ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING EXPERIENCE -- DO NOT GO HERE, EVER! Piedmont Urgent Care in Covington, GA (off 278) is the absolute worst medical experience I've ever had, and I need everyone to hear this loud and clear: DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY HERE. I came in visibly, obviously sick -- relentless coughing, body aches, sore throat, green phlegm, sinus pressure. They took my vitals, asked why I was there, told me the nurse practitioner Alicia would be in shortly. FORTY-FIVE MINUTES later, Alicia shows up, spends maybe ONE MINUTE with me, listens to my lungs (even while I'm actively coughing), glances at my throat, claims I somehow have thrush from an inhaler I literally just started using the DAY BEFORE, writes a prescription, and walks out. No real exam, no time spent, no care shown. I felt completely insignificant. Like I was just another box to check off. They made me feel like a burden, like I was just wasting their time -- when I was clearly very sick and needed help. I even asked for a second opinion and was denied on the spot. "Nothing's wrong except thrush," they told me. On top of that, they made me spend additional money, and I've heard nothing from my insurance company. It's like they're more focused on cranking through as many patients as possible -- probably because they get paid by how many people they shove in and out, not by the hour or by quality of care. They don't slow down, they don't listen, they don't CARE. And here's the kicker: after I got upset and asked for more help, they suddenly sent in a random white woman -- someone I hadn't seen at all when I first arrived -- like that would somehow calm me down or change my mind. Did they think switching the face in the room would fix the problem? It was bizarre and honestly felt insulting. Alicia and the entire staff at this location should be absolutely ashamed. This is not medical care. This is a factory line. Patients deserve to be seen, heard, and treated with respect -- not rushed through like dollar signs on a balance sheet. I came in with a complaint of severe pain in my left lung and coughing my head off. She came in, listened to my chest and said it was a flare up oh my GERD! I'm no doctor but I've never had GERD make it hard for me to breathe! I started a email to my primary care doctor. After reading the xray, she said I had bronchitis!! After my 2nd day of antibiotics and steroids I'm feeling SO much better! Piedmont should be ashamed of having a provider who is so unlistening!! Will never go back!!! If I could give zero stars, I would. Approximately two months ago, I brought my 4-year-old child to this facility due to a high fever, stomach pain, and difficulty breathing. After waiting for an hour, the registrar on the right (a white female with noticeable dental issues) called me to the counter. I assumed it was to process the co-pay, but instead, I was informed about an outstanding balance of over $300 from my daughter's 4-year-old annual physical. Despite having insurance, I was unaware of this balance. I explained my situation and expressed that my priority was having my sick child seen. However, the registrar insisted that payment was required before any care could be provided. I offered $50, which was all I had at the time, but was told this was insufficient. I questioned the practice of potentially denying care to a sick child over an unrelated balance, and the registrar essentially confirmed that this was the policy. She consulted with her manager and returned to inform me that at least half the balance would need to be paid for my child to receive care. At that point, I became deeply frustrated. With over 16 years of experience in Patient Access and Revenue Cycle Management for a multi-specialty medical group, I can confidently say that no patient--especially a child in an emergency situation--should ever be denied care due to an outstanding balance. The behavior of both the registrar and the manager was appalling. Prioritizing financial matters over the health and well-being of a patient is unacceptable and unethical. I strongly believe my daughter's right to proper emergent healthcare was violated, and this facility should be ashamed of its practices. read more

I've never spent less than two hours waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting. We only come here when the pediatrician's office is closed and we have no other option. Typically for a strep test when one of our kids spikes that classic high late afternoon fever. Strep test results take 10 minutes. No other test needed. Provider finally saunters in after I ask and see her laughing and cutting up with a nurse looking at something on a cell phone. Says she's coming. Walks in and says "what's going on?" as if we haven't already provided all of that and done the test. Provider literally in the exam room 2.5 minutes to tell us that he has strep. Which they knew almost an hour ago. Doesn't listen to his lungs. Doesn't look in his ears. Does look at his tonsils. I hate this place. Our nurse was awesome though. She is the reason for the second star. read more

My wife and I visited this facility in commerce for suspected pneumonia. We had pneumonia. They took an x-ray of each of us. They did not take my wife's insurance, so we paid out of pocket $212 flat fee. I had Medicare with supplemental insurance. They billed nearly two and a half times what my wife paid out of pocket just because I had insurance. I'm a retired doctor, so I know how insurance works. It shouldn't work like this. We won't be back. I've also filed claims with the insurance commissioner of Georgia and with Medicare. read more

