Avoid the goose poop (and the geese) and you'll have a lovely little park day! Movie nights every Wednesday night in the summer, blankets and games to rent from the kiosks, they have a new cafe stand. What used to be just a beautiful park with great views is getting better and better. Go, enjoy, relax!

If you're not into pot smoke and loud music, this might be more of a winter spot. Still has great waterfront scenery though.

I love that this pier exists! It gives me another place to take a gingerly stroll during my breaks from work. It's generally clean and serene.

Pier A Park is one of most beautiful parks with amazing views of Manhattan skyline by Hudson River. The ambiance is really cozy & relaxing and it is definitely one of the best spots in Hoboken. There is a huge & well-maintained open grass field in the middle of the park and it's perfect for picnic & gathering, especially during the pandemic. We enjoyed our time hanging there and will visit again if we are in the neighborhood.

Beautiful large park with lots of benches, lots of grass for picnicing or boss tossing. Great views of New York City and a nice area to just stroll around and enjoy the nature/breeze after walking down the streets of Hoboken. It's very close to the Hoboken train station. If you are in town, it's worth a quick (or not so quick) stroll around to enjoy the calmness that comes with the nature.

Large park with a phenomenal view of the NY skyline! People are surprisingly very good at adhering to the social distancing guidelines. Super calm. Super beautiful. Just beware it does get very chilly by the water!

Pier A Park is a park in Hoboken. It has great views of Manhattan. This is one of the parks along the Hudson River. It makes for a good stroll along. There are lots of good places to sit. It's easy to see Manhattan from here. In Hoboken there are a few parks along the river. This one is closest to Hoboken Terminal. It also has lots of green space, which is hard to find in this area. The majority of the parks seem to be huddled along the river. If you're in Hoboken you should walk along the river. It's easy to get to shops from here. There's many places to run or just sit.

Aside from it being FREEZING cold this was a super fun park. Nice huge open grass spaces, pleasant walking paths. Beautiful trees, and plenty of benches. There is a gondola at the end of the park and several guys were there fishing off the bank. We got some great shots of the tress as they were changing colors too. This park also has some amazing views of New York and when the sky is blue with white fluffy clouds everything just looks like it's going to be alright. This is a bit of a wind tunnel during the day and it was quite cold. But really a great spot to run, exercise, walk, layout, relax, and enjoy the scenery.

The best thing about this park is the cool fountain with benches set up around it. In the sweltering heat of summer the area around this fountain is nice and cool.

TL-DR: One of Hoboken's local retreats, offers a place to do your morning run, hang out with friends, do community events, fish, and not only enjoy Manhattan's skyline, but have fantastic pictures too! Stop on by if you're in the area, and spend some time if you're waiting for your next NJ Transit train/bus, ferry, or PATH train. A very overdue review on Yelp, but I think I'll stick around a while longer to contribute much more after a long break of absence! Hoboken's Pier A Park is one of the city's many parks, and one of several lining the Hudson Riverfront. It's fairly easy to get to, especially within the "Mile Square City". It's a short distance away from Hoboken Terminal and the ferry port / PATH station, off the bike path lining the river, and a short distance away from the downtown area. The whole park is slightly larger than one of Hoboken's city blocks, so there's definitely space for everyone. Being close to some of Hoboken's transit hubs, you won't run out of options on how to get here: several NJ Transit train routes, PATH's JSQ-HOB / HOB-33rd / HOB-WTC lines , several ferries going to/from NYC, local NJTransit buses, even a local Hudson Bike Share rental stop. Outside, the park offers a spacious, sprawling green field in the middle, surrounded by foot paths, with a gazebo in the east edge of the river. There's trees that in late spring/summer provide relief and shade for hot days. Since hours aren't listed, it's presumed this park is open 24/7 and public, but do exercise caution if you're going to be out late in the evening as always. Pier A Park, in my opinion, is maybe Hoboken's 2nd most important park in the city, with Sinatra Park a bit too the north being the best. Whereas that park has a soccer field, a restaurant, and an amphitheater, Pier A has almost the minimum to be considered a good park, and fortunately it's good enough for locals and tourists/visitors alike. A good place to do runs, family & friends hang out, a place to do photography or see NYC's skyline, fish, the works. Even in the summer and weather improves, you'll get more people outside, and possibly events too. I'm not certain if you can even bike here, but in my opinion I don't really see many bikers inside the park itself, since most of them use the dedicated bike path outside of the park. During winter/spring, you'll see a lot of waterfowl such as geese, seagulls, ducks that would be around the park premises and grazing on the field. It's not rare to see their... leavings, on the grass, so do keep in mind where you step on! For me personally, I do find myself going to Pier A plenty of times when I'm in Hoboken, rather than going with Sinatra Park a bit north. Sure, I would want more in this park, but at the same time, less is best. It's a place where I can snap good photos (& even better with a dedicated camera), relax, get to mingle with locals sometimes, and bide time waiting for late NJ Transit trains or PATH trains. Winters here can get grueling cold, summers sometimes scorching hot, not the place you'd want to be when it's raining a lot (the gazebo doesn't help sometimes). And as what most people are aware of, if you want a good view of Manhattan, you'll have to do it from Hoboken or Jersey City. In conclusion, Pier A Park fits in with the typical city park vibe, but offers a comfortable spacious environment to relax, and have fun close to the Hudson River. Sure, added features would help out, but stick with what has been great for the past few years. Hope to come back soon!

