This was my fourth Surf Yoga Beer trip, and it was hands down my best one yet. Türkiye and the Turkish Riviera were spectacular, but Nikki R. and Eli Elmore were what made this experience truly exceptional. This was my second trip with Eli, and he is by far my favorite leader to travel with. He has an innate ability to lead with confidence while remaining thoughtful, approachable and deeply respectful of everyone around him. His conviction in the way he lives, his ability to bring people together and his willingness to extend grace when it is needed set him apart. He creates an environment where people feel supported, included and encouraged to become the best versions of themselves. Eli alone makes any experience ten times better, regardless of the destination, and I would travel anywhere with him as a leader. Nikki brought an entirely different and equally valuable energy to the trip. She made everything more fun while also having a remarkable ability to make everyone feel comfortable being completely themselves. From creating TikTok music videos and laughing over the smallest things to having meaningful one-on-one conversations, she knew exactly when to bring the energy and when to slow down and genuinely connect. Nikki was also one of the best yoga instructors I have ever practiced with. Meditation and journaling have always been difficult for me, but her guidance made both feel natural, accessible and meaningful. She leads with kindness, and that kindness speaks volumes. Nothing about her approach felt forced or performative. She created a safe space that allowed people to open up, reflect and participate at their own pace. Together, Eli and Nikki created the perfect balance of adventure, structure, laughter, reflection and genuine connection. They made every person feel seen and brought out something special in the entire group. I would enthusiastically book another trip led by either of them and would be especially excited to travel with them together again. This was more than an incredible vacation. I just got back from the Egypt SYB trip, and it was absolutely incredible! I couldn't have asked for a better way to explore Egypt. SYB truly outdid themselves with every detail, from visiting iconic temples to riding ATVs, cruising the Red Sea on a massive yacht, kitesurfing, and diving in some of the world's most famous spots. When I first heard about Surf Yoga Beer, I honestly thought it sounded too good to be true - an exotic trip with 30 like-minded individuals who are (mostly) traveling solo for yoga, steamy workouts, and a good time. Seems like this can't actually be the real deal, right? WRONG. I was so wrong. And I never admit I'm wrong, so that's saying something, right? If you're thinking about booking your trip with Surf Yoga Beer, DO IT. I'm the girl who's scared of everything, but I nervously booked a trip to Sayulita for Surf Yoga Boxing and it was worth overcoming every fear I had. Traveling solo? So is almost everyone else. Scared you won't be able to handle the workouts? They have something for every level AND expert trainers to guide you. Feel weird about having a random roommate? They'll match you up with someone based on your pre-trip form. And if you're a control freak like me, let go. The leaders of this trip will plan everything from meals to excursions to shuttle buses to AND from the airport. Katie B. and Adam were amazing coordinators. Sarah and Rad stole my heart with their amazing workouts and encouragement. Ryan documented the entire trip with professional photos and videos so we could remember these moments forever. Morocco was already my third SYB trip and it was definitely as amazing as the other two and with the same mantras "you're surrounded by love" and "don't think just do". Although the group was quite big (c. 50 people) I really had the feeling that I knew almost everyone at the end of the trip. SYB is able to create a safe space from day 1, from which deeper connections are built not only with the people around you, but also with yourself. It's the combination of FUN, EXERCISE and MINDFULNESS that makes these SYB trips for me like no other trips I've been on. In Morocco we had Africa burn-vibes desert disco (with a cool down in the swimming pool), camel ride, ATV, hot air balloon, 24 hours in Marrakech, champagne showers on the beach, morning runs through Taghazout, glamping in the desert, desert yoga etc. However, what always makes these trips so special is not so much all the fun activities, it's the beautiful souls that decide to step outside their comfort zone and open themselves up to connect with new people around the world. I went on an adventure with surf yoga beer last month to Palawan, Philippines. I had signed up because I needed to reset and escape the hustle in New York that had me running and chasing the end of a rat race that was not for me. Unbelizable time in Belize. I can't say enough great things about this fitness travel crew. Genuine fitness teachers with some kick butt playlists. I learned to surf in Nicaragua, participated in the summer run club runs, and have gone to bootycamps. I also attended the rosé olympics in Montauk and went to Cuba with Surf Yoga Beer. On top of all that I just booked my snowboarding trip to Colorado, so it's safe to say I'm pretty much obsessed with this company. I hate to even call it a company because it is sooo much more than that. They curate these amazing fitness adventures and events, but