Most New Yorker's don't realize this but there are a lot of fun activities hidden along the West side of Manhattan. While Chelsea Piers usually comes to mind for fun indoor activities Pier 25 offers nothing but low-key, outdoor activities for all. The Pier itself is very accessible from either Canal or Franklin Streets and is only a few blocks away from some great TriBeCa restaurants (i.e. Bubby's or Locanda Verde). For the past few years Pier 25 has been my go-to for inexpensive fun in the sun: $4 kid or $5 adult mini-golf course with 18 holes (+1 waterfall!), one massive playground with separate swing and water fountain area, a skate park, sailing and three beach volley ball nets with plenty of space to sit. It even includes two snack stands and bathrooms as well as clear walking access to other nearby piers. If you prefer to people watch and enjoy a rooftop view of Manhattan, City Vineyard is just steps away. Genuinely recommend this spot for everyone who lives in New York City - it's definitely worth the subway or taxi ride! read more

I love this playground with the mini golf on the back. Very kid friendly esp with the unique setting that they made for the kids to play with. I think I would enjoy it if I could just climb my way through the giant rope ball and the other cool play areas they've got that I haven't seen anywhere but here. Not to mention the wall climbing rock wherein kids can go all the way to the top and fall down on the other side. hilarious. The other side is for wet play wherein they have water squirts and sand, very cool for the summer if your kids are on their wetsuits and all. The mini golf was just right for the price $5 for each adult and $4 for kids. They have about 12 holes i think that you have to finish to the end. Although the timing wasnt quite perfect for us to be there, because it was crowded by all these families trying to enjoy the last days of summer, I'd say it still beats the odds on giving the children something to do besides talking and ignoring the grown ups. We diddnt really reach the park that was all the way on the very far end, but a glimpse on the beach volleyball field was cool while we walked around the area. Definitely a place to recommend to everyone. read more

Pier 25 is awesome. This is one of the best place to visit in NYC. I came to pier 25 to play mini golf and didnt know that was only 5 dollars for adults, 4 dollars for kids under the age of 14 years old. For those prices and in Manhattan is super cheap. they also have a skate park for people that skateboard, playground for kids to play and enjoy the sun and a beach volleyball court. This is a hot spot for tourist because there so much to do and with a beautiful view across the water. I will definitely come back soon to play mini golf if was fun. read more

Came here with a date and it was a nice place. To start off the view was great!! You can see Jersey City with the water and at night time its a great sight. I went to play mini golf and its awesome because its only $5 for the course but you get what you pay for. The course isn't the most challenging and if you have a slow group in front of you, it will literally slow everyone else behind you down. We were stuck behind two groups of four but didn't mind hanging out. For the city, its a pretty good value, especially with the price. read more

Great place to come in the summer in NYC. An 18-course mini golf game is only $6 per person which is pretty much unheard of in the city. Also, they have a lot of other activities such as beach volleyball and drinks on the Hudson as well. There was also people coming to just walk their dog or relax. This place is amazing! I went into manhattan with my 6 year old son and this was the highlight of our trip, mini golf for only $6 a person. Free art play, free jungle gyms. Icee cream and snacks available for purchase. There is a beautiful view of a small harbor on the water with a clear view of Ellis Island! We just loved it! read more

Pier 25 is a great place to take the kids, with mini-golf, playgrounds, snacks, and bathrooms. The area is clean, has nice views and some grass, and isn't too far from the subway either. Mini-golf was only $5 for adults and $4 for kids. It's a small course, so if you're from the Midwest you should adjust your expectations - no towering windmills here. But the course had some reasonably interesting water features and ramps and things. There was a line to get started at the first tee, but making allowance for the fact that this is NYC I wouldn't say it was overcrowded. The staff were very friendly and so were the families and sweethearts on the course. read more

Challenging course but maintenance is an issue along with speed of play. I would recommend a couple of rangers out on the course. Also the course superintendent has resorted to green tape to patch up divots. Bunkers are an extra challenge as they are rarely raked. Luckily water is not an issue any more on this course which does lead to overall lower scores. Not Bethpage Black but nonetheless prepare for a fun challenge. read more