Movies Under the Stars at Pier A

Pier A park is a great part of Hoboken. Its iconic Manhattan skyline views probably rank in the top 5 vantage points. The fountain in the warmer months is beautiful. A good chuck of the grass area was removed about 7 years ago to plant about 50 ginko trees to remember Hoboken 9/11 victims, so you can't complain about that, but that area is missed. During June through August movies are shown every Wednesday night on one of those large inflatable screens. It's a great place to bring a blanket, some take-out dinner, and some clandestine wine, to enjoy a movie under the stars. Pier A is also great for people watching. From joggers and people doing yoga to people fishing, there's always something interesting to see.

a beautiful, spacious, clean park with great views. Perfect for lounging around, reading a book, sunbathing, strolling/running, picnics, etc. the park is peaceful and offers a fantastic view of the ny skyline across the river. Plenty of restaurants, bars, coffee shops in the surrounding areas as well.

Sometimes life gets so hectic that I don't stop and smell the roses. I find myself so focused on what's next or what I have to do later in the day to get one step closer to generational wealth that I just don't sit and enjoy the present moment. Pier C Park brought me straight back to present time. Standing on this little hill floating in the Hudson River, I could see the entire New York Skyline. A quote from one of my favorite books echoed between my ears: "I would give the greatest sunset in the world for one sight of New York's skyline...The sky over New York and the will of man made visible. What other religion do we need?" I tend to agree. I just sat here for a bit, smelling the roses for the first time in a while. How lucky am I to just sit here and be able to look at this? I walked onto a park built on a series of tulip shaped concrete columns rising from the river, and the structure itself was striking enough that the architecture became part of the experience rather than just the platform for it. The design is compact and the island is smaller than most first time visitors expect, but the thoughtfulness of the landscaping made the space feel fuller than its footprint suggests. I followed walking paths that wound through planted gardens, with seating areas distributed throughout. Two elevated hills at either end of the island offered different vantage points looking back at the skyline and out over the river. The Hudson River views were wide and unobstructed, and the perspective on the surrounding city from the water level was one I do not get from the street. Sunset is the most popular time to visit and draws the largest crowds. I came on a weekday morning, which gave me a more relaxed version of the park with better access to seating and a quieter atmosphere. Food trucks were present, and the proximity to Chelsea Market makes the surrounding area practical for extending the visit into a meal nearby. Admission is free and the park is accessible via ramps throughout. The small amphitheater hosts performances during the warmer months, which adds another reason to check what is scheduled before going. For a stop that requires no planning and delivers consistently, Little Island is one of the easier recommendations in the city.

Normally I'm rushing to make my train or rushing to make my dinner reservation from the train to Chelsea or the Village, etc. I found myself with a couple hours free recently as I was in between classes at Peloton studios and it was early (for me) in the morning, around 9 am. It was pleasantly empty (not enough to feel unsafe or anything) and I thoroughly enjoyed my long walk throughout, admiring buildings, admiring graffiti on buildings, peeking into apartment buildings-- you get my drift-- it's so different from walking on regular sidewalks. But what makes it surreal is all the greenery that surrounds you, allowing for an almost sylvan experience in the middle of the urban jungle. Last time I walked it, there were no vendors and now there are, so you can grab a snack, coffee, smoothie etc along the way. Because I'm a lifelong New Yorker, I couldn't help but wonder if rats make their way up here but I tried to put it out of my mind. Guess I can search reviews for sightings!

The…read moreHigh Line was originally an elevated freight rail line built in the 1930s to lift dangerous street-level train traffic (which had caused numerous pedestrian deaths) 30 feet above 10th Avenue. Trains carried meat, dairy, and produce until the 1960s decline; the last train ran in 1980, after which the structure sat abandoned. In 1999, local area residents started Friends of the High Line non-profit, dedicated to turning the freight rail into an elevated park-greenway, inspired by the Promenade Plantée in Paris. The resulting park's design and planning was carried out by James Corner Field Operations and Diller Scofidio + Renfro, along with Dutch planting designer Piet Oudolf. It opened in phases starting 2009. Over 210 plant species grew naturally on the tracks after trains stopped, and the design highlights this wild landscape with modern pathways and seating nestled into the greenery. The park features architectural elements like the Viewing Spur -- an observation area with bleacher-like seating -- plus seating areas and a rotating display of artworks by artists from around the globe. The High Line South (Gansevoort/Washington St.) ends at The Whitney Museum of American Art which was designed by Renzo Piano, and completed in 2015. The North (West 34th St.) ends at Hudson Yards, a mixed-use development, which includes an arts center, office park, luxury housing, and a high-end luxury mall. The trail is highly walkable, with alternating shadow and full sun areas, rest stops, and opportunities to admire not only the wild foliage and the art but also some exceptional buildings along the way, like the stunning Zaha Hadid's 520 West 28th Street building, celebrated for its unique, flowing curves, and other interesting landmarks. The day I was taking pictures was incredibly hot in NYC (around 100F)!
