Zero stars. Used to live about an hour away and would visit every so often. Loved it!! Have looked forward to going back ever since moving away. had the time to make a visit tonight. Checked hours to make sure we had enough time before kitchen closed. Did the hour drive, walked in at 7:15p greeted by an employee who told us "I know it looks busy, but we closed our kitchen 20 minutes ago". Mind you, there is still food coming out of the window next to me, watched it be put up in the window by the kitchen and all. Not exactly what the discrepancy is here, but my party and I were Severely disappointed and wish the establishment would clearly post kitchen closing hours to outlets like Google and Yelp to prevent these kinds of things from happening to others. Sorry Pig minds, loved ya before but not after this and won't be trying again next time I'm around. Too bad. Pretty cool environment and the menu is unique! We weren't aware it was a vegan restaurant, but the food we had was all really good. The only thing that made it a somewhat unenjoyable experience was the service. Our bartender was short with us, rude, and seemed annoyed when we asked questions about the menu and beer. It was not terribly busy and there didn't seem to be a reason she couldn't pay us more attention. She stood there and giggled for ten minutes talking to men picking up beer, but ignored people actually eating and drinking at the bar. Working in the food industry for twelve years and knowing what good service looks and feels like, I felt it was worth writing a review. She by far is a disservice to the brewery :( read more

Here is a fun fact: we had no idea this place was vegan until after we ate and paid the bill!!! Bahahaha!! So I guess this is to their credit. And this also explains how tired we were that day. We were cruising through on our RV adventure and I think I picked the closest brewery with food. The beer was delicious. Their IPA was real good and hoppy. For food we has the "chicken" wings and some truffle fries! All delicious. I would highly recommend this stop for the anyone...meat or non meat love it's good shit. read more

Absolutely gorgeous patio... that was unfortunately full when we arrived. We asked to be next to be seated outside, but that never happened. Wait staff was extremely slow to begin with. Our waiter then changed, and the second one was much better. I think the operation of the place could be much smoother, and would make it 5 stars. They had staff standing around while we waited forever just for our order to be put in. That being said, our food was very good. I definitely recommend the Reuben and their burgers. If this restaurant/brewery was located in a bigger city I would probably give 3 stars, but I'm throwing in an extra star since options in the Rockford area are not great. Great concept. Good beer. Vegan food that is above average. However, be prepared to wait quite a while for your food (the beer can help pass the time). During my visit management at least acknowledged the LONG wait for the food, but feedback from others I know who have eaten here say that waiting a long time for food is a regular occurrence. As long as you know what your getting into, this is a solid option for the area. read more

Even though I'm not vegan, I was still able to enjoy it here. We split some non meat apps-sweet potato fries and chocolate cake, which both tasted very good. It's actually not that big of a deal, as so many popular appetizers you'd see at a brewery don't involve meat/dairy anyways. Obviously the beer isn't affected by them being vegan, and all their beer that I tried were good-Death Grip, Mike Squared, and Splash Zone (I love pale ales in case you couldn't tell) Cool vibe inside, our server was nice. If you're visiting Rockford it's worth checking this place out as it's just north of the city. They also sell bombers/growlers to go and I got their red ale to go as a gift, only $7 not bad. Beer flights for $15 is not bad at all. I get to taste 10 different kinds of beers they brew at the location. My wife ordered the "Impossible" Patty Melt and I ordered the "Impossible" Cheeseburger. We liked it but we prefer the real thing. The fries were good. The place is nice. If you're expecting a sports bar type, you'll be mistaken. They've one TV, that I saw, when we went. Literally blown away by this find. Showed up at noon when they opened and went straight out to the patio with my pup. Not only did Jenna bring her a water bowl she was very attentive to us humans. I had the buffalo cauliflower, sweet hot Brussels and blt quinoa bowl and I would recommend all of them. Wish I had room for the ice cream! When we told them that, they gave us a little container to take home, and we still licked off the bowl. And it's not just the Brussel Sprouts: we enjoyed everything we ate so much, that we came back for dinner on the same day. We also tried their BBQ sandwich, mac & cheeze, nachos, asian chikin wrap, and avocado tacos. You can taste that the food was fresh and good quality. My husband was over the moon about the beer menu. He's an IPA fan, and these did it for him. We live an hour away but make a trip at least once a month! We love everything about Pig Minds - excellent, delish plant based food that is not only very tasty but also creative ideas (Steak Taco Salad Mac & Cheese! Chicago Style Hot Dog Pizza!). My husband and son are true carnivores but they absolutely love Pig Minds as much as I do. My son's favorite is the Reuben. He says it tastes better than a meat-based version. We also love the sweet potato curry fries, stuffed jalapenos, quinoa bowls, pretty much everything, including the great desserts. My husband enjoys the craft beers; many varieties and the very reasonably priced sampler has served him well. I enjoy the cocktails, most recently the Peach Mule. Super delish! Can't wait for their Oktoberfest menu next month. :) :) :) read more

