating area for breakfast. We found it to be a good spot to sit and eat food from town. The morning breakfast was busy both mornings. The staff did a good job keeping the coffee full and the food stocked. It was a nice money saver to not need to go out for breakfast in the morning. We opted for the cheaper room facing the parking lot. If I stayed here again, I would spring for a bay-side (Lakeview) room. We had a beautiful and bright sunrise over the bay. The staff was friendly.

The hotel was dog friendly, clean, comfortable, and well-kept. The free breakfast was better than expected and gave us a good start each morning. Our room faced South Bay of Lake Superior, which made for a beautiful view -- especially at sunset (though you'll need a little patience, since the sun doesn't set until after 10 PM in the summer!). The location was convenient with lots of great activities nearby, making it easy to explore the area without driving too far. Overall, this hotel added comfort and relaxation to an adventurous trip. The price was high for a room with a lake view but their season is not very long so I understand. The location is good just a mile into town and a short drive to the western sights of Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore Park. The room was decent nothing fancy except for the nice balcony looking out to the lake. Unfortunately the strong north wind and cold front limited our ability to sit outside except for a short bit. Welcome to Lake Superior at the very end of May! The breakfast room was super tiny for such a big place and on a Sunday morning it was cramped and hard to move around. Overall it worked for us.

Room left a lot to be desired. Paid $200 for the smallest lakefront room and was not worth it. Bedding was clean; however, room was not and maintenance was poor. Weatherstripping separated from door and daylight coming through, pine trim not sealed before painted so the sap is coming through, drywall coming apart in multiple areas, shower caulk and drywall separated from the shower, 1/3 of the bathroom ceiling was patched and repainted leaving the rest to not match, sloppy painting and patch not painted. Had a frig and microwave but lacking typical amenities like iron, ironing board, alarm clock and outlets. Literally one outlet available and none by the bed. TV great for the deaf because ability to turn off closed captioning was disabled. See pics for examples. I'd suggest finding other lodging. Perhaps rooms other than 125 are better. Check-in was a breeze, the owners are very accommodating. As we were very late booking, we got one of the unrenovated rooms, which yes, is dated, but they were clean. And we were barely in the room at all. Just showered and slept, as Munising is all about being outside. The rest of the motel grounds are super chill, with plenty of space to spread out outside, a cool dog, and interesting folks to chat with. The best part is that it's walking distance, a couple blocks, to the brew pubs and such in downtown Munising, so was the perfect location. Looking forward to seeing the changes in store for the place. Best of luck to the new owners!

This place is a legend amongst those who make the voyage to Munising, Michigan year after year for the variety of outdoor sites and activities. After being under the same ownership for decades, suffering a fire, and being purchased by a lovely couple on a mission - Scotty's is being given some much needed TLC and returned to it's former glory. Although some elements of this 50s/60s time capsule are being removed (think old carpet, crumbling plaster) the staples that bring the old school vintage charm are being protected, salvaged and honored by Tom, his wife, and their handsome little Bull Terrier. The owners are fabulous hosts, one of the best features of a motel vs a hotel - you make friends! They had an extra key for us, extra towels and an extra mini-fridge waiting for us based on the length of our stay and the fact that many restaurants are closed this time of year. We were offered an outdoor fire ring as well as access to a little greenhouse for a BOYB Happy Hour which was INCREDIBLE. We stayed up late playing board games and enjoyed the layout and space of the motel generally. The rooms have been given some serious love (still in progress for some rooms). The renovated rooms are CLEAN, SAFE, well-stocked with the necessities, and extremely comfortable. There will be no other place we stay in Munising. Scotty's or BUST. When checking out the next morning, there was a bedbug on a pillow. I was very discreet as I went to the front desk to let them know. It had already been a crappy morning because, unbeknownst to me, they had been without water for a week up until the day before our stay, their complimentary breakfast had no coffee, no juice, no meats or eggs, the waffle maker was broken, and though they also ran the attached convince store they wouldn't let you get that coffee without paying for it. The front desk person told a housekeeper of our situation then said they were calling the manager. After waiting half an hour because we were told the manager was on her way, we had to leave to make our next reservation. I made sure they had my contact info and was assured I'd be called. 7 hours later I called the lodge back and was told the manager, Amy, had left for the day. And that they didn't find anything else so she didn't know what management had decided about it. I asked to be called the next day and again nothing. So we went about our vacation. After returning to work from vacation I called the Sault Tribe in the U.P. who own the lodge. I was transferred to a woman named Jennifer and she listened to my situation. Then told me she was the wrong person to talk to and that I should be talking to Dan Doyle. She said she was going to email him about what I told her and CC me on that email. Never happened. It is now another week later and I called Dan Doyle to see what was going on. Had to leave a voicemail. It's been 3 days and nothing. Today I called the LMAS Health Department who is over that county. That lady said they can't do anything about bedbugs and I have to contact the owner Ok... soooooo.... the lodge basically said they didn't find any other bugs which likely means they didn't call an exterminator and just turned the room over. The management and owners don't seem to care and now neither does the health department. Mind you, I didn't ask for anything. Not a discount or refund. Nothing but to be contacted by management. They could have lied to me and said they fumigated the room, how would I know? But at least they would have appeared to give a shit. I will still file a complaint with the health department and BBB in Michigan so there is a paper trail and my conscious is clear. I just don't want any to get sick or take home bedbugs!!
