One of my co-workers gave me his cheap little trophy he earned playing midget football in second grade and I thought it would be hilarious to put that on a huge base. That way you could put the name of the winner year after year. I just needed a place that could do that. Enter A-Ok Trophies. Every day on my way to work, for the last three years, I've passed A-OK Trophies. But I've never gone in. Since I finally had a trophy need and they were the local mom and pop trophy shop, I decided to take my fantasy football trophy plans to them. On my first visit to A-Ok, I was met at the door by the owner Lonnie P. I explained to her my vision. She took the cheap little trophy from my hands and said something to the effect of you know this is a just a cheap thing right? We essentially cleared our back room of hundreds of these because no one wanted them. I tried to explain to her that it was an ironic sort of gesture to the real football of one of our pasts but she really didn't find the humor or irony in it. Instead she said "You want to see some real fantasy football trophies? Here, follow me." We went to a shelf at the back of the trophy showroom and there were probably 15 to 20 different fantasy football trophies. All of them were way more impressive than the ironic thing I had in mind. I tucked my little, inferior trophy between my legs and listened as she explained the perks and prices of all the trophies they had to offer. After hearing her spiel I picked out the trophy that I wanted, after much hand wringing, and put in an order for it. She asked me exactly what I wanted it to say and took notes on it. Then she told me what it would cost and when it would be done. She also took my number and said she would give me a call when it was ready to be picked up. Just as Lonnie said, when the trophy was ready, she gave me a call. I went in and saw it and, let's just say, it brought a fantasy football tear to my eye. It was gorgeous. By that point of the season we had our winner so I asked if she could engrave the name plate and put that on the trophy. Again, she told me how long it would take, the cost and when I could pick it up. If you have any trophy needs (or ironic trophy ideas) I suggest checking out A-Ok Trophies in Land O'Lakes. The prices seemed reasonable (although I don't price trophies much) and Lonnie P. can help set you up with whatever you need. During one of our conversations Lonnie told me that she and her husband travel to Las Vegas (I think that was the city) each year for a trophy convention. So not only are you getting your trophy need fulfilled at A-Ok, you are also getting cutting edge, top of the line, fresh off the industry shelves trophy choices. I'm not sure you can beat that.