This is a great place to take your family or just hang out with some friends. There's an amazing playground, skate park, and mini golf for the family. There is also free kayaking, check the local schedule. There is also a restaurant nearby on the Pier if you want to grab a bite. The mini golf was $5 for adults, $4 for kids. Great condition, but a logjam to wait to get over the 16th hole, the one with the bridge over troubled water. What's the trouble? When the fountain's on, your ball will be shooshed into a log that deposits your ball near the hole. When the fountain's off, your ball languishes in a muddy pond that requires you to net forever to find it.. Plus, while you wait, the backlog might extend to the place between the 14th and 15th holes, which is good for a view of the volleyball courts, but bad because it presents kids with a "climbable" wall which serves as the backdrop for the fountain. Result? Lots of kids screaming that they can't get down! So basically, if you see that the water's off, bypass those holes and go straight to the 17th hole. Speaking of climbing walls, the adjacent playground has a very badly designed rock climbing wall, as previously yelped by a helpful reviewer. Difficult footholds, but say you manage to get on top of the wall. There's no easy way down, and the footholds on the way down aren't the easiest, plus the wall is pretty darn high. Just jump off the other side you say? The other side is a sheer cliff! They should have made it so when you get to the top the kids could at least just hop off. Instead I see these little kids scooting around on the top ridge with no easy way down, and jumping down's going to turn an ankle! read more

Ahhh I don't even want to post anything about pier 25 because it's so perfect and amazing that I don't want it to become any more crowded than it already is! But I will anyway out of a kindness of my heart. There's mini golf - the most reasonably priced mini golf in maybe all of nyc at only $6. It's by no means a suburb, interesting mini golf course but it's kind of adorable and a cute date night option if you're not competitive (because you can easily make every hole in 1-2 shots). There's also great volleyball courses in sand which you can reserve and a sports field where a lot of people play soccer. There's great benches and views at the end of the pier and a large playground and skate park with decently clean bathrooms as well. read more

All started good. Called in this morning and they said they were open. They usually don't open completely till spring, but website says they'll open on nice days above fifty degrees. Then we walked over to the place, and saw the gates closed. The person in the phone had said, "We're open until six." I called again and asked why they said they're open. Apparently the person was too lazy to check. The customer service was never good in previous trips either. This experience ruined my day, don't come here unless you don't mind the above. read more

Came here about 2pm on a Sunday afternoon (the first, truly nice weather weekend in April) and paid $12 (cash only!) for Mini Golf for two people. Knowing that it was a nice, Sunday afternoon, I expected it to be crowded. Waited about 10-15 minutes to begin at the first hole, and had to wait about 10 minutes at each hole after that (although it thinned out as we made our way through the course). The holes are very, very straightforward with little to no frills or obstacles, other than some inclines and rocks on the greens. The grounds of the course definitely needed some tending, but I'll let them have a pass since it was early in the season. Also, one hole involved a water feature, but since it was early in the season, there was no water, which confused a heck of a lot of people, and forced people to play from inside the empty riverbed. Also, be aware of people just jumping holes and playing in front of you. This happened 2-3 times, which wasn't too bad (and I understand being frustrated at the long wait time), but we were in and out through a crowded course in about 60-75 minutes. For $6 though, it was a fun afternoon treat. read more

My kids had a blast. Really nice mini golf course, especially for the city and for the price. We made a whole day out of it. After mini golf, had lunch right after. There are tables along the pier close by the snack bar. Nice a relaxing to sit by the water. After we headed over to the great playground. Besides the minigolf and beach volleyball and views, the pier has quite unique historic vessels . . . ships. Sometimes they are open and you can tour. Knowledgeable people talk about them and their purposes. Interesting art is sold there. Sometimes boat rides can be had. I definitely shared the reaction of previous commenters--I can't believe I didn't know this place existed until now! $5 for eighteen holes of waterside mini golf is the best deal in NYC! Sure the course could be a little more interesting, but it's $5! I didn't know anything still cost $5 in New York! And it's in one of the most beautiful spots in the city! Between the New Order/Smiths dominated golf playlist, the waterside breezes, the amazing view, and all the adorable kids running around, it's a wonderful atmosphere. And with Battery Park and some of NYC's best brunch joints just blocks away, it makes for a perfect Sunday afternoon. Seriously this is my new favorite spot, even without the golf. read more
