We stopped here to charge our electric vehicle while passing through. The chargers are not well maintained and onw was fully out of service and not working which was a bummer. The interior is a little disorganized and dirty, but not disgusting. read more

Plus, nature was calling and a cup of coffee for the road sounded good. I was travelling home from Iowa City where I spent a couple wonderful days at the University as a member of one of the College of Engineering Alumni Advisory Boards. I don't get excited about gas stations, but the truck stop varieties always special. Maybe it's all that truck-related gear for sale or maybe its the PA announcing that the next shower is available. I think it's also road warrior people (and truck) watching. My fill up, bathroom visit, shopping experience, and decent coffee all met expectations, all inside of 15 minutes. This pilot travel center is an awesome place to stop and get your 10 hours rest.. Clean parking spots, fuel pumps that are easy to get to, also they are clean and sterilized. Parking spots are clean and there is no worry that you will catch a nail. Parking lot is well taken care of. Like I mentioned before, fuel pumps are easy to get to. There are some pilot travel centers that its pain in the butt to get to the pump. Pumps are also clean and sterilized. Inside, there are many things. First thing is of course coffee. They added these machines a while ago, they brew fresh and delicious coffee. There are some snacks for the coffee between the aisles. I have stopped at this gas station off the I-80 westbound exit 201 for Belle Plaine/Brooklyn, Iowa, at least a dozen times. I stopped here today to get gas. I tend to stop here for food, gas, supplies, air for my tires, or for a combination of those items. They have a handy Subway Sub Shop inside along with a full truck stop with showers and supplies for truckers and travellers in general. They have a wide selection of different interesting items, like coasters and glass ornaments/figurines, and of course awesome, delicious snacks. I stop at this gas station when visiting or returning home from Skydive Iowa. Staff in this Pilot Travel Center are always very nice and helpful as well. They charged me for the shower when I had points on my rewards card. When I asked them to refund money and take my rewards shower they gave my refund, but put me in a line after 4 more people even when that I bought that shower before them. The girl with green hair Allison declined to give us our shower and said we have to wait 4 more people before us. When I had situations like that NORMAL managers who respect their customers opened shower manually to do not let me wait more. This is a disrespect to me as to a customer. Feel like a damn prison shower it's so small. if your on the heavier side and got more hours on your clock keep going till you hit a loves. Bathroom door say guaranteed sanitary HA! It was still soap suds in the shower from the last guy toilet was anything but clean and had pubic hairs on the toilet seat luckily i bring my on Lysol to clean over. Then when i took a shower the steam from the shower built up and the whole floor was soaked. The manager has a attitude problem idk what's up with her. The park is okay not the best not the worst and if a bunch of people decided to get fuel at the same time it would be a disaster. 2 or 3 pumps are down I'm not getting out of my truck to go confirm but I'll definitely say 2. I've been trying to show pilot and flying j some love because i been going to love lately but i can't i gotta go back to LOVE. In the middle of interstate 80 in Iowa. Near What Cheer (yes, that's a real city name) Pilot truck stops are consistently clean, this one is no exception. They have a subway in the store along with a large variety of roller items and nuclear (microwaveable) food. As well as an oasis of beverage options. From the 10 oz coffee to the 52 oz bladder buster. It's by no means a proper restaurant, but if you need fuel for your vehicle and yourself. This is a good place to stop. read more

My husband and I visited on 10/23, took separate showers. As I was drying my hair, I noticed a louver on the bottom of the door was pushed in a way, someone could look directly at me...from the waist down. When I bent down to look, I locked eyes with one of their male employees, bent over watching me. He saw me, then disappeared. I yelled for my husband, who was waiting around the corner. I asked if he could see me with the door closed. Perfect view. I have been told numerous times, by MANAGEMENT, the guy in question is deaf & that's how he knows if someone is in a shower. Really? Propped up, from another bathroom, watching me is acceptable in their eyes? We have contacted corporate several times, we've been promised calls from their legal team, but NOTHING. Bathroom is cleanliness is fair. Someone needs to check the build up of trash more often. However the main praise is for their subway shop. Great service and the people are polite no matter how rushed they may be. The sandwiches are subway sandwiches nothing especially better. I really like their politeness at this location. read more
