The whole church was beautifully decorated for the season. There were two official photo stations for families, but honestly, you could take a picture anywhere and still get great Christmas vibes. There was a huge Christmas tree in the center of the lobby and giant nutcracker statues by the entrance--super festive. They also had several drink stations with coffee, tea, hot cocoa, apple cider, plus cookies for everyone to enjoy. The service itself was wonderful. The message really focused on the heart of Christmas and our Savior, Jesus. At the end, we lit our candles and worshipped together with classic Christmas songs, remembering God's love and grace. Our whole family loved it and had such a meaningful time worshipping together.

We have found the church welcoming to a variety of different people, from young to old and representative of lots of different facets of our community. We commute to church from Snoqualmie because we simply feel at home here. There are strong children's, middle-school and teen programs, as well as small groups, men's and women's bible studies, fun gatherings like "theology on tap", programs for seniors, people who are grieving, and much more. There is also a strong heart for mission at SPC, with long-term commitments to help in Africa and Guatemala, knitting for mission, and local mission opportunities in Washington state, to name a few. That postcard led us to attend their Issaquah location (Redmond is their main campus) and the Issaquah location opened up late last year as well. It's located in the theater/stage of an elementary school, and they provide childcare services for pretty much all ages. I still remember attending the first time and I was impressed. People were so welcoming, friendly, and I felt comfortable. Pastor Ben Sigman (lead) is hilarious. I pretty much laugh at every single joke he cracks, and I enjoy how they incorporate a funny clip right at the beginning of the service, (like from a TV show) transitioning to the message and starting off with a laugh. There are many things I really enjoy about Timberlake, and I can see that they much great attention and detail to make everything come together. Rusty (Assoc. Pastor) is a great guy, and has offered to help my bf and I with some coupling services--great resources and small groups for everyone. Recently they just added a second service, in order to accommodate more people attending. Services are roughly about an hour long. Oh yes, can't forget about the yummy Krispy Kreme donuts, apples, bagels, o.j, coffee they serve :)

However, I recently learned that the church holds non-affirming views regarding LGBTQ+ identities and relationships. This was not made clear on the website or in any public-facing materials, which made the discovery especially painful. I witnessed others be hurt by what feels like a bait-and-switch, entering a space that seems welcoming only to later find out they are not fully accepted. Transparency matters and clarity is kindness. While churches are entitled to their theological positions, I believe it is important, out of respect for those seeking a safe and welcoming spiritual home, to clearly communicate those beliefs upfront. That way, people can make informed decisions about whether this is a place where they will be fully accepted and supported. This experience has been disappointing but a great learning opportunity. The pastors did make an effort to talk to me and followed up with some sermons about the matter which I have linked below. I can see its earnest desire to do their best and lead the church with integrity through a challenging year. I've been inspired and impressed with their courage to tackle difficult subjects and to be honest when the answers are hard to come by. It's clear that they have a clear calling from God to his people and to the Eastside in particular. I would encourage anyone looking for a fresh expression of growing in their faith to explore Kalos online and/or in person as they begin meeting in person starting in January 2021.

I think like many churches today the church is taking a more modern, liberal whatever word you want to use and Pastor Mitchell and Krell do not fit into that model. During Covid I watched online and there were some interesting things said by worship team members. When I looked up one and read there bio. It told me what I needed to know. I emailed the church to ask about it and was ignored. I am being vague but not going to slander anyone online. It is sad to see what is happening in the churches today.

My family loves it, my children love it. Pastor Judah is a New York Times best selling author AND pastor/communicator. Churchhome does great work in the community and I LOVE that pastor Judah is scripture teaching rather than soapbox preaching. My only qualm is that there is only one in-person service a month. It was named "city church" at the time…read more Not much has changed since the name change and being asked to leave sent me on a downward spiral I still haven't recovered from. Their "celebrity" pastor Judah Smith and Pastor Jude Fouquier. Left me with lasting damage causing me to almost take my life. The only "sin" I had committed was finally being honest about being gay. I think it's time churches like this are held accountable for giving advice to teens without any semblance of a counseling degree, all while making 100,000's of dollars if not more off the people who attend.
