Perfect lawn for frisbee or catch.
Isolina C.

This park is huge and has so much to offer. There's a huge play structure for kids of all ages. It was very packed on a Sunday afternoon so we headed to the open green lawn. It was a great place for my toddler boys to run around. There's gates all around which makes it safe (as long as they're closed). There's a cute "beachfront" with sand and lawn chairs which will be nice on a summer day. Wish there was more parking available.

Jersey City's own beach! (Really a kiddie beach)It's small but the views and the breeze are amazing. A great place to go during the middle of the week when's it's quiet and can grab a seat in the sand. The playground/park is very nice, perfect for small kids. Definitely a location to bring your kids to play with one of best views of NYC.

There are a ton of places to take your kids to relax and hang out. But this place takes the cake. Especially for a ridiculously hot Summer. It's free, it's comfortable to sit and relax. There are numerous attractions, food, bars, and coffee spots nearby. There is nothing like the sound of children laughing and enjoying themselves. This place will happily extract those sounds for you without breaking the bank.

Has lots of little activities for kids. My 5 year old had a good time.

This is my sons favorite park. We really like the water sprinklers it's a nice way to keep cool on hot days. The kids play area is very nice, theres different areas for different interests. We also really like being able to look out at the water, theres even a small sand (beach) area where you can lay or sit. The beach area is very small. The down part is it's very hard to find parking. I see alot of bicyclists, and people walking their dogs, so far it's been a nice clean park.

This is a wonderful little space across from Target/behind the Morton Williams shopping area. From the Target lot, you'd barely know it was there. I'm a little hesitant to mention it myself because I don't want it overrun by annoying hoards of idiots, but hey, some of you might not fall into that category. There is a playground for the kids with big sprinklers, a grassy lawn, and a man-made "beach" which is super small, but gets the job done. It is adjacent to the Riverwalk and a five-minute walk from the Newport PATH/light rail stations, so it's easily accessible for all. I went yesterday afternoon and the "beach" area was barely occupied, so I parked myself under an umbrella, opened a book, and took in the awesome view of the Hudson and the city. I assume if there are strict rules about pets, that there must be strict rules about alcohol, but if someone can clarify that, it would be much appreciated.

Who know??????? The Newport area has a beach front that overlooks NY....that right; Jersey City is really doing it up. First time going was during the Labor Day weekend with family. It was not very crowded due to people traveling over the holiday weekend. I guess that's what made it more delighting for me.....not a lot of people around. The serenity of this place really gave us an opportunity to take in the sand, views, and each other. Here you can bring your little ones to play in the sand instead of going to the Jersey Shore...if you just want a quick fix. They also have a playground for the kids to run around in the water, on the swing set, monkey bars, etc. There is also other green space for you to lounge, throw a Frisbee, play soccer, or just walk along the walking path that is there. You are near everything, Target, Newport Mall, PATH, Restaurants and Living space. Here you have everything at your figure tips. That's what makes it so marvelous for Jersey City and those who are able to partake in the habitat.

Great piece for anyone's backyard... lol...seriously...

Absolutely amazing little paradise for kids overlooking NYC. A park for kids that have swings, sprinkling water and slides. Located in Newport NJ, it just doesn't get better. They also have a nice carousel for I believe a $1 a ride. Parking all throughout the streets at the cost of $0.25 for every 10 Mins. Feet away from the playground you have a great seating area with sand on the ground Adirondack chairs and umbrellas which is about as close as to a beach you will get in this area but so satisfying with the view of NYC. Now the only downside is there are no bathrooms so a trip to Target across the way might be necessary. I just hope the people who go here will learn to appreciate this little paradise and keep the MONSTERS out (and I mean in terms of disorderly grown ups)..or at least tamed while here. P.s. - make sure you get back to your car parked at the meters. They will ticket you and place a boot on your wheels.

When the heck did they build and open this place? The portion of the boardwalk between Newport & Hoboken has been closed for such a long time that I never ventured to this side until two weeks ago. The park is just across the Target parking lot. The area near the main street is a little noisy what with all the cars. But it's a nice bit of green amidst all the buildings in Newport. It even has a track for joggers. The park extends further toward the board walk. There's a little play area for kids and even a carousel! The beach/sandy area has beach umbrellas, lounge chairs; nice spot to relax and take in the views of the city.

NYC Sunrise from Newport Green

Great place to catch the sunrise, and yes there is a beach. It doesn't rival the Jersey shore, but kind of novel to have sand in Jersey City. The early morning views of the city are second to none. Get there 45 minutes before sunrise and enjoy the next hour. Amazing.