I used to like this place but they don't seem to give a crap. How are you "urgent care" but I arrive when you are open and you can't see me until 3pm. I have a raspy voice in the morning; the young lady was fine with me walking in without a mask at first but all of a sudden made a push back face and then asked me to get a mask. I'm fine with it but don't assume I have shit. It's all about the FACE Of the company ... I should feel like you want to work with me when I walk in not feeling like I'm a burden. I like piedmont because all my medical files are all together and my primary can see what has happened prior ... but the attitude, and energy that they have that pulls me back from cursing them out ... I've had three separate experiences at this location. 1st - Covid-19 tests for me and family went as expected. No issue then. 2nd - My 6 yr old daughter fell and bonked her head really hard. She quickly developed a large egg on her forehead and requested a x-ray to ensure there wasn't any structural damage. The lady at the counter was very short with us as if she was annoyed we showed up. She said they don't x-ray heads despite them advertising themselves as an imaging center. What if someone has a hurt jaw or nose and needs an x-ray? 3rd - I started getting dizzy Sunday evening. I suspected it was an ear infection since I felt this way before and wanted someone to look in my ears to confirm and get some antibiotics. I went in 1 hour before closing and was sent away after being told they were booked. There were 0 cars in the parking lot, no one in the waiting room, and the place was silent. They seemed to be more worried about leaving work on-time than caring for their patients ailments. I'm not going to state they are terrible but my past experiences don't give me the impression they are in the right industry. I'd try another urgent care center if I were you. There is no compassion or urgency from staff on behalf of it's sick patient. You literally scheduled a time to be seen and there is no communication letting the patient know anything just waiting. But if you go up to ask what's the hold up they act like you bothering them. You don't want patients running to the ER but you can't even schedule here and be seen like your problem does not matter. ATP just go to the ER or if you can just wait to see your pcp and save yourself a lot of wasted time sitting around for them to care about you. This place really sucks. read more

If you want to spend your whole entire day there go! got there at 10:30 now I understand wait times in an urgent care are to be expected, but not this long. I didn't leave this urgent care until 3:45. While I was in the urgent care, I had to throw up. Bathrooms aren't available in the front lobby they are out of order. After being there for 4 hours, in the actual patient waiting room for 2 I asked the nurse practitioner for my paperwork that had already been printed and she said she'd be right back, waited another 20 minutes before I decided to walk out and just sign out. I approach the desk she was sitting at and ask her if im free to go and she says oh here's your paperwork, that had been sitting right beside her that whole time. My prescription was sent to the wrong pharmacy after I said multiple times to send it to the Walmart in Covington. Receptionists were rude. I took my granddaughter who was visiting with us here for her to see a Dr. No Dr. there she saw a PA. I was charged a large amount and was told she had TMJ and a prescription was called in for ibuprofen. A few days later she has a fever very tired, going to urgent care again today to be tested for the flu. Fever 101.6 All symptoms are not the same. Even though someone looks and acts like they are okay, sometimes they are the ones who need the most care. I would probably not use this urgent care again. A waste of time and professional service not to mention only to get a prescription for ibuprofen. Parents speak up, I should have. I should have insisted on a flu test. Remember Drs, PA, NP they work for you. You are paying them. They only know what we tell them. Sometimes they listen and sometimes they go by what PDR or what the normal is. Listen to your patients. The first time there was for strep and the wait in the lobby wasn't long, but the wait in the room was kind of long, but not like at an ER or doctors office. They were very nice both times. I have two experiences with this place. The first time my brother cut himself on the finger. It was a 3 hour wait and they said it was fine. Later went to another place and this doctor was surprised that they said it was fine because it was actually a really bad cut. The second time I came for strep. I came multiple times with my sister for several reasons. The first time was for the flu. They gave her medicine and she was good. Second time, she had really bad stomach pain so they checked and she was treated. Now we are here and they gave her an x-ray and even a breathing machine. I have a new one on order, but was refused a breathing treatment as I am failed outpatient. If you cannot afford an Emergency Room visit I would not recommend going to Piedmont Urgent Care. My kids and I came to get Covid tests for travel. Waited 3 hours for a virtual visit with a provider who spent 15 seconds telling us we could get the tests. So I'm thinking great! Now we can get tests and continue preparing for our trip. I had a very good office visit. No problems with that. But I received a bill and their website won't let me pay it. You have to create an account in order to pay. It wouldn't let me create an account. I tried to call them and spent 40 minutes on the phone w 5 different agents. Each person told me I don't have an account. Doctor Jennifer has an excellent bedside manner and I appreciated her courtesy, active listening and thoroughness. I'm leaving the community soon but am glad to have met Dr. Jennifer and her staff. They bring a touch of excellence to Covington that I have only seen in the neighboring Pediatric facility. I would highly recommend this urgent care. We used to drive to Conyers for a far inferior experience on every level. This is the place to go in Covington. I would say it's worth the drive from a surrounding communities as well. I went in limping, was not offered a wheelchair, and was expected to walk barefooted to the x-ray dept. on public (dirty) floor. I was given a surgical boot that was too small. I was told this was the only size so a man who wears a size 13 would have been given a women's small. Really? The PA couldn't read the X-ray- which the person had to resort to a sheet to see how to do it- and gave a wrong diagnosis. I found another place to go to next time. read more