Vegan brewery?! I've never heard of that before...but it was fantastic! The nachos were delicious and contained no form of dairy; it blew my mind. I cannot believe the "sour cream" was made of cashews and not actual cream. I then tried the korean BLT which was delicious. The vegan meat tasted good and the flavors that were developed on the sandwich were excellent. The sweet potato fries were the best! The broccolini was also cooked very well, however, since real butter wasn't used you could definitely taste the margarine/fake flavor. It did not taste bad at all but it just worth noting. The wife and I were in Rockford to See Sebastian Maniscalco (Awesome by the way) for her birthday. I got a hotel and was searching for vegan options in downtown Rockford or slightly around. My wife found this on an expanded search. It was about 20 minutes from the theater, which seemed a bit far, but we had time so we went. As we were driving there I thought they gave me the wrong address. It was on what appears to be a long dark side street in an industrial area. What can I say......this place is awesome. The inside has an industrial look, great art and a great vibe. Despite being packed, we got a 2 top right away. There was a live musician playing one great acoustic tune after the other. I loved that. Not too loud where we had to yell over it where we were sitting. perfect. I'm not much of a beer guy, but when at a place like this I will order one for sure. I got a pint of the vanilla bitch slap. Wow. Delicious. The whole menu looked great. Being a plant based eater, I typically only have an option or 2 at most restaurants. In this case I had a whole menu to choose from. We sat close to the kitchen and saw one amazing looking dish after another come out. Everything we got was so flipping good. My only problem was the inability to try more food. I seriously wanted to try most of the menu. I am disappointed that this place is not closer to my house. (Almost 2 hours) I would be a regular here for sure. In fact when we sat down the waiter thought I was a regular. Ha. Nice guy and great server. My son has soccer tournaments. I went with my wife and kids after a visit to the Illinois Railway Museum about 40 minutes east in Union. We had high expectations based on some reviews my wife had read and they were all met. The service was outstanding. We came in the back half of the lunch rush and the server immediately let us know the kitchen was backed up, which we appreciated with small children. We ordered an appetizer right away to keep the small humans happy, and they clearly expedited became it showed up five minutes later. The kids played at the table whole I enjoyed a beer with regular check-ins from our server to make sure we were ok. If I wasn't worried about being functional I would have gotten the flight, which is an amazing value (10 5 oz pours for $15). Our food arrived when promised and everything was excellent. We will absolutely be back when we are in the area. My wife and I both agreed this is our favorite vegan restaurant (and she is vegan, so we go to many of them). We just wish it was closer to Chicago, but maybe it will give us a good excuse to have a night away in Rockford or Janesville! read more

We waited until 6:40 p.m., and were never offered water, a menu or had anyone even come to our table to see what we were there for. My husband went inside and asked if we were supposed to order inside and a young man snapped at him to "Give us a minute and someone will come out" - no one ever did, so we left. There was a server outside where we were sitting, but he never even acknowledged us. Super disappointed as we were really looking forward to trying a new place we had never been. When we were leaving the hostess that previously told us where to sit for the live comedy/music, asked if we were unable to find a place to sit. We told her we found a place to sit but no one ever came to wait on us so we were leaving. She didn't try to resolve the issue or get us to stay. Definitely one of the most unique breweries I've been to, to date. The menu is 100% vegan. I have no problem with that, as I eat almost everything. But I assumed my carnivorous, won't-touch-a-salad-or-I-might-die husband would shun the menu and thus his caloric intake would have to be in liquid form. But, it was my birthday. And being the birthday girl, I requested to stop here at the end of a brewery-filled day. And so it was. As usual, we bellied up to the bar. We attempted to order our first choices, but they were out. Same with our back up selections. It was frustrating but it WAS labor day weekend. The bartender stated that they were slammed Friday and Saturday, so I can't complain on the lack of beer availability. During our visit, we tried: Vanilla Bitch Slap (American Amber Red Ale), Happy Daze (fruit beer brewed with blueberries), Double Bitch Slap (Imperial Double/red ale), Farm On (saison), Oktoberfest (märzen), and Southy Bitch Slap (American Amber Red Ale). We've also had their Joe Daddy (stout) which is exceptional. Natch, we became hungry. I chose a buffalo chicken (chikin?) flatbread, which was AMAZING! Hubs chose the Buffalo Chikin wrap, but somehow ended up with an Asian wrap instead. He didn't complain and tried to eat it but was disappointed, so we shared my flatbread. The fries that accompanied his wrap were pretty dang good. The service wasn't bad, could have been a bit better but it wasn't a deal breaker. The space was clean, and there's plenty of room, both inside and out. It was great to finally check them out. I'd probably stop again if I'm in the area. read more
