His prices are about average for Martha's Vineyard (let's face it, everything's expensive here). I then had it towed to cape cod truck. They took it in and spent several days on it. I finally went to pick it up and was charged just under 1300.00 dollars. He said they had a hard time and even put 2 guys on it. I knew I was being ripped off because I was not a resident. Paid the bill and left. One month later new starter died. Had towed to a reputable trusted mechanic. I told him my story. His response was as follows 1. Replacing starter was 320.00 parts and labor. 2. He had just replaced a starter with the same problem and charged an extra 100.00 for a total of 420.00 3. He said there is no way it requires 2 people as there is barely room for one mechanic to work on it. 4 Starter installed was a piece of junk Obviously the took advantage of my vacationing what this idiot is to stupid to realize is it hurts the reputation of businesses in the area. I will never spend anything in cape cod again. His lousy reputation reflects on other local businesses which hurts them. This is why Massachusetts residents like this are often referred as Massholes. We were visiting Martha's Vineyard for the first time this week. We only had 1 overnight on the…read moreisland. About 1/2 hour off the ferry and my car broke down on the side of the road. AAA took about 2 hours to arrive due to a very busy day, but they recognized that our potential issue would need serious work so he called around to find a shop willing to review/repair our car quickly. They called Courtesy Motors (second phone call) and even though Courtesy was about to close, the owner Larry was willing to stay past closing in order to await our arrival. Once there, he and one of his mechanics determined that the water pump (and related belt issue) was gone on our car and he immediately started phoning for the replacement part in order to get our car fixed as quickly as possible. The price was higher than at home in Central MA, but considering our location and the expedited nature of having the part delivered in order to do our repair, the price was reasonable. I would highly recommend this shop.
