I was from out of town, in my 2005 Yukon transporting 7 friends all over MV for the weekend. OMG oil leaking , spraying my back windshield. Its Friday, what to do? Found Bruce cleaning up at the end of his busy week. This delightful positive, KNOWEDGEABLE young man, dropped to his knees checked source of the vehicle leak, pronounced it safe, come back Tuesday to top off differential oil and have it fixed on the mainland. Saved my weekend. But by Monday, i had another problem with noise by drivers side front wheel. Now i have 6 people counting on this old and rusted vehicle to get us to beach, sightsee, go fishing and we are all worried. I pull in to see Bruce's smiling face, jacks up the car pulls off a rusted wheel gaurd which he tells me are just a bother, tops off my dif oil and waves good bye.. When I initiate a roadside service call from AAA I know I'll be getting Pilgrim Auto. This same guy has been giving me gas in the middle of nowhere and jump starts on Martha's Vineyard for 13 years. If you get roadside service at night do not be scared by his crazy lighted up modded monster car thingy, or his spider tattoos. Old-fashioned friendly service. I was on MV for vacation and my spare tire under-mount came loose and the spare was swinging under the car. None of the filling stations in Edgartown had a mechanic so I searched and found Pilgrim Road Auto Repair. I drove up and parked and met Bruce who was in the shop. He came out and crawled down under the car, diagnosed the problem immediately, and started working to fix in immediately. He had to remove a bolted on bike rack to get to the correct area to winch the tire back into position, which he did. Then he re-installed the bike rack and it was as good as new in 20 mins. He refused to take any payment for the work. I promised to write a positive review, so here's to you Bruce! read more

Only auto shop open on Black Friday, came in with a nail in our tire and they patched it right up. Thanks guys!

Avoid at all costs. I was staying on the island with a friend, whose car broke down. Her parents got in touch with the owner/manager of this repair shop on a Friday evening, who assured her that it would be the #1 priority upon opening at 9 am the following Monday. They quoted about an hour of labor to replace a battery, and then we'd be on the road. Come Monday, the shop doesn't answer their phone. We head over about 10 am, and the entire shop is closed- 0 sign of life. We try again at noon- still no one. They finally call her back in the late afternoon saying that it'd be available for pick up between 6 and 7 pm that evening. NO APOLOGIES. We head over at 6:30 pm and the guy is completely unconcerned with the fact that they'd previously said that the car would be ready first thing. Eight hundred plus dollars later, we finally drove off. read more

Pilgrim Road Auto Repair shop saved our vacation by going the extra mile, unlike the six other mechanic shops I previously visited. Our family was renting a house on the island for the week. Our daughters started school that following Monday and both my wife and I had to go back to work that Monday as well. Unfortunately, the airmatic suspension gave out on our Mercedes in the middle of the week making the car dangerous to drive and potentially causing further severe damage to the frame of the car. I went to several shops, only to be told that they do not work on Mercedes and gave me a referral to a foreign European car autoshop. To my surprise, shop worked on BMW and other foreign cars but not Mercedes. After visiting a few more shops, I was told to go see Larry who is knows as the "Mercedes expert" on the island. My brief moment of excitement quickly faded away when Larry told me he only works on old Mercedes and was not up to date with all the computer technologies in the newer models. At this point, I went home to break the bad news to the family that we would have to cut our vacation short. My wife insisted on calling a few more shops before we pack. On the second call, Pilgrim told us bring the car down to the shop. Soon as we brought the car to Pilgrim auto repair shop, the mechanic identified the problem and stated he can fix it. Again, our excitement was cut short when he told us the parts had to be ordered from Mercedes in RHODE ISLAND and soonest it will arrive is Monday. Pilgrim listened to our desperate plea and made some calls and was able to arrange a pickup/delivery of parts from the Rhode Island Mercedes winthin 24 hours for an additional reasonable fee. Our car rode smooth for the rest of the vacation and beyond! read more

Waited 3 hours, finally called AAA and was told to leave key in the visor and leave car. 5 minutes after that, received call from tow guy that he could not get the jeep out, that it was blocked. Waste of my day and car is still where it broke down. Have always waited for hours in the past. Unfortunately, this is the only AAA towing company on Martha's Vineyard. read more

PILGRAM AUTO IS THE WORST!!!!!! I am somewhat new to the island. I was having car troubles so I brought my car to pilgram auto to have repairs done, he still has not made the necessary repairs. He has been jerking me around since April telling me lies that he's been "sick" or "off island". It is almost October now and have not heard from him in weeks. I have left him over 50 missed calls.