they also create an energy that is unmatched. The people that are drawn to SYB trips and events are some of the most interesting and genuine people I have traveled with. There is focus on a healthy balanced lifestyle vs your typical yoga or fitness retreat, which helps bring like minded, fun and fitness loving individuals out to all of the events. I still talk to people from every event or adventure I have attended. The leaders and instructors have all been passionate and friendly. This is my my second review, after my second Surf Yoga Beer trip within a 9 month span. Some might say that's a little impulsive, but as leader Mantas Zvina would advise, "don't think, just do.." :) I just returned from the SYB trip to Palawan (Philippine Islands), and there are few words that can describe my experience. In terms of staff, Mantas as a leader came along for the ride to not only ensure the trip runs smoothly, but to make sure everyone feels comfortable and at ease together. He starts every morning with a kick ass workout on the beach (get ready to get down and dirty in the sand, and not give a sh*t what you look like). We had an awesome tour group, Tao Group, for the first 5 days of the trip. These guys brought so much of the energy and culture alive for us; I spent most of my days just laughing! They have fresh breakfast, lunch, and dinner prepared daily, including one farm to table meal, it doesn't get much better than that. We ate each meal as a group, which brought everyone closer together. We spent most of our days traveling by boat to and from secluded islands. If you ever saw "The Beach" - this is your time to live it. If you get boat sick I definitely recommend bringing something with you, as you will be spending a lot of time on the boat! Consider this your main "home." Every afternoon we arrived to a new island, where we would have to physically swim/snorkel from the boat to our new home for the night. In the late afternoons we had a variety of optional activities planned for us, always a great way to wind down the day (i.e yoga, massages, group break out sessions). Each night, we would sleep in an outdoor hut with only a mosquito net above us. In summary: if you are open to stepping out of your comfort zone, not showering for a few days, and unplugging from the world - this is the trip for you. This trip really gave me the chance to step into a place of discomfort, and open myself up to new possibilities and experiences. Life Changing Trip!!! I recently attended my first SYB trip to Honduras. It was truly an ahhhmaazing adventure filled with fun work out sessions, great food, awesome people, tons of laughs, and memories that will last a lifetime! When I first signed up for this trip I was extremely nervous. I thought it was either going to be like college spring break to Cancun OR a group of close friends that already knew each other and I was going to feel out of place. This was anything, but what I thought! People: The leaders Kingsley and Mantas are AWESOME! Everyone who attended the trip genuinely had a positive attitude. By the end of the trip it felt like a family. I couldn't believe how close I became with several of the people in just a few short days. It truly is a bonding experience like nothing else I have been through. Workouts: They were intense at times, but FUN! I personally love competitive activities, so I enjoyed the beach competition events the most. Overall, there was a nice balance between the yoga and the bootcamps. None of the activities are mandatory, so you can pick and choose what you would like to participate in. I personally tried to attend all activities for fear of missing out on any of the fun!! Take Away: I personally found the trip to be life changing for me. After returning, I felt as if I was sleeping through my life for the past few years and the trip really jump started me again. After almost a year of being a part of SYB, it seems only fitting to finally share my review. SurfYogaBeer began as a grassroots movement envisioned by two dear friends. What started as fitness adventure retreats quickly turned into weekly meet ups and local hangouts. As a part of the San Diego chapter, I can say what makes this great is the fact that though most of us started off as strangers, we all quickly became friends. I could not wait to review SYB after having such an amazing trip to San Juan Del Sur in Nicaragua: The Staff: While I imagine that it couldn't be easy to organize 22 varying personalities, age ranges, and preferences on a trip in a foreign country - the group that was staffing this trip made it seem effortless. Each leader was so positive and personable that it allowed all of the participants to connect with them immediately and often. The Food: All meals were prepared fresh, and I found myself constantly looking forward to indulging in the next one. I recommend doubling up on the pulled pork tacos if you are lucky enough to have Eddie prepare those during your trip. The Workouts: Each of the workouts were so rewarding that I think I still have an endorphin buzz - even though the last workout was 3 days ago. Bottom Line: I had such a positive experience throughout this trip -- from cultivating new relationships with the staff and participants while exploring a new country, to being well fed and physically active for 4 days-- my experience with SYB was truly wonderful. I recently participated in the SYB Iceland Trail Running trip. An avid runner and