Glenn Helder Home Inspection Service - Preparing for a Home Inspection in Huntington, NY 11743

    Glenn Helder Home Inspection Service

I HIGHLY recommend Glenn Helder Home Inspection to anyone looking to get an inspection done. We…read morefound Glenn through yelp and saw he had a bunch of positive reviews and decided to work with Glenn to get an inspection done on our first potential home. Glenn is professional, knowledgeable, friendly, and was extremely diligent in performing the home inspection as well as breaking things down for me along the way to make sure I understood everything he was telling me. We are very thankful to Glenn who put together a 40+ page detailed home inspection report for us to review. We were extremely happy we went with Glenn and are appreciative of the service he provided!

As someone making the second home purchase of my life, I can honestly say I barely remember the…read moreinspection for my first home--but I won't forget this one. Glenn Helder is a true professional who raises the bar for what a home inspection should be. From the moment he arrived, his thoroughness and calm, pleasant demeanor made me feel confident I was in expert hands. His responsiveness leading up to the inspection and quick turnaround on the final report were also a breath of fresh air during a fast-moving process. But what truly stood out was Glenn's sage and honest advice. He identified major short-term costs that I hadn't initially factored in--costs that would have been financially and emotionally taxing had I gone forward blindly. Thanks to his insight, I was able to walk away from a potentially burdensome purchase. Beyond that, Glenn provided thoughtful recommendations for long-term upgrades and preventative fixes that felt more like guidance from a seasoned contractor than a typical home inspector. His depth of knowledge went well beyond a checklist and truly felt like a partnership. If you're looking for someone who takes pride in his work, communicates clearly, and genuinely cares about his clients' well-being, Glenn is your guy. I'd recommend him a hundred times over.

So we, of course, had zero idea of what to expect during the walk-through inspection (that was scheduled last minute.) Not only was Vinny incredibly accommodating, but he was also very communicative. He arrived early for the inspection, and as soon as I met him, I immediately felt comfortable with his calm and personable/welcoming demeanor. He was incredibly thorough throughout the whole process. Checked things I would never have thought to check and encouraged us to ask all and every question that came to mind. As soon as he'd see something that immediately concerned him or something that could potentially become a problem years from now, he'd voice his thoughts to us. Considering this is a new construction, we were a bit surprised with the amount of things that needed fixing--nothing serious, primarily cosmetic. The following day we received his report exactly when he said he'd send it. It was very detailed and also included photos of his findings. The report is straightforward and easy to comprehend, even for those of us with zero experience. And of course, this all transpired while adhering to COVID-19 guidelines. Overall, we are very impressed with Vinny's professionalism, patience, and attention to detail. I cannot recommend him and his services enough. Thank you, Vinny!

Inspecticore - After the mold remediation contractor removed the wall. Whole wall needs to be replaced and it has water, mold and termite damage

    Inspecticore

Inspecticore was amazing. I've seen inspections from other companies and they don't compare to…read moreinspecticore. Their CRM is incredible. I was an hour's drive from the house. Came 1/2 an hour early because I was worried about traffic. Met Austin my inspector, and he was incredible. 1/2 an hour before the inspection was supposed to start, he had a drone on his car ready to take off to inspect the roof. Not every company uses drones, and it lets the inspector see everything. We finished the inspection at 6PM and we had the inspection at 10PM that night. The turn around time was AMAZING. I could not ask anything more from an inspector!!!

In my lifetime I have purchased four houses, and I can say with unfiltered clarity and certainty…read morethat the inspection by Inspecticore Inc. on August 21, 2026 was the worst one ever. To start, Inspecticore charged a whopping $1,209 for the inspection -- 72% more than the next highest quote of $700 that I had received for the same job. We went with Inspecticore because we were in a time crunch, they came highly recommended by our realtor, and the home inspector that I had used in the past had retired. Although the price tag is eye-watering, it is not the reason for the negative review, since I am okay with paying more money for superior service or knowledge. And that is where Inspecticore failed miserably. The home inspector from Inspecticore spent more time telling us what wasn't covered for our $1,209 fee than what was. Any time I asked the inspector if he was going to look at something, the answer inevitably was, "oh, that's not within the scope of the inspection." The items outside of the scope of our $1,209 home inspection included: (1) the in-ground sprinkler system; (2) appliances such as the washing machine and the wine refrigerator; (3) termite / wood-destroying insects; (4) the attic or anything in it. As stated earlier, in the home inspections of the three other homes that I have purchased in my life, all included these items and all cost far less. In this particular case, the wine refrigerator was inoperative. Even worse, on the night that we moved into the house, we ran a cleaning cycle through the clothes washing machine to clean the tub. When we returned to check on it, we found the laundry room flooded. We spent the next hour cleaning up the water in the laundry room instead of eating dinner. The next day we went shopping for a new washing machine. Just the thing you don't want to do in the first 24 hours of home ownership. We had such low confidence in Inspecticore that we began checking things ourselves. Again, not something I expected with a $1,209 price tag. The in-ground sprinkler system is one of the easiest things to check and I have never seen a home inspector other than Inspecticore say that it is outside of the scope of the inspection. We checked it ourselves and thankfully it was in good working order. But I didn't pay a 72% premium to check things myself. Similarly, based on my experience with prior home inspections, the inspector may not be an expert in wood-destroying insects, but in the past they have always identified in their report whether or not there appears to be evidence of wood-destroying insects. Not Inspecticore. With them, it's simply outside of the scope, so if you want to know, you can go spend more money. Their inspection report is very pretty, so if you like paying more money for things that are pretty but lack substance, you can throw your hard-earned money at them and they will happily take it, probably while telling you, "oh, no, that's outside the scope." This company is in business not because they are good, but because they have over-charged enough schmucks (of which I am now one) to cover their overhead. Don't be a schmuck like me. Just stay away. In closing, I should note that when the company called me for a customer satisfaction survey and I told them about my experience, all they could say was "I'm sorry". Not, "let us do something to make it right" or "how can we fix this". Just "I'm sorry", which I found out is not accepted as currency at P.C. Richards when buying a new washing machine.
