I took my kids up to Pismo Beach for chowder and had to stop by Pier Gifts. My parents used to bring me in for souvenirs whenever we visited Pismo and now my daughters love Pier Gifts as much as I did and still do. There is a huge variety of unique items in addition to Pismo Beach themed souvenirs and beachwear. We picked up some beautiful quilled paper greeting cards, cute stickers, and hoodies when the temperature suddenly dropped. I had to rush out for an appointment before I could look through their seashells. It's a 4 hrs drive to get here so I called when we got back home to see if they could ship some seashells to me. I spoke to Minh who was so helpful in putting together a special package of shells to send me. This is such a quaint little shop that's filled with interesting curios and knicknacks. The staff is super friendly and it's easy to lose track of time when there's so much fun stuff to choose from. I love that my daughters will also have great memories of shopping at Pier Gifts. I was looking for a Highway 101 or Highway 1 sign to add to my collection of signs, so I thought I'd give this store a try. I couldn't find either of the signs I wanted, but did buy a neat Pismo Beach surfboard sign and a Pismo Beach t-shirt. I loved the variety of signs, apparel, and Pismo memorabilia they offered and the friendliness of their staff. I'll probably come back the next time I'm in the area. read more

The staff here was friendly. They had good sales on souvenirs, got a shot glass for $3 and a seashell for $3. They have a lot of cute stuff there. They have a necklace, bracelet, and keychain locket where you can add charms to. I loved it but they cost $18-23 and the charms are $5 for each one. I stopped in for a postcard and some sweatpants since it was way colder than I expected. They didn't have my size on the rack but the girl working offered to check in the back for me and found the exact size and color I wanted! Really appreciated that. Also liked that they sold stamps here so I could mail out my postcards from the other stops on my road trip. Everything was a great price. TERRIBLE ! DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY HERE ! The women with slicked back bun who is older then sand is rude ! My 3 kids, husband and I were waiting outside for 10 minutes before the place opened because my children were excited to buy souvenirs for their grandmother. She opened the door placed the mat down and said okay. No welcome. My son also picked up a stuffed shark and was walking around the store with it because HE WANTED IT AND WE WERE GOING TO BUY IT FOR HIM ! He is not a baby carrying around a stuffed animal because he sees it and wants it. HE IS TEN YEARS OLD ! He is a big kid. The woman took it upon herself to walk up to him and confront him. Asking him if he was going to buy it. I was behind her and heard her so I said yes is that okay with you ? She said yeah and walked away. This is by far my FAVORITE local gift and souvenir shop!!! They have killer prices, which is good for all of us locals who could use a break on the prices in this popular vacation spot we call home. I found one of those ripcord survival bracelets for $1.95 which all the other places I went to in downtown Pismo had them for $9.95 and up. Same quality, but much better price!!! I was helped by Angela who was very nice~she even had a doggy treat and fresh water for my pup who was with me. ANY store who is pet friendly has my business for sure. When my family and I were waiting outside of the store for about 10 mins because of the maximum capacity, the sales associate avoided us. After leaving the store we then saw the same associate giving customers that were waiting in line for approx. 3 minutes being given coupons for the restaurant across the street. Yes, I concur with the other yelper that a sales person was extremely rude. She stared at us acting as if we were going to steal something. I should have gotten her name - older white thinner of the two ladies. I had my great-nephew there who has a beautiful darker complexion and the lady glared at him like he was different - in a not so good way. I did end up buying a couple of gifts for the kids and the same sales person did not even thank us for coming in and spending our money. I guess you can't expect great service everywhere. I simply think that people need to be more open and courteous, especially as a sales person in a gift shop. Food for thought for the owners of this store: You need to hire better workers. read more

Best gift shop in Pismo!! Whether you have $5 or $500 they have something for you. I got an octopus wine decanter that holds the wine glasses in its tentacles. Beautiful and very reasonably priced. I am a Customer Service Instructor so I tend to expect more than most in this regard and even though it was very busy, everyone that helped me was excellent. Nikki in particular was very welcoming and helpful. Even when an employee caught a mother using her baby stroller to shoplift they were kind and cordial when asking her to leave.