member of the SYB Run Club in NYC, I was super excited to be a part of this running adventure. It was one of the BEST experiences of my life - I was pushed both physically and mentally and made amazing friends along the way. The accommodations were tight, but SYB designed it that way to foster community and engagement among the travelers. The group hired a professional photographer to capture our best moments and a chef to prepare the tastiest cuisine for us to enjoy post long days of running and hiking. I just returned from the Sayulita, Mexico trip and could not be happier. A little background: I was referred by my sister who went on the Nicaragua trip with her boyfriend and she said it was amazing. I was hesitant at first since I never travel alone and knew no one going on the trip. Long story short, I said f it and booked. The trip from start to finish was awesome. Everything was nicely organized and didn't feel rushed or pressured. We would have our morning workouts and Mantas (a SYB leader) would give us the layout for the rest of the day. The days were structured in such a way that you never felt like you were on a schedule. All of the workouts were intense, fun, and engaging. It felt great to sweat out all of the toxins from the previous day. Detox and retox, rinse & repeat. The town of Sayulita was beautiful and the people/culture/food were amazing. Take a look at the review by 'Natedog L.' for more on that. In short, I have no regrets or anything negative to say about the trip or SYB. IT WAS AMAZING and I plan to do another one soon. The leaders and everyone involved in the SYB operation really go out of their way to make you feel welcome and comfortable. You're never pressured to participate in anything you don't want to. Went to Playa Maderas, Nicaragua over NYE 2018. It was a blast! Such an amazing combo of fitness, partying, eating, dancing, and relaxing. The group was 20s-30s, singles and couples. Everyone shared a YES attitude - the people who actually make plans, show up, and dominate everything they do. Boot camp mornings were scary for me at first, but I was shocked by how fun they were - more like beach Olympics than boot camp. The surfing at Maderas is epic, and the yoga was an awesome way to wind down before some inevitable post-dinner magical surprise. I feel like part of an authentic community after this trip and I can't say enough great things about Mantas, Eddie, and the rest of the SYB team. Thank you!!!! read more

What an unbelievable experience and way more than the average vacation in all aspects. The workouts were exceptional not just in intensity level but also the varied activities and attention to boxing form (boxing trainers Jaws and Jerimiah were beyond!) our yoga instructor Eva from Finland was beautiful inside and out which created a reason for all of us to struggle through the mountainous workouts knowing we were going to receive a sunset yoga session as a gift and return the love to our bodies for all of the hard work we put them through. The food !!!!! I can't say enough about Eddies daily breakfasts, beachside long-table sunset into dusk candle lit dinners and always a spread of fresh local fruits and snacks to keep our nutrition on point and maintain a high energy level. At night there was also an unbelievable assortment of libations you could dream of. He was also happy to make frozen margaritas, sangrias, and bloody Maria's upon request. The local delicacies in town off the hook from street side handmade tortillas loaded with local meats and fresh salsas. Local seafood tacos and ceviches. Beach ocean front massages. Bathtub warm ocean waters. The icing on the cake was our crew, unstoppable , determined , mountain climbing, smiling through grueling workouts, laughing through it all. I can't thank you enough. I really hate to be negative, but it's important for people to know what they're signing up for. This is not a business. This is a group of kids that find a house on Airbnb and then charge you to stay in uncomfortable beds in homes they've never seen before. My girlfriend convinced me to sign up, thinking we'd have a great week of fitness, healthy food and relaxation. It was none of those things. The food was horrible and there was never enough to go around. It was never ready on time, and made by a bunch of "helpers". There was no actual chef. I feel healthier at home. In fact, my girlfriend complained about feeling like she GAINED WEIGHT. Which is a crazy concept on a so called "health & fitness retreat" The fitness was a joke. The trainer barely knew anything other than basic group fitness moves that anyone could download on youtube. I asked him a few questions about anatomy and he barely got through an answer. Come to find out, this guy is an accountant and not even certified! Which is irresponsible and dangerous. Theres no denying that the scenery was beautiful, but the house was not ideal, some rooms were packed with people like we were in an episode of MTVs Real World. Girls crying, people hooking up, the actual founders acting like this was their own personal party, getting drunk and acting like frat guys. I was blown away. One of the leaders hooked up with TWO of the guests while we were there. If beer pong, bad fitness and feeling like sh*t when you return home from vacation is your thing, youll love this. I am proud to say that I have been a member of Surf Yoga Beer San Diego since day 1!! I participate in many of the activities