What better place to go than Liberty State Park. I have been here a few times in the past when I lived in the area. I actually played in a college baseball game back in the late 80's when they had a field here. Well, the field is long gone and the park is run by the US Park Service. It's a well maintained facility and provides great views of Lower Manhattan, Jersey City, Downtown Brooklyn, Ellis Island, Lady Liberty and the lower Hudson Bay. Fun fact, the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island are in New Jersey geographically. I was here for a little over an hour before it got hot. I walked about 2.5 miles from the parking lot to the shore line and south to the end. It was nice break. And by the way, parking is free and there are bathrooms on site.

We parked at one lot and then drove over to another lot to be able to see Lady Liberty. Loved that there were plenty of benches to sit and enjoy the view and sounds. There was a strong police presence (while not excessive) so it just felt safer. Side note: I really wish you could walk or ride over to visit Ellis Island from the park since there's a narrow bridge that crosses over, but it's not possible.

Sometimes life gets so hectic that I don't stop and smell the roses. I find myself so focused on what's next or what I have to do later in the day to get one step closer to generational wealth that I just don't sit and enjoy the present moment. Pier C Park brought me straight back to present time. Standing on this little hill floating in the Hudson River, I could see the entire New York Skyline. A quote from one of my favorite books echoed between my ears: "I would give the greatest sunset in the world for one sight of New York's skyline...The sky over New York and the will of man made visible. What other religion do we need?" I tend to agree. I just sat here for a bit, smelling the roses for the first time in a while. How lucky am I to just sit here and be able to look at this? I had no real purpose in my life other than writing these silly reviews in the morning before work. I don't even know why I love it so much, but I do. It's my little creative outlet. This passion for writing slowly trickled to a passion for making videos. So, at the beginning of this year, I made an agreement with myself that I would shoot, edit, and post between 150-200 videos no matter what. I don't care what thoughts were inevitably going to creep in to try and talk me out of it, I'm doing this. Kobe Bryant, my childhood hero, put it best when he said "I'm not negotiating with myself. The deal has already been made. I signed that contract with myself. I'm doing it." All this to say, I've been on an absolute SPRINT this year. I'm exhausted and drained, but it's been worth it. I started the year with 5,101 followers, and today (Aug 6th) I have 75.5k. I hate judging things off of follower counts, but it is the best metric to depict what success looks like doing this. This past Sunday I was damn near bed ridden sick, but I heard Kobe's voice in my head so I dragged myself out of bed to Hoboken to go do another video. I got off the Path train and started walking, when I turned my head to the right and saw one of the most beautiful views I've seen this year at Pier A Park. A huge grassy plain, with a full view of the New York City Skyline from nose to tail across the Hudson River. It felt like a green screen. It made me pause and be present for the first time in awhile. I've been running so fast at this goal that I haven't really appreciated the journey at all, but this view forced me to stop and smell the roses. I just sat here for 30 minutes thinking "damn life is so beautiful and human beings are amazing." It reminds me of that allegory in the Alchemist when the wise man tells a boy to go explore all the marvels of a magnificent palace, but instructs him to carry a spoon with two drops of oil without spilling any. The first time he comes back with all the oil but misses all the beauty of the palace. The 2nd time he comes back having seen everything there is to see, but has no oil in the spoon. The wiseman concludes by saying "The secret of happiness is to see all the marvels of the world, and never forget the drops of oil on the spoon." You're probably like wtf is wrong with this guy hijacking this review of Pier A park to trauma dump, and that's fair. I'm a little crazy for sure. Shoutout to Pier A park though. It's nice to stop and smell the roses every once in a while. IG @jnov_ Tiktok @jnov__

I walked onto a park built on a series of tulip shaped concrete columns rising from the river, and the structure itself was striking enough that the architecture became part of the experience rather than just the platform for it. The design is compact and the island is smaller than most first time visitors expect, but the thoughtfulness of the landscaping made the space feel fuller than its footprint suggests. I followed walking paths that wound through planted gardens, with seating areas distributed throughout. Two elevated hills at either end of the island offered different vantage points looking back at the skyline and out over the river. The Hudson River views were wide and unobstructed, and the perspective on the surrounding city from the water level was one I do not get from the street. Sunset is the most popular time to visit and draws the largest crowds. I came on a weekday morning, which gave me a more relaxed version of the park with better access to seating and a quieter atmosphere. Food trucks were present, and the proximity to Chelsea Market makes the surrounding area practical for extending the visit into a meal nearby. Admission is free and the park is accessible via ramps throughout. The small amphitheater hosts performances during the warmer months, which adds another reason to check what is scheduled before going. For a stop that requires no planning and delivers consistently, Little Island is one of the easier recommendations in the city.
