Having used Pillar and Post in the past, we did not hesitate to contact them again, this time in a different state. While Ron was professional and came quickly, he was very limited in what he would do or say. For example, when asked if the oil tanks were rusty, he replied that he could not see them, so couldn't say. Our realtor, bent over and looked and was able to see they were not rusty. We paid an extra fee for termites. He saw "evidence that they had been there" but wouldn't say if they were active. We had to pay another inspector to come out and tell us it was inactive, and had been painted over years before. read more

We had lived in NY for less than a year when we decided to buy a house. We were very anxious about our first home-buying experience and the things that may be wrong with the house. On the day of inspection, Ron arrived earlier and had already started inspecting the surroundings of the house when we arrived. He was very focused on his work and asked us to join him after he had finished the outside area. He had caught every little detail about the house and gave us an overview of the things that needed immediate attention as well as our future maintenance tasks. I had some concerns about the humidity in the unfinished basement. Ron spent more than 2 hours analyzing every corner of the basement; he found water leakage in the crawl space around the basement and noted many other areas of improvement. After 5 hours of detailed inspection, when he was almost done with the entire house, he suspected an issue with the vent fan in one of the bathrooms and went back up to the attic to re-analyze the situation. Having walked us through the outside and inside of the house, he then summarized everything into two categories: things that require immediate attention; and ones that can be addressed later. I can't thank him enough for giving us such great peace of mind about our first house buying experience. He is incredibly knowledgeable and experienced; at the same time, he devoted a lot of attention to every detail. After the inspection, he sent us his detailed report (86 pages) that covered all of his observations. I learned many new things from Ron; some were specific to our house and other things that could potentially come up in the future. We highly recommend Ron's expertise for general and structural house examinations as well as termite, radon, and mold inspections. I am a first time buyer currently living in NYC but looking to buy an apartment in Weschester area. My agent recommended me to schedule an inspection with Ron and I'm so glad he did! I contacted Ron on a Sunday and he got back to me right away saying he would be able to conduct the inspection the next day. Ron came to the appointment on time and was very professional. He did a thorough inspection and took the time to carefully look at the building itself from the outside (walls, etc) and at everything in the apartment (floor, electrical system, appliances,...). During the inspection, Ron clearly explained to me what he was checking and why and he patiently answered all my questions. He also took a number of photos that he included in the final report he gave me (later that day!), something that I found very useful to have. Ron identified an issue (dryer's vent placed in the attic instead of outside of the building) and thanks to him I was able to request and obtain a $1,000 credit from the sellers to fix the problem. Ron also found the apartment's electrical board to be outdated with a couple of potential safety issues. He told me what needed to be done to address these issues and be safe at home. Ron clearly knows what he is talking about and you feel that he really wants to help you. I learned a lot during his inspection. At the end of the inspection, he handed me a binder containing some information and recommendations on the different things to check in your new home on a monthly basis. If I ever need another inspection to be done in the future, I will have no hesitation asking Ron to take care of it. Having such a professional take care of this important step in home purchase gave me piece of mind and I now feel much more confident than I was before the inspection. read more