including the amazing Thursday evening 5 mile runs at Sunset Cliffs. This group has changed my lifestyle for the better, motivated and encouraged me to continue my fitness journey and has introduced me to some of the most incredible people I have ever met!! I have made many genuine friends through surf yoga beer.. a few of them traveled to las vegas with me last year to complete the Rock and Roll half marathon! My journey with SYB all started with a fitness trip to Hawaii that I joined on a last minute notice back in 2015. I'm thankful that I did, because it turned out to be a trip of a lifetime! At first I was hesitant on spending a week with 15 strangers and waking up at 6am for bootcamps, but they always made waking up fun, & those 15 "strangers" ended up becoming friends- some even ended up becoming my best friends! I got back into my groove of working out and continued it back to San Diego by joining the local boot camps, yoga, and runs on the beach. I just got back from my first SYB adventure in Nicaragua. I was first introduced to SurfYogaBeer San Diego was when I decided to check out RunYogaBeer one Thursday evening. To this day, that was one of the best decisions I've ever made for my personal happiness and well-being. I was a little nervous at first, considering I didn't know anyone in the group, I was terribly out of shape, and I've never done yoga before. I was only able to make it to yoga my first time, but as soon as I walked up to Nathan's place after a long and stressful week at work and seeing two beautiful palm trees line the courtyard, hearing the waves crashing nearby, a lit fireplace with candles all around, and so many beaming smiles...I knew right away I was definitely going to come back for more. Everyone in the group, both veterans of SYB and new folks, made me feel at home and welcome right away. It was as if I knew the tribe for years and I immediately felt like I was a part of the family. During yoga, I could feel all of my tension and stress flush away and relaxation and serenity quickly flowed in. My body felt so incredible after an hour and I didn't want the session to end. We then went to Wonderland and I got a chance to meet Nathan and the rest of the tribe. It was such an amazing experience and I was already yearning for more. I was officially addicted to SYB. Since my first RunYogaBeer, I have been doing my best to attend every Thursdays as a part of my weekly routine. It's so easy for me to get caught up with the daily grind and stress from work and life, but every time I go out to meet with the tribe, I feel a sense of relief and a high like no other. Thursdays are my favorite days of the week and the crew is always encouraging me to do my best and push my limits each and every week. Before SYB, I hated the thought of exercising and leading a healthy lifestyle, but the community has transformed me to be the best version of myself. I've gotten so much healthier and more active, but the best part is I have a forever family that will always be there for me no matter what. Aside from the weekly RunYogaBeer, I've attended two SYB adventures so far, one to Baja and another to Big Bear and both trips were so awesome and unbelievably fun. On both trips, there were yoga sessions, bootcamps, and loads of healthy foods to munch on at all times. I was able to meet people from all different walks of life and share experiences with so many amazing adrenaline junkies like me. I am counting down the days until I can go on my next SYB adventure! Nathan and his crew put in so much dedication, hard work and their whole hearts into SYB. It's their precious baby and I am so lucky to be a part of the journey. In the short amount of time, SYB has gone from a passion idea to a lifestyle movement that has touched so many people. I just signed up for the 10-week summer RunYoga Club for only $45!!! That's $4.50 a class...I mean seriously, does it get any better than that? Honestly though, there is no price tag you can put on being a part of a life-changing community of positive minds...real people who support you and are there for you, and push you to be the best you. You don't know how many times SYB has pulled me out of a crazy life funk in the short period I've known the tribe. I have made best friends that I will cherish for life and I truly thank SYB for that. If you haven't experienced SYB yet, PLEASE do yourself a favor and check it out. I never write yelp reviews, but I wanted to take the time to write a review about an organization that I feel has profoundly affected my life in a positive way. My first experience with SYB was a retreat to Nosara, Costa Rica in November 2015 for one week. On this trip, I experienced new adventures that I never thought I would, and I met a group of people who have become life long friends. On our trip to Costa Rica, we did yoga daily with our wonderful Y7 instructor, we surfed, paddle boarded, hiked to a waterfall, along with many other excursions. The best part of the day was always returning back to our home where we would all discuss the highlights of our day, while enjoying delicious, fresh meals. Anyone who is looking to experience adventure with an incredible group of people, I highly recommend SYB. Since returning to NYC from my trip, I have attended local SYB events like the Run Club and more Yoga events. Attending the SYB retreat was one of the best decisions of my life; I can't wait to sign up for another adventure. read more