I was told that didn't apply to urgent care facilities. My insurance company has contacted them 2 times and I've contacted them 5 to 6 times and yet to get a call back nor refund. Thus has been going on for 2.5 months. They were also unable to diagnose bronchitis after taking xrays so got sent to ER. Nurses that day were busy chatting while people waited hours for care. Urgent care facilities are a must for the many of us that are uninsured. However, I would stay far away from this one! I visited this location today due to severe pain in my right rib area. I was charged $155 for the doctor to jab me in my ribs, sending searing pain throughout my body, so much pain I actually cried (which I never do) and the doctor promptly told me she couldn't help me and I should go to the ER. I made a beeline to the ER, now terrified and thinking the worst. The ER did an X-ray at the cost of thousands of dollars and concluded that my rib was badly bruised internally. I'm convinced at this point that this urgent care facility just scammed me out of $155 and I can't imagine what the ER bill will be! read more

I proceeded to sit in my car for 3 hrs waiting for my virtual appointment and I'm told I cannot get a covid test today despite the waiting. I went in for a visit was told they were unable to help me and they referred me to the emergency room. I was told the doctor I would not be charged for the visit. They charged me anyways. I have been trying to get refunded for almost a week now. They keep saying it needs manager approval to do so even tho it is written on my intake no charge. I recommend only going here if you are sure they can help you otherwise if they refer you out you may have to do the legwork and chase your money down. This is the worst urgent care we have ever used! Will not use nor recommend again. Waited for about 3+hours only to have then run 2flu, & a strep test for a low grade fever no sore throat or any symptoms of the flu and diagnosed with a sinus infection. Had called and asked at the appt if they took my insurance and they said yes ask told no visits are ever over $250. The started out not billing my insurance and I received attempts to charge my debit card over and over tried for. Week to call their billing dept and never got thru and their vm was full so finally called back to the urgent care office and demanded someone call me back. I was given the managers direct number because she wasn't in the office had to call her and leave a message she was nice and called back and I was asked to send an email with information. She never called back so had to call her again. She answered with what sounded like kids in the background and smacking like she was eating. She said she didn't get it after saying over and over I sent it and resending it while she was in the phone she asked if it was from an gmail and it was and then said oh yeah we have trouble with those the company blocks them for some reason. I asked could I text it to her and she said oh yea that's fine. I sent it to her and she had them stop the debit attempts so I wouldn't get more charges and said she would get in it and call me back. Stephanie never called me back I texted after a week or so and she said no resolution yet and she just didn't know why. After a month I got a bill in the mail. I texted Stephanie again and I got absolutely no response and she wouldn't answer my call. I called the office again and asked for her boss and they left me on hold for over 30 mins I had to hang up and call back and they said they had no clue who her boss was and their billing deot has had lots of complaints and I would just have to call back. I finally called and got thru the billing dept and asked for their manager after they told me that everything we were told earlier was not correct. They did put theu billing to my insurance and it paid $166 and they were charging use $297 dollars ... their cash price was cheaper than that. I asked for their managers and got a name and number left a message because she wasn't in the office until the following day and yet to have anyone call back.